- Flying Scotsman out on the Christmas specials Today, the tour started out in Liverpool via the the S&C to Carlisle and return via the same route later . What a great day for filming, been waiting for the right conditions for a few years, filmed from Simon Fell on the back of Ingleborough looking over Ribblesdale and Batty Moss Viaduct, thanks very much to my new Subscribers .
When man, machine and nature combine in perfect harmony...
thanks very much Nigel, not sure if in complete harmony, certainly a cracking view up there and a rare day with little wind, cheers .👍
Wonderful just wonderful. Many thanks
well Stephen it was an ideal day, waited a while for this one, thanks very much for your kind words, all the best, Steve .
What a treat, that is fantastic. I want to see it again ... wheeh
thanks very much Avro, just keep pressing PLAY, cheers .🤣
Superb Stephen. Loved the first 2', before Ribblehead in the 'early morning mist'.
Thanks for sharing.
Al.
Glad you enjoyed it Alan, thanks .
Now thats what i call a video. Absolutely superb...👍
Thank you so much 😀
One word, fantastic.
Very kind , thanks paul, more footage to follow when time, cheers .
Spectacular video coverage of 'Flying Scotsman' and it's trail Stephen. Well done on the excellent positions you chose and the great filming. Regards - Allan.
Glad you enjoyed it Alan, it was a great spot, quite a climb, but the view, perfect, thanks for the commentand cheers, Steve .
Fantastic! I love those atmospheric shots in the landscape. You have my subscription
very much appreciated Jonathan, thanks for the sub, cheers .👍👍
A rare day indeed when the sound is this crisp from so far away! Thank you for making the effort to capture this occasion so well. The landscapes and the temperarture inversion by themselves would have been worth the climb, but to have 60103 so well caught is a treat.
Ian, thanks for the very kind comment, not a perfect video, but pefect conditions for filming, it was a real treat to see and film, thanks, Steve .
@@stephenbrass1808 Well it's not far from perfect! There are a few slight shakes at times which could probably be ironed out with software. I use iMovie which has a shake-damping function. If you don't have this I'd be happy to run it through for you to see what the results are like. It's a wonderful sequence which deserves the best treatment for posterity, I think.
@@iandocwra1169 thanks for the offer Ian, i have more video footage of the day, not quite sure what to do, also the sound at the begining has some unwanted noise on it thanks .
Wowzer, truly stunning
Thanks very much Nigel, glad you liked the video, cheers.
Splendid footage Stephen, never seen any filming from there before. Like how the steam just hangs there perfectly. Thanks.👍👍
Grand day for it i had to go for it David, worked out a good choice, thanks, Steve . 👍
That was terrific...Batty Moss Viaduct especially.
Lovely Gresley beat, too.....
thanks John, yes you could hear it working even from that hight, Thanks for your comment .😎
Absoulutly fantastic.
Thanks very much James, it was a great day for it, glad you enjoyed the video, cheers .

DMU driver: when I grow up, I want to be a train dri...
Stunning! ❤
cheers Stuart, thanks for taking a look and commenting on the video, glad you enjoyed it, new subscriber !! cheers .
This was an excellent contrast in an elevated position to the videos of Nigel and Stephen G on the same day. Great atmospherics and sound .I liked the drifting exhaust and its shadow after crossing Ribblehead. Thanks for making the climb !
thanks Keith, it was certainly not the easier of climbs, as you say quiete a contrast between the videos, cracking day though and thanks very much for taking the time to comment .
Gorgeous video -Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the kind comment Michael, feel free to Subscribe, or take a look at some of my other videos on my channel, thanks, Steve .🙂

A brilliant video of a unique setting. Well done and thanks!
thanks very much Richard, all the best , thanks for the comment, Steve .
Wow, that was spectacular!! The Gresley beat was clearly audible in the still air. Best bit, no crowds to get in the way, lol. I wonder how long the plume lasted? Thanks for a fantastic piece of filming. 😀😀👍👍
Thanks Robert, a very nice comment, actually there were a few early birds up there walking and taking pictures, the plume lasted for ages untill it blended with the mist, enough footage for another video !! , cheers .😎😎👍
It seems everyone feels the same as I do. This is an award winner both from railway and artistic standpoints. Of course you were lucky but seizing the chance is what it's about. Thanks a lot.
thanks indeed RJNev, very kind of you to say, can't say it was a perfect pan, as you say seizing the chance to do it, it was thick fog lower down so very lucky, cheers .😎
Absolutely stunning and jaw dropping. Well done! It couldn't be more different to my day with Duchess of Sutherland in the fog on the A1/A1(M). I came home over Stainmore and broke out of the fog on the A66 just before Bowes into the blue sky and sun - it is was like entering another world.
Strange weather, but stunning in the sun, misareble in the fog, thanks for the comment, just Subscibed, cheers .😀😎
Superb shots Steve, finally got to the top of that hill you’ve been wanting to do for some time which paid off, a cracking exhaust trail along Selside, well done, cheers 👍
Thanks Nige, not quiet made the top, but the view was great from there and not to cold was hard work climbing that hil though, thanks, Steve . 🎥🌝
Lovely, thanks.
