The fact that you are in Thailand adds such an interesting aspect to your content. I really enjoy listening to you talk about life in Thailand as much as I like the mushroom info. Ed's Kitchen videos are my favorite! đ
Thanks. I think that might be the name of my new video series. 'Ed's Kitchen'. Maybe they'll put me in the food category. LMFAO
I have to say, Ed. My wife and I are building a house in NM to retire in. I am planning to grow gourmet mushrooms in retirement and maybe the silly's will be legal by then, and I'll have a head start. But barring all that, if my wife, for whatever reason, passes before me when I'm retired, I'm gonna live the rest of my days in Thailand. Granted, everything changes, but I have definitely entertained thoughts of expatriation to a simpler, cheaper and more fulfilling life. Not because partying(although, that could be a plus) but because it seems fairly fulfilling. I've done all the drugs, I've done all the bad things, and like you say, that's not where happiness lies. Thanks for all you do, sir. Mad respect.
Street food and markets would be pretty cool. Interesting locations. Show what mushrooms the locals are selling!
Yes this!
Fun peek into the area you live đ.....strap a go pro to your helmet and do a short motorcycle tour of you suburbs .....do voice over for audio and you will not have to worry about music copyright crap. Love your videos Ed!
Interesting, Thanks
Thanks for this Ed. My wife is Korean and I get sick of the "Asian Massage" jokes. We have more secret debauchery issues per capita here in the states, and in Thailand things are just more openly celebrated so it becomes a stereotype. Besides... the mycelium does not care who the neighbors aređ
That is the great thing here. No one really gives a shit what you do as long as you don't bother anyone. I think the stereotypes are also hanging about because some of them are true, but like you said, same thing everywhere.
Pretty cool to get the real situation it's always a mystery unless I watch a documentary thanks Ed nice to get more knowledge on that beautiful country
Oh and I'm sorry if I'm asking something somebody already asked I don't usually read everyone else's comments
Iâm retired Audio Engineer, 20 years. Happy, married.
ShhhâŠâŠ donât tell.
Can't wait to retire in Chiang Mai one day. Thailand seems like one of the best countries in the world to live in and actually LIVE for reasonable prices and with minimal crime and nonsense. I think YT has a tool for removing background music with AI to avoid copyright claims (or maybe it's for addressing them after the fact? not sure but worth checking into since Thailand seems to have music playing outside all over the place and somewhat hard to avoid.
Best country I've been too. :) Chiang Mai is a lot busier than it used to be when I lived there 18 years ago.
Edward, thank you for this. When Betty and I first found you, we weren't sure about you. It was the whole no shirt thing. I now enjoy your posts and have watched them all. Love your flow hood work with dishes. You have taught me much. Thanks again. BTW we are in Bristol, Tn.
Glad you stuck around. I actually don't like wearing clothes when I'm at home and as you know, it is hot AF in my kitchen. I still miss TN sometimes. I lived in Knoxville for 4 years doing school.
It would be cool to see some of the street food options
I love thailand. Just havent been able to go back yet. â€
Right-on!

Mai ben rai. Thank you for watching. You'd fit right in quickly if you typed that yourself! I starting learning to read Thai cause I thought it looked pretty :)
@@edwardgrand you're certainly welcome, and thank you for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge so generously.
â€Thailand, but unfortunately I haven't been back since R&R a couple times during Vietnam. But it's definitely on my Bucket List.
âđ»
Great video. Life is life everywhere. I spend a lot of time in India and Iâve been to Thailand a few times. Itâs one of the places I would consider retiring to. Itâs a beautiful place, food is good, roads are mostly good now, people are generally very nice.
When he does his kitchen videos look out don't stare at the floor or the counter be warned..... ED1K Ur the man!!!!
I usually get distracted by kitchen tiles and shimmering water in the toilet bowl ;)
I am so glad you decided to give a bit of a run-down of living in Thailand. I think foreigners have a pre-conceived notion before going to Thailand, whether for a brief visit, or potentially an uprooting and transplanting there. Thanks for sharing your experience there!
