    I found "the tactic" because I play a lot of Sicilians, in particular the Smith Morra where similar ideas happen. Very similar if they decline the gambit with 3... d3

    Why doesn't anyone remember that The Old Indian is the predecessor of The King's Indian? In many variations of OI, black does a dance with the bishop: Rf8-e8...Be7-f8...Pg7-g6...Bf8-g7. of This is probably what your opponent could have done while "looking for a move". Anyway, eventually black players decided to stop "waisting time" with Bf8-e7 and go right for Bf8-g7. And the King's Indian came into vogue.