Thanks for watching JP
Brilliant capture Stephen. Well worth the climb up the hill, in perfect conditions👍👍
Thanks Phill, it was quite a climb up there, but the views were wonderful, the long exhaust trail very impressive, thanks again for the support this year, cheers, Steve . 😉👍
Superb
Thanks very much for the comment Peter, cheers .
A sight to behold, magnificent filming of an iconic loco in its element. Well done on catching this scene in such a dramatic landscape. I just hope the green wokest's don't add these locos to there proscribed list!
Thanks for your great comment Chris, it was a rare day with great views in the sun above the mist, all the best, cheers .😀
Great video thanks
thanks for watching and also the great comment Cameron, dont forget to ring the bell, cheers .😎
Wonderful footage! Shame about the sound interference coming through on the opening shot, sounded like someone was moving around close to your microphone?
thanks very much for your comment, yes the background noise was a bit annoying, cheers .👍
Thinking out of the box. Well done, beautiful.
thanks very much John, certainly a different perspective on a unusual viewpoint, cheers .👍👍
Brilliant shots Steve, wonderful exhaust trail 👍🎥
thanks very much Steve, a shot i fancied doing for a while, fairly steep climb, but super views up there, not many days like that, not as steady as i would have liked, a thid cam would have been great, if you wish to share it with Nat Pres that would be great, thanks . 👍
Superb!! Great location for Ribblehead.
thanks Karl, not many days like that for filming up there without the wind .
What a grand video 👍 once again Stephen 👍lovley day eh!!
grand day indeed Smiler, thanks for the watch and kind comment, cheers .👍😄
Wonderful shot Steve, fabulous spot to catch that lovely trailing exhaust
Thanks Austin, ideal day for videoing today, fantastic views up there, but a hardy walk, cheers .👍
Wish I'd joined you, fine video 👍👍👍
Next time !!, needs to be the right sort of day, and not many like that for filming in those still conditions, cheers .
Amazing!
thanks Colin very much, amazing views, but a good walk up there, all the best, cheers, Steve .👍
Superb video Steve - well done for the effort in getting to that location!
it is very steep and hard work getting up there but what a great view, not many days like that, thanks for the comment .
Nice shot. Great location.
Thanks very much Idris, great views up there today, cheers .
Brilliant!! (again).
thanks very much for the comment Holmesjunction .
Brilliant Steve! Good day for exhaust!
thanks Alan, great day for filming, lovely views, cheers .
Brill Stephen, I've also sent it on to my friend Diane as she was on the footplate and quite visible at 1.30. Excellent footage as always, cheers, Andy
Thanks Andy, yes feel free to share, you never know i might get a few more Subs, thanks for your comments, all the best, Steve .😎
Another fine video. You Nige have got some crack great videos, well done!
thanks Jon, hope you are well and sorted in your move, watched your last few vids, keep up the good work and thanks for the comment, all the best, cheers .👍
This is absolutely stunning - you must have had a very early - and energetic - start to the day. I imagine there must have been a few brass monkeys up there, too!
🐒Now that comment made me chuckle Tim, actually it was not to Brass monkey, long walk but very rewarding views, could have stopped up there much longer the views were fantastic with the mist moving about in the valley, thanks for the comment, Steve .
Superb footage Stephen.
thanks very much Christopher, great day for catching some nice exhaust today .👍
Steve, Very eerie but what a fantastic sight. Regards, John
Thanks very much John, one of those rare days when you think WOW, what a view and the mist was very strange, Merry Christmas, Steve .
I wish it had been in 4k, HD is ok, but when there are tiny GoPro cameras recording in 4k, its essential for videos as magnificent as this one.
thanks Peter, 4k all very nice, but you have to upgrade all your equiptment, much better than Hi8 was, cheers .😆
That is quality.
thanks very much for the kind comment Derek, bit wobbly in places, but hey ho, thanks Steve .😎
Awesome video. It's like watching a real life train set 😂
thanks very much Matt, glad you enjoyed watching the video, it looked fantastic from my vantage point .
Reminds me of a video from the top of Wernside tracking a train from about Sellside, up over Ribble head and beyond. Unfortunately I can't remember on which CZcams channel.
Thanks Neil, it was one of those rare days when the weather was just right for that location, now you could do the shot with a drone !!!, thanks .🙂
Nice spot Steve, missed it by 10 minutes!
thats a shame Jacob, it was a great day for it and sunny higher up, thanks for the comment .😃
Great. Is it time for a look for wear in the conjugated valve gear ?
thanks Paul, sounds like a horse galloping away, cheers .
You can see why the allied aircraft in ww2 could see the steam locos from miles away and attack them side on targeting the engine first.
Certainly in Winter Matthew, not so in summer .
The video looks good but Scott sounds like a chaff cutter and he is throwing off far too much smoke and steam. It seems that he needs a good clean out and a few things need tightening that have definitely come loose!!!!
thanks for the comment Elaine, certainly has its own distictive sound, galloping hoarse !!! , lots of steam on a cold morning, all steam locos must pass a strict FIT to run test, cheers .
Sorry , too slow and unexciting for me.
