I actually believe this. Sometimes Allah supports His religion even through a man who might be deep in sin. Also, as Muslims, we believe that a person who is upon correct belief is still a Muslim, even though he may be guilty of heinous sins. We believe that such persons who do not sincerely repent or expiate their sin before death, will-if not forgiven by Allah-be punished for some amount of time in the hereafter, until they have paid their penalty and have been purified of their sin through such punishment, after which Allah will allow them to be admitted to the Paradise. I’ve seen it before, where some Muslims may be deep in sin, but they know that they are sinners and refuse to misrepresent Allah’s religion to justify their own deviance. If they’re honest with you, they will admit that they are regretful of their repeated sinning, and that they know that any punishment decreed for them by Allah would be perfectly just. They know that the problem is with them, and not with the religion of Allah, and they may even display a real zeal for defending Islam, and for disassociating the perfect religion from their own deeply sinful actions. They’re the type of person who may in all seriousness, say: “ _I am imperfect and sinful, perhaps even a criminal. If you want to condemn me, condemn me, but don’t you dare denigrate or insult Allah, Islam, the Prophets of Allah ﷺ, or anything else held sacred in the religion of Allah. My sinfulness, does not detract from their sanctity. Know that all it might take to transform me from a degenerate sinner, to a man seeking redemption through martyrdom upon the path of Allah, is one ill-considered insult from you against the sanctities of Islam, that pushes me too far_ .”
