  • @blakewu1375
    @blakewu1375 Před 22 dny +16

    Broussard is screaming louder than Parker here, but I agree with Rob more. Other than a very strange Bubble Championship, the Lebron era with the Lakers has been largely a unmitigated disaster, missing playoffs or even playins altogether, gutting the team of young talents because he feels too entitled (or insecure?) to play with anyone but stars, forcing the team to take unsuitable past-their-prime stars as a result (and I love Russ), firing coaches left and right and back again as scapegoats, and the constant passive-aggressive dramatics (if he wants to act, go into politics or Hollywood--it's literally just the down the street).
    If they end up hiring his new holster friend JJ Reddick, red member boy and all, to replace a guy who took them to western conf finals just last year, I'm done as a Lakers fan after more than 4 decades. My beloved Lakers have become a circus show since Lebron's arrival, and they might as well sell the team to him and call it LA LeBruns (or LeBunks or whatever unclever unflattering nicknames they've given the King-Queen over the decades)--they wouldn't even have to change the initials LAL.
    When one thinks (perhaps too ideally) of sports, it's that it's perhaps the last more or less fair bastion of meritocracy in our society, where one's ability and performance are the true measure of one's worth and eligibility, not politics or corruption or connections or class or money, and Lebron is managing to destroy even that tiny bit of purity left. The thought that he has such control over the team and, quite frankly, the whole NBA, such that he can blackmail/hijack a team somewhere to draft his son so he could play with someone who's worthless and totally unqualified and unprepared as a NBA player (not worthless as a person--I'm sure he's a nice kid) in the worst display of collective nepotistic hypocrisy in modern American pro sports history, it makes me sick and so tired of the twilight LeBron. Just go away, far from the Lakers somewhere if you still want your $50-60 mil/year (when is enough enough? not after 21 years, I guess), and stop contaminating the sports world and society with this nonsense. You can draft your son after you own the team in Vegas--then it'd more acceptable foolishness and legacy admission, which is good old American corruption in a legal form. (Besides, owners have a license to be stupid because it's their money.) Unbelievable that none in the media or pretty much anywhere else is raising any stink about this, but then what's a clearer sign of this guy's power and corruption of our collective sense of fairness than the silence. I don't think Jordan or Magic or Bird or anyone else had this kind of power, and they saved the league! Imagine if ANY one of the greats publicly proclaim that he wants to play with his son whom everyone knows isn't worthy to play in the NBA (or a mediocre college that can't even make the NCAA tournament!), what the reaction there'd be. Yet 99% of the media and fans have been cowed or conditioned into thinking that this is NORMAL, nothing wrong with it. Only Rob Parker being the contrarian that he is dares to fart out a bit of truth, and even he's letting (uncharacteristically) Broussard browbeat him here. :-')

    Bron should be the first player-coach, that way everything is his fault. You can’t have a backbone and actually coach him without getting put on the hotseat, and if you don’t coach “enough” you’re getting fired anyway. No one was complaining when they made the conf finals last year. No way Darvin was winning anything with this roster lol

      That was a bad comparison full stop. Tom Brady basically left the NFL a winner. He left reasonably. He also was a team player! Tom Brady took paycuts to continue winning. Left the Patriots and won in Tampa Bay. He didn't make players get traded or coaches fred.

      @@seanswinton6242 awful comparison. Tom Brady is the actual NFL GOAT thats just the facts.
      LeBron James is the 2nd best player ever (MAYBE) and not close to the actual GOAT.
      And tbh with only 4 rings and 4 MVP compared to guys like Kareem with 6 rings and 6 MVP it seems pretty stupid that LeBron is just handed the 2nd best all time status.
      LeBron is great he's definitely in the top 5 all time but honestly not even sure he's the 2nd best.

Rob actually understated it. We are burnt out on Lebron and KD for sure if anybody could stick around and it not stunt other growth and it not be annoying is maybe steph.
