I use to run nitro RC vehicles that use foam filters and have used dawn dish soap on them for like 20 years with no issues. When i got my KLR that had a foam filter i just did the same thing except its a bigger air filter and takes more filter oil. lol.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
I clean my quad filter with Dawn as well. The solvent cleaning products that they sell works better but with a little effort and squeezing dish soap works fine. I gently wring it out and let it sit inside over night to let it dry thoroughly before oiling. Regular foam filter oil from the part store is all you need.
I agree with most other people here, don't wring it out as a best practice. Not saying it won't be fine, but some person who has never done this before might wring the piss out of it and tear the filter, so just squeeze don't wring. Also I would recommend buying a cleaner that is meant for air filters, I use bel ray oil and filter cleaner and it works great. Not the cheapest brand but the stuff goes a long way and is cheaper than a new engine.
Not gas, but Kerosene works great to clean foam air filters. It's also recommended to add a little grease around the ring to help the front seal against the plastic. No point in all of this if the air (which travels through the path of least resistance) just goes around your filter.
A pre-wash with Varsol will wash the dirty oil out much easier & faster. Its high flash point is safer than using gasoline. Then wash it with hot soapy water.
say you wanna go riding and you absolutely have no Air Filter Oil at your disposal. Can you still ride around with a Clean Dry Filter, or is there anything else you can spray on it for that one ride to help with the dirt..
Matthias Schulze As long as you're not too rough with It you'll be fine. They're pretty durable. The protection foam filters provide comes from the oil you put on after you clean them.
Use a parts cleaning solvent and it takes 2min to clean, rinse with dawn/water after that, done. And like everyone else said, don't wring out foam filters.
jae green i usually use the brand k&n air filter spray on oil but depending on where you live you should get other brands for cheap at like a auto store or even a gas station store
Each time you dip it your making it more dirty. Warm water for a couple of times. Then soapy water fresh each time after for about 6 times, done. You contaminate every time you dip twice
Because you need to oil your air filter lol. It's called air filter oil. It's different. The oil you put on your air filter is what catches the fine dust. If you do not oil your air filter your engine will wear much much faster and will fail.
You're here watching MY video for a reason. If you knew how you wouldn't be watching. I know what I'm talking about bud. Made the mistake of saying "wringing it out" when I'm clearly just squeezing the water out making sure not to damage the filter. Get a life
If dawn is good enough for ducks it’s good enough for my air filter
I agree

wringing is the last thing to do on foam

MotoPosh can I Do this with my Honda xr80r?

John Bergeson that’s why they’re so shitty. don’t wring them out.
@@jackmarshall782 how do you get the water out

Its a good idea to coat the inside of the filter as well!
Try foam cleaner first, then Dawn and warm water, then rinse water.
Do you have to put the oil on after its cleaned
Thanks for the vid j got my bike and this helped me out

Thanks man! And yes I' need to do that soon anyway
Crap I got a Yamaha raptor I changed my air filter case there was oil on my air filter know I know y there was thanks for the halp
Haha yeah! Make sure you oil it back up to catch all the dust 👍
Smear some grease on the sealing surface of the filter when you put it back in the air box. Cheers!
Good afternoon friend.
I bought my YAmaha Raptor 700 R yesterday and would like to know what care I should take with the bike. Please.
Depends on your riding, but I change my oil twice a year and clean my air filter often
Thanks ❤John 3,16
U don’t ring out these filters like your doing
WD-D great idea!!!
Could I do this with a foam filter?
He has a foam filter goofy
So is a air filter and oil filter the same thing?
No sir.
Then how come on this video it says oil a air filter
Never mind I’m an idiot lol
So when are you supposed to clean your oil filter?
Because you need to oil your air filter lol. It's called air filter oil. It's different. The oil you put on your air filter is what catches the fine dust. If you do not oil your air filter your engine will wear much much faster and will fail.
thank you for washing
2:29 Ouch
Do you have to put the oil in the filter
Yes you need to oil your filter after its dry
MotoPosh even if it’s a four stroke
Yes haha. The oil you put on the filter is what catches the dust and fine particles from going in your engine
MotoPosh oh I asked someone else to and they said not to I just wanted to make sure thanks
Not too much oil. Foam rubber don't like oil. Oil makes foam rot.
Try using gasoline .. I uploaded a video on my channel i used gasoline its more effective and really quick.
I’ve had gas eat through my foam filters before, worked good the first couple of times though lol.
Gas breaks down alot of stuff do not use gas
soak in a bucket of awesome......dish soap isnt good enough
Definitely works good enough
Good idea awesome is awesome❤John 3,16
Use some gloves my man
gasoline works great to clean the filter
Peter Landry lmao
Yes, especially if you also want to degrade the integrity of the filter as well.
Wear gloves
U have no idea what your talking about it’s funny
