The tutorial I’ve been looking for!!! 🙌👍 I love your tone and emphasis, as a former college football player and software developer, and in my second year of actually trying to understand the finer points of chess - some intro and “Old Indian” through “side stepping main line theory”, by G. Welling, and S. Giddins- And I really appreciate your style of describing the match and possible lines 👏👏👏✌️
Dereque, that position at the end of the video is just perfection and seemed so simply how you created it. Your explanations make so much sense and it infuriates me when I look over my own games and make all the mistakes which black makes in this tutorial! Excellent videos, so helpful and easy to follow. Thank You.
Awww, awesome remarks and very flattering! Thank you so much! I appreciate it! Thank you for stopping by! Chess takes time and patience and effort! Everyone engaged in this has to be congratulated no matter what they accomplish. So much appreciated! Welcome and hank you or watching our videos! Thank you! :)
We're older players who have become stymied in our chess strategies, especially because of old habits and the fact that we play each other and know each other's weaknesses. THANK YOU for your terrific videos. Clear, concise demos an explanations. No more senior moments at the chess board! George and Patricia
I've heard it said that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Your knowledge and enthusiasm for the game of chess are very apparent and inspiring. Thanks.
"Some people believe I have an advantage in opening main lines" EVERYONE who has clicked on your channel would be terrified to play a theoretical position against you. I'd rather play an opening against stockfish.
Well, I'd rather play a position that is considered equal or just very slightly worse than playing this garbage - especially against an opponent who has such a great understanding of the opening (since I'd know he could punish me for playing dubious / not theoretically approved moves).
Excellent explanation. I’m looking to start playing Old Indian. I have been playing King’s Indian but have found myself not wanting to fianchetto my bishop all the time.
So far I`ve been to 3 tournaments.....Played against a veteran champion of my country....And had an intense game with the current best player of my countries repressentation (Although I know they were going easy on me).....Now......My two schools (my normal school and my chess school are starting).....I think you and some other chess youtubers helped me learn a lot of things....So....Wish me luck! BTW You`ve earned a sub.....A lng time ago.....
the black play looks very similar to my checzs defense repertoire, wich is nearly that slow. I like to Play: 1.e4 d6 2. d4 Nf6 3. Nc3 c6 4. Nf3?(f4 !? but somehow on club level nobody play this way) Bg4 And black completes his setup with the moves e6 Be7 d5 0-0 an Nbd7, followed by c5 Nc6 and Qb6 After that black has a French defense with the light sqaured bishop out of the pawn chain an often a misplaced white knight on c3, that has problems sopporting the d4 pawn against the c5 break an Qb6. I studied this positions in the Book 1. ... d6 by Lakdawala, and the seem to work, even if they are slow, because in the blocked position ist seems very dufficult for white to get something out of it. On the other hand I had to prepare 4.f4 and the crazy response Qa5 with hell breaking loose. Lakdawala claims that even this position ist playable. Engines and databases support this.
Very cool! :) I think I understand that you're sharing some information about a variation you like to play and have researched, if I understand correctly that's great! Awesome! :)
I think some people say the Black Lion is an aggressive variation of the Philador. And some people say it's a gimmic opening for beginners. Either way ive been playing it and i like it.. Simon Williams has done a few vids on it and there's a book called the Black Lion by some Dutch chess players who developed it.

You have a very principled and logical view on the openings. I think Siegbert Tarrasch would be pleased (in a good way).
:) thank you for the kind words :)

5:14 Nxe4 Bxe4 Black thinks after d5 I got solid positon but White is better first castle possible
tempi? I'm not sure that's the proper plural here. Anyway a neat game to study, as always well explained. Thanks for making these.
Thank you! :) You bet :)

Good game to learn from, thanks. Old indian doesn't look too bad for white
Hello! Is a PGN available to look through the rest of the game?
The rest will be covered in the next video:)
+Dereque Kelley Oh, great! Thanks!
:)
At minute 8:00, why not P-K4 instead of QPxBP?
Could be good :)
This Old Indian Defense -is it the same thing as the Black Lion?
I don't think so? I'm not familiar with anything called the "Black Lion" it's a great question though, perhaps google it...?