I just realized there are tons of YT channels about living here. Everything from college aged guys to retired expats. I think none of them really do it justice. Living here day to day is amazingly normal.
@@edwardgrand right about now I could handle some normal.
You make me laugh so hard.đ
Do you speak Thai? If so when did you learn and how long did it take?
If you go mushroom hunting out there I personally would love to see that.
Cool video dude, Iâve always wondered what it would be like to live in another country! âïž
It's really not as weird as you/I thought it would be. Eat, sleep, work, bonk, repeat.
@@edwardgrand do a lot of people speak English there or have you learned the local language?
@@SmallMouthNoises You can get along with English fine. There is always someone around who can help translate and most signs are in English and Thai.
How do you manage to grow cubes in the warm season in Thailand ?
People forget, cubes are a tropical species :) This is where they naturally grow. My babies live inside with me, so they probably get a bit chilly sometimes.
Damn a nice condo for $300/month. Thatâs awesome.
Iâd like to complete my PhD in the states and then maybe spend some time living monastically in probably the Buddhist Thai Forest tradition. Are you familiar with Buddhist monasteries?
Yes. I am familiar with them. It is an integral part of life, especially for young men. There are many places they would be happy to let you stay.
I've been thinking about Thailand ever since they legalize the herb. Really would like to know more, needed a daytime tour. Can anyone move to Thailand or is it hard to immigrate?
Easy to immigrate, but you need some way to support yourself. Selling weed isn't gonna be enough. I have 5 dispensaries within a 2 minute walk of my condo.
I would have to learn the language to live in another country and I was wondering if you could do a video on second flush what exactly do I do for that
Most countries default to English if you don't speak the local language. You'd be fine.
Second flush shoeboxes? I just pick the babies, soaked the cake in tap water for 2-10 hours, rinse/drain it, and put it back in the tent.
@@edwardgrand do I put it back into the fruiting tent or the incubation tent?
@@PocketFullaShrooms fruiting tent
What Drew you to Thailand to begin the beautiful country, Buddhism, a women, party life, the food what??? And what made you stay? Love?? Also if you don't mind me asking what do you do for a actual profession???
Food, weather and mushrooms. It's a long, complicated answer.
I'm curious what made you move there?
Food, weather, employment, mushrooms, freedom. I was just getting bored in the U.S. to be honest. After traveling a bit outside of U.S., that curiosity gets the best of you.
How did you end up in Thailand?
Airplane. LOL. It is a long story that is scattered throughout the comments. Basically, food.
If I was single I'd move there, sounds sweet. Got kids and a wife though lol. If I ever did manage to get over there I'd definitely have to stop by and say what's up. đâ€ïž
You can bring them all ;)
Can you share your type of Employment, Feel like teaching could be a possibility
Thank you very much for all you do, all the knowledge u drop Ed 1K% â€â€â€â€â€â€
Teaching is the main occupation for foreigners here. There are always jobs. Pay really depends on you qualifications and experience like anywhere. it might not be western wages, but the standard of living will be far superior. Check out this site. Be careful, you might have a job by tomorrow!
www.ajarn.com/
Lots of 'English' teaching jobs, but science and math teaching is where the money is better.
I've always wondered about your story how you headed up there. I guess you went down there to study. My brother moved to the Philippines and married a Filipino. Don't the women really take a liking to the Western men? Thanks for the interesting video
The woman here are no different from any other country, but if you make 5 times the salary of a local, some woman will give you more attention. Same same everywhere.
@@edwardgrand true! I think I have seen your nipples more than your face haha
19 years living there OMGGG. How old are you? jajaja đđ
I'm in my late 40s. I've lived here for more of my adult life than I did in the U.S. :) A little weird to think about it like that.
I found Thailand to have extremely friendly people, but a bizarre fondness of Western culture. Kapkun crahp!
The whole world is becoming 'westernized' now. The ubiquity of brands, global commerce, and entertainment is making everywhere seem the same.
