  • I'm Stuart Sykes and I have lived in Barnsley all my life and am a keen landscape photographer. Its my passion to restore old photographs and make them look how I think they should be viewed in all their splendour and glory.
    The images in this video have been sourced from various places including post cards and the internet. I am assuming that all these images are now out of copyright but if any image does contravene any copyright still held then I will remove it immediately from this video please let me know at.

    I vividly remember the quarry off Dodworth Road. We moved into Branksome Ave in 1972 and it was still there packed full of wildlife, particularly frogs. Long gone now.

    I have a feeling I recognise my great great great grandfather in the Blacker Hill quarry pic. He lived at Blacker Hill. I have a letter he wrote from there to his father in 1896. Robert Wilson.

      Sorry Gordon - I don't get yer? - all the images in each of the volumes are different - what do you mean repeats?

      Apologies Stuart. It’s just that some of them look familiar to others. I suppose it’s down to the similarity of the different structures built over the years plus the colour of the pictures. Anyway, being new to Barnsley I think it’s a fantastic historical document that you’ve created and I really thank you. Best wishes, Gordon
