    Jon Snow may know nothing, but WE certainly know a lot about him. Eddard Stark's bastard son is clearly one of the main heroes of Game of Thrones, but much of his backstory is shrouded in mystery. Popular fan theories about Game of Thrones have postulated that R + L = J, but what does that mean exactly? Is there the evidence to support it? And most importantly of all, what does that mean to the OVERALL STORY of the Game of Thrones series? How is Jon Snow the KEY to the Song of Ice and Fire?

      "Metabolic adaptation persists over time and is likely a proportional, but incomplete, response to contemporaneous efforts to reduce body weight."
      TL;DR : Diets dont work. The brain fights starvation by modifying the metabolism (which he does after diets, hence they dont work very well over time). So Sam metabolism is probably already on high gear. OK, he should lose some weight anyway, but TV .. actors ... etc

    • @minjaejameskim8340
      @minjaejameskim8340 Před 8 lety +2

      That was a great read, but I'm still doubting. You said "Metabolic Adaptation persists over time," but when Sam suddenly moved from a rich castle to an incredibly poor castle, it's very likely that he had no time to adjust/adapt his suddenly changed metabolism. And a basic BMI calculation (with a confidence level of 95%) notes that he should've lost a lot of weight ONLY IF his world is same as our world.
      In the world of Game of Thrones, there exist fire-breathing dragon, black magician, and witches. I'm sure Sam's fat body is a little less of a concern, compare to all the supernatural (in our perspective) things happen there.
      Thx.

      @swatson5699 Před 8 lety +14

      enginesnblades I haven't seen the show so I don't know how his death looked in that but there have been a ton of chapters that have ended with what could have been a character's death but it actually wasn't. My brother said that no one has every died in their own POV chapter. I can't confirm that to be 100% true but just in the fifth book chapters have ended with Asha Greyjoy being mauled in the head by a chieftain from a northern clan, Tyrion drowning in the Rhoyne, and Quentyn Martell being set aflame my Dany's dragon Rhaegal. Of the three, only Quentyn ended up dying but even that was three days later in Ser Barristan Selmy's chapter. Now, even if you were to assume that Jon Snow did die (which is probably what happened), in A Song of Ice and Fire death has a different meaning than that of the real world. Catelyn Stark has been resurrected into Lady Stoneheart by the red priest of myr. That guy, if I remember correctly, has himself been resurrected six times. Also, as you said, he could also become an white walker or wight. While I doubt that is what will happen, both R'hllor and the Other are capable other bringing the dead back from life. And while I doubt this is what will happen, another thing like this is when Qyburn brought the Mountain back to life (although I think it is just a shadow of the Mountain). Melisandre does know shadow binding (as made clear by how she killed Renly) and is extremely powerful (probably more so than the red priest of myr) so she could probably resurrect the dead. It is very possible that since Melisandre has seen Jon Snow a lot in her prophetic fires, she might think that Jon Snow is Azor Ahai (the person who once led the fight against the white walkers and is said to do it again in the current time) and will do anything to make him come back to life.

      Dingo D. Manhunter
      Except Young Griff wasn't even introduced until the later half of the series. From a storytelling standpoint, that doesn't bode well for his overall importance to the story. Otherwise he would be a Deus Ex Machina. And the evidence actually points to him being a Blackfyre.
      Don't get me wrong: You can still root for him even if he's not Rhaegar's son. Hell, about 100 years from AGOT half of Westeros would have argued that the Blackfyres has a better claim anyway.

    Rhaegar and Lyanna were most probably Jon Snow's parents. But my theory is that Lyanna was already pregnant with Rhaegar's child before Rhaegar staged the whole thing to save Lyanna's honor. It was necessary because If it became known she was impregnated by a married man while already betrothed to Robert Baratheon, it would have disgraced both her and House Stark. By staging the abduction, they probably thought King Aerys would only compel Rhaegar to return Lyanna to Winterfell once her family petitioned for her. From there, her honor would remain intact even if she was found to be pregnant since she'd be a rape victim instead of a willing concubine. What they didn't count on was that King Aerys would actually murder Lord Rickard and Brandon Stark when they petitioned for her release. And when Ned 'rescued' her later, Lyanna who was dying after giving birth confessed everything to him. This is why Ned seemed to harbor no hatred towards Rhaegar despite all the evil things attributed to him by his enemies. And to protect his nephew, Ned claimed Jon as his own bastard son to save him from Robert's jealousy and the rebels' desire to erase the Targaryen bloodline.

He was the one who created it, intentionally making sure to leaves clues that viewers could track through after said revelation. Likewise for this sort of theory. The author created a theory, provided lore that would reveal the truth, and many people noticed what the author created. Many people would gather these clues and share this opinion - this theory.

    A major clue contributing to a likely return of Jon would be that he's Robb's heir; Robb's will named Jon Snow as his successor, legitimising him and entitling him to the Stark name and position as head of the family, and Lord of Winterfell. As mentioned more than once in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a legitimised bastard typically reverses the colours of their banner, as seen in the context of the Blackfrye rebellion. The Stark banner is a grey wolf on a white background - if we reverse this, we're left with...A White Wolf on a grey banner. That sounds like quite a subtle, but important clue that GRRM might have included in the texts. If we take this into account, together with the prophecies and Melisandre's visions in the flames (man to wolf to man again, warging to avoid death before taking back a revived body?), and the voiding of the Watch's vows (since he technically died), we're left with a Jon Stark who is able to march under a banner of a White Wolf. That's just too good to be a coincidence...

      Absolutely it was love - first and foremost
      I believe Rhaegar would have seen their love for each other as fated so as to bring about the prophecy.
      And he was right.
      Knowing Lyanna (from what the characters say about her), like Ned she would have died rather than dishonour herself for a man she was not madly in love with. That is, if she didn't love/want him she would have fought to the death to stop it from happening.
      They were both foolish but maybe the ends justify the means and besides, they died once they'd fulfilled the prophecy.
