Wow,l went to Doncaster Road school from 3 yrs old.My parents had the fish n chip shop to the side of the school .

The shot at 2:21 off Shambles Street shows the canopy of the petrol station that was between Shambles Street and Peel Street. The petrol station was called 'Both Worlds' which I always thought was really cool 🙂

Does anyone remember the shop at town end that had the eye painted on the side with a slogan that read something like 'keeping an eye on prices'? I seem to be the only person to remember it.
I'd also love to see a photo of the street map outside the town hall in the glass case. You pushed button on the bottom and a bulb illuminated to show the location you'd chosen. It's such a shame that disappeared.
I also remember the automatic glass doors at the YEB shop on Shambles Street. That was like something out of Star Trek to us kids in the 1970s.
It's a crying shame that they demolished the ABC cinema on Peel Street (people older than me knew it as the Ritz.) The building itself was just a brick box but the art deco facade was wonderful, especially when it was illuminated. It should never have been demolished.
