    Great work as always. I bought my 2018 HD Silverado to see the country with the wife. We are looking at getting a fith wheel camper as well, but shocked at how fast they go over the payload. And 36 to 42 feet are very average. Nathan Ive watched your video couple years ago in wv testing the hds towing the 5th wheel campers so I know you have experience. But ANDRE, have you towed anything that long before, seemed very relaxed no white knuckles or anything. Thx again really love your live shows on my awful drive home getting out of Washington D.C

    When you go Down the Ike Gauntlet with the Ram the engine brake should be in Auto Mode so when you come out of the tunnel at 50 and lift your foot off of the accelerator that activates the engine brake will not allow the truck to go over 50 assuming you let off precisely at 50 it will use the engine brake and gears to keep you at 50 or below you should have zero brake applications if you do it right. I Tow a large Tow hauler often in my Ram 2500 and never have to use the brakes going downhill using this method.

In the case of this video, it should have been in TFLtruck but for some reason its in TFLnow....ehhhhh??

TFLcar and TFLtruck are all about longer comparison videos, projects vehicles (Truck and Car based on the Channel) and opinion and editorial like No, You're Wrong. TFLoffroad is all about off-roading and TFLclassics is all about classics. Hope this helps. We're working on making them more defined.

      @@james2042 as I do agree with most of what you said what makes a truck useful is the drivetrain while the Cummins is a great motor the transmissions are garbage .while gm and Ford upgrade there driveline with stronger transmissions ram detunes there transmission shift schedule and dumbs there trucks down to handle the torque even they know it's to much power for the trans. As far a 12 inch touch screen goes if that's what sells you on a HD truck over the heavier driveline then you really dont need a heavy duty truck. As far as coil springs and air suspension they are junk they are nothing but trouble the coils wont hold a load and the air suspension fails in the cold constantly and everyone knows that GM and dodge both have weak front end components. A lot and your mpg will be killing you on a decent size trailer. The gas is not as efficient as the diesel . The exhaust brake

    That was super cheesy putting that triple axel toy hauler on that single rear wheel truck. A 14,000 pound GVWR is BS.Those triples from attitude have a 19000 or 20,000 pound GVWR. That sticker was derated for this promo which means Attitude and Ram were in on the deal together. The actual curb weight sticker was most likely correct but that trailer had no options because most that size are closer to 13,000 pounds empty. Three 7000 pound axles don’t add up to a 14,000 pound GVWR. Don’t lose your credibility TFL.

      Well this trailer could be towed by a half ton so not impressive.....

      Could have? Yes. Dry weight only, and only from a max tow vehicle (regular cab, right rear end, etc.)
      Should? I think not. The brakes and suspension in a half-ton truck aren't really equipped to handle stopping that much weight effectively. It's not about getting going. It's stopping that matters. A 3/4 or 1 ton can much more effectively stop a load of that caliber.
      Many of us who haul heavy often appreciate the utility of a heavier duty suspension and braking system. Makes for a lot less white-knuckle experiences. The whole number game with these trucks has really gotten out of hand. I'll end on this note: I personally wouldn't want to place more than 10,000lbs on a semi-floating rear axle in a pickup truck, and that is what most of the half-ton trucks have, if not all of them. (Don't quote me on that. There may be someone who makes a full-float axle in a half ton, but I haven't seen it yet.)

      Tyson Reid I'd like to see that, you always hear f150 and tundra fanboys saying how much they could tow. I would like to see a half ton towing this trailer up and down the side of a mountain like that Ram did.

      @@tysonreidful not a chance! You're looking at tow rating only. A 1500 wouldn't even have half the payload rating to carry a fifth wheel of this size. A 12000 lb fifth wheel, with 20-25% weight over the rear axle would be 2400-3000 lbs just fir the fifth wheel. Not including passengers or cargo. What 1500 do you know with that kind of payload capacity!?

    2015 Ram 2500 HD 6.7 Cummins with only 33,000km and truck needs new PCM and I am getting a 9k USD repair bill from the dealership. Too bad, loved my truck until now and babied it because it was my pride and joy. DO NOT BUY!

    Dodge puts a lot of cool stuff in their trucks and everyone is excited about the trucks. I have owned Chrysler and Dodge cars and trucks and everyone was a piece of junk. Poor quality control, they rust out and I would never own one again. My brother in law has one and just replaced the oil pan because it rusted through. Don’t buy bling and don’t believe all the hype about dodge. As my mechanic says “Dodge trucks come pre rusted from the factory”.

    I love you ram but you gotta put these obese trucks on a major diet! 3992# Payload seems low so I’m guess GVWR Is 11700# and curb weight is 7708#.

    • @winehead99
      @winehead99 Před 5 lety

      not really low for a 3500 SRW, show me numbers from a f-350, bet its pretty close and ford has way more aluminum parts.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork Před 5 lety +1

      Ford trucks use V8 Diesel so I assume that already adds additional weight over RAM CTD. I was hoping for a 4400# Payload for SRW. There are toy haulers out there that have dry pin weights around 3700#. Looks like you will still have to use a dually to stay legal...

      @@JB_WhoWork Have you seen ANY srw truck with 4400+ payload? I was thinking I had seen real close to 4000 but if it was it was barely over 4000. Probably would be safer just to step up to dually.

      Having driven a 6.7 powerstroke that was tuned, and deleted, and driving a stock 6.7 Cummins pulling the same 12,000 lb trailer, on the same stretch of highway, (work) I can tell you the ram is leaps and bounds ahead of the powerstroke in terms of towing. The ford however is way faster unloaded.

    • @waynehicks317

      The 1000 ft/lbs is tuned more for towing and hauling, not for going fast. Show me a fast Peterbuilt lol
