    Hi Dereque! Your instructional chess videos are the best, I’ve come across. So clear and concise. You obviously have a very clear understanding of what’s going in these positions. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

    Dereque, I'm new to studying chess (Only about 850 rated atm) but the way you explain the reasoning for moves rather than just detailing which moves were played is really useful. These videos are very high quality :) Keep it up, Thank you!

      Also, I forgot to ask, what would you say the best counter to a white king's pawn opening is? I'd like to watch your video on it if you have one. Although D4 seems to be the best opening, I come across probably just as many E4 openings. Thanks!

    Dereque Kelley my chess game has bumped up so many notches from the great videos you show & your ability to Break down all factors of each side playing black or white my mind works very different then others I have a unorthodox kinda game i take risks which you know best it's apart of it sometimes it doesn't go how i want but the other times totally worth it thanks very much for being a chess wizard in my book my favorite is Sicilian dragon I've put so many spins on it create so many opportunities from one opening thanks !! please keep posting !!

    I always find it interesting when such strong players still play a3 in the Nimzo. I think this move almost universally gives black a very comfortable (even better) game, save lines where an early e3 and Nge2 is played

    • @psilohead
      @psilohead Před 7 lety

      This just happened to me yesterday! Although I'm not a strong player, I thought during the game, "Why do I ALWAYS make this a3 move? It never seems to work out well in the end." And yet, I felt like I HAD TO play it. For some strange reason...

      against an early e3 and nge2 i like to play b6 and c5 so that after a3 i can drop my bishop back to a5

    I've just found your channel by searching content about the karo-kann defense. I've been all day watching your videos and I really like your channel. Could you upload more videos about the karo-kann? I'm learning it and your video would be a great help. Thank you for reading, hope you have a good day :)

    Thank you so much! I played a game on a big local tournament some weeks ago after watching your videos. I was black and played the nimzo-indian and managed to get a superior position, almost winning, against a very strong opponent, sadly I screwed the endgame up :(

    So where are the cool glasses you wore in the first half of this game a few days ago? Switch to contacts? Love your videos, by the way, have recommended them to friends trying to learn chess as among the best on CZcams for that purpose.

    Hey kelley great video as always. Your videos are interesting and help me to improve. Thank you!
    If white does not play Qc2 what will be different and what should i do and in the endgame what if white tries to exchange blacks strong rocks?
    Thank you again for everything^^

      I wish I could answer this question but there are so many ways White can play, it's very fascinating and the responses may constantly fluctuate depending on how both sides are playing. Very wonderfull to hear you're enjoying the videos, I'm really happy to hear this! Thank you so much!

    Nice video, although the opponent played a bit poorly.
    Also, Dereque, when I play in the park (against a very strong player), he usually doesn't mind playing e5 after Qc2 and getting double pawns. He still gets a very strong center and the doubled pawns are tough to exploit.
