- This High Class Loser takes a step back from the cam swaps and clutch changing videos to cover some very basic maintenance. Your after market reusuable cloth air filter, found on most intake systems requires cleaning. It usually requires cleaning more often then they suggest as well! I show you how to properly clean it using K & N Cleaner and oil it using K & N Oil.
Remember to not over oil it, go light and apply more as needed!
What type of cleaner and oil do you use?

Great video brother. Thanks for posting. A lot of guys like me are not too savvy with repairs and maintenance 🤪
Straight up and to the point ,Thank you
No problem. Thanks for watching! 👍
I found the best cleaning result I ever had was using spray 9. Works wonders removes grease from accidental touching your shirt or pants.
Thanks a lot for this video! Saved me buying a new filter ;)
Take your wet air filter and hook it up to a wet/dry shop vac (may need to improvise with a make shift adapter for size difference between hose size and intake size), secure filter to the adapter with a little electrical tape or other type. Turn on your shop vac and viola! You’ll have a nice dry filter in under 20 minutes. Works like a charm.
Great video my friend!!! 😎
+smiley42 thanks! 👍
I just cleaned ans re-oiled my Heavy breather, came out this morning and there is oil on the ground, it dripped from the filter to the exhaust, to the ground.. Did i use too much? Should i clean and re-do?
Great video! 💪🏼 Thanks a million for the thorough information. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 This helped me out more than you know! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Dish soap doesn’t work as well at all. I would only use dish soap if I was in a bind like can’t get to the store and went through a dust storm. K&N sells a manual spray bottle as well as aerosol can. I use the spray bottle easier than drip method. Great video.
good video ideas man
Michael Gibson thanks man!
I have the screaming eagle oil free filter. Dawn dish soap cleans it perfectly.
Skunk72 I've actually never tried an oil free filter. i remember when they came out and how expensive they were!
is that for this intake or do you have another intake?
AUTOT3K HCL I have the original dyna tear drop cover but i put a round element in it... One of these days I'm going to put a different cover on if I ever have the money for it. Didn't get the style like yours because I'm 6'2" and was afraid it would get in the way.
I am 6'2" as well and have one on my Street Glide with no issues at all.@@Skunk72
Great Video! Love the thorough in depth info on the cleaning the intake. Questions, when you say don't over oil it, how would you know if you've over oiled it verses not oiling it enough? Also if you do over oil it, can you just wash/clean/dry it and do the whole process all over again?
If you set the filter down and it has oil running down it, its over oiled. Can definitely re wash and re do. Its more of an issue on a vehicle with sensors in the intake, the harley it would just get oil on the throttle blade so still not great to over oil it
@@AUTOT3KHCL Awesome, thank you sir!
Dish soap works great. Still prefer the K&N cleaner best
I just bought a screamin eagle air breather assembly like yours. Do I have to oil it when I put it on it looks red already out the box?
It comes pre oiled, so no need to clean and oil it for a bit. Depending on if you're caught in rain or riding in dusty conditions you could go 2-3 oil changes before servicing it
from my experience using degreasers, its just highly concentrated dish soap with out fragrance in it
Dave Surrey that makes sense. dawn claims to remove grease and what not so next time i run outta that spray I'll try out the dish soap
do you apply the oil from the outside only? and at the top of the fold (valley)? if so how do you get it to oil the deep part the valley? does it just wick through? thanks
+Gus F from the outside only and it'll wick down into that valley, if you over oil the filters it'll get sucked through and can screw up sensors
thanks yea I already did it this morning after letting it dry all night, don't have any sensors it's a harley road king (oval filter) , I didn't however over do it, it looks perfect, thanks for the video
+Gus F no problem! I always find the drip oil is easier to apply then the spray oil, but 2-3 cleanings and the filter has basically paid for itself in savings!
Did you ever find out if nornal household soap/detergent works ok?
Tried dish soap a couple times. Worked better then the cleaner
@@AUTOT3KHCL That was a fast reply thanks! Thats great I just bought a second hand air filter and that will save me buying a bottle so thanks for your video and answer!
Your video strobes at the end, couldn't finish.
How the fuck are you going to skip the step right after removing the Allen bolts and outer ring?!!! How the hell do you get the filter out? Without damaging something?
Dish soap sucks doesn't work well
+J rod fair enough! Good to know before I tried that!
Same here ..then I did put kerosin in a bucket..perfect and clean! Reusable filter of course
Please never do the cleaning inside your house.. these stuff can smell real bad.. do evrything outside for a safer side..
