I just received a new Yamaha with more channels. You have saved me a lot of time. Very good job with clear instructions- thank you.
@@tomblack4437 you’re welcome Tom. Thanks for watching and well wishes to you with your new mixer. Which mixer did you get?
Enjoying your video in Toronto, Canada in May 2024. Excellent work! You are great at explaining things. Nice camera work too.
Thank you Wayne. Toronto in the place to be. Good success to you brother..
I'm about to buy one of these mixers and I'm glad I watched this because it seems counter-intuitive. I would've assumed that pressing the "stereo" button would've meant sound would come out in stereo, which in my mind means both speakers. Thank you for clearing that up!
Glad to help. I was racking my brain a lot over this mixer so when I figured it out I just wanted to help others with the problem.
Great video! I "kind of" new how it worked before, but I know I really know thanks to your demo. Thanks G!!
Word MrMaui38. Thanks for watching supporting this channel. Good success to you!
Great demo for people just getting started with the basics. Thank you.
Right on brother and thanks for watching.
good video i wish more people did them like you do very informative thank you
Glad to help and thanks for watching.
So funny that made this video now. I had a problem on my August 5th wedding because I must have pushed in the stereo button when putting the mixer away the night before. I was only getting sound from one side and it was creating a ground loop in the system. After swapping out every single xlr to no avail I hit the button and viola back to normal. Thanks for all you do G. Best JB!
Right on Jonathan. We all learn how we learn bro. Thanks for supporting.
Man, thank you so much for explaining that. I have the same exact thing happened to me last weekend at a gig, and I was so confused. I had to unplug the microphone and plug it back directly into the back of my DDJ 1000 instead of the mixer. I was still planning to figure it out when I stumbled on your video. So thank you so very much for explaining that. It means a lot, and that has helped me out a great deal.
Glad to help my friend. This little mixer has been a challenged many of us so I decided to share with the Dj community once I figured it out.
I like your video a lot . Thank you for making such a good teaching video 🎉

You're welcome Andrew and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for a well-explained video. I understand that having a balanced connection is the best setup if possible. If I run an XLR/TRS to TRS (balanced cable) from my dj controller to channels 3/4 or 5/6 fo the MG06X that is “unbalanced”, then the connection becomes unbalanced? Are there negative effects on this?
AWESOME VIDEO! Thanks for the 411 G Fire!
Thank you for watching DJ PC Baby. Good success to you.
Thank you
You're welcome David and well wishes with your mixer. Thank you for watching sir.
Hi Gerald, So essentially if I had a microphone going into a seperate piece of hardware like a Boss VE500 (Vocal processor) and connected it with two XLRs to Channel 1 & Channel 2 and pressed the stereo button on the mixer, this would give me stereo?
That is correct. Channel 1 of your Boss VE500 would sound off in the left speakers and channel 2 would be heard from your right speaker.
Thanks for the video. Question, in stereo mode on channel 1/2, are both volume pot active and the audio level can be different between 1 and 2 ?
You're welcome, The volumes on Chanel 1 and 2 can be set to different levels. Both pots are active.
@@gfire_productions thank you 😊
@@acarrado You're welcome.
Great video... one question what if you had 4 separate sources like instruments and or iPads etc, could you use lines 3, 4, 5, 6 ?? Say iPad mono for iPad/TV , 4 for guitar, 5 for keyboard and 6 for drum machine or another guitar?? Do you get what I’m trying to understand?? ‘OR’ is it ok to use double up adapter to have 4 separate sources 2 for 3/4 and 2 for 5/6 Stereo??
Not quite and this is why I disagree agree with how they market this mixer as 6 channel. Notice how I only had iPad audio from channel "6" in the right speaker only but the same iPad in channel 5(L/mono) was in both speakers. Certain mixers may have had the concept you thinking of with 3/4 5/6 7/8 etc.. channels but did tricky pan button stuff to expand the number of channels. You then had to adjust the pan on the channels and the volume on each mono instrument to get that perfect balance.
If you need more channels, I suggest just upgrading to the Yamaha MG10XU or bigger according to you needs. In many case now days these 3/4 5/6 7/8 type inputs are designed for 1/4 stereo pair for tablets/phones/laptops, stereo keys and such. L/mono line input on the mixer is designed for mono keys(out of left channel of the keyboard), guitars or any mono instrument etc… Otherwise, you could have all the "R" channels of 3/4 5/6 heard in the right speaker only.
@@gfire_productions Thanks for the detailed response you are star. I'm only going to use it for a little home mic set up but wanted understand it's maximum potential if a situation arises. i.e jamming session.
@@andygeorgiou2846 right on brother.
How would I connect my Yamaha MOXF8 to this mixer?
@@TheSoldout1 connect a 1/4 inch TS cable from you keyboard mono out L to a DI Box and then an XLR cable from the DI Box to the XLR input 1 or 2 on the mixer. The other option is to he a pair of 1/4 in TS cables from the L(mono and R out of the keyboard to Chanels 3/4 or 5/6 of the mixer. Definitely set the volume on your keyboard so it is not distorting or overdriving your mixer. Let me know if this helps.
Thank bro. Yeah I got some steps in for sure but you guys and gals out there watching are worth it.
Hello; I have a Yamaha 10 channel mixer can you show me how to connect my DDJ to my mixer and sub with 2 speakers. Please help
What DJ do you have and do you have one sub or two?
Pioneer DJ controller,
Pioneer DJ controller, 1 sub, and 2 speakers with mixer
@@robertisabel3668 I have a DDJ-SX2 so I connected to channel 5/6 of the MG10XU with an RCA to 1/4 inch cable. Sometimes I connect from my DDJ-SX2 to channels 3 and 4 of the MG10XU. I then I pan channel 3 to the left and channel 4 to the right on the Yamaha mixer.
From the MG10XU I use the L&R XLR outs with both cables going into channels 1 and 2 of a single subwoofer. From my subwoofer channels 1 and 2 XLR output, channel 1 out goes to my left speaker and channel 2 out goes to my right speaker. I have a QSC Sub and Speakers.
Sir what is quality differences between yamaha mg10xu and 6x..
6x is better option then mg10xu?
Basically it comes down to the differences in the ins and outputs. I have the MG10XU in my video room because of conferences and vlogging but the MG06X is a basic PA system for rent or situation's were I only need a couple of mics with the ability to DJ if I want to. As for sound quality the MG06X and 10XU sounds about the same but you have three band EQ on the 10XU versus two band eq on the 06X.
@amicomoviecentre6903
how are you Mr i am from Ethiopia please well you help me please please i have qsc rmx 5050 power amplifier and Yamaha MG06X STEREO MIXER SO HOW CAN I Connect from power amp to Yamaha mix please show me or send me the procedure please please
Hello my friend and thanks for watching. I would have to connect XLR out of the MG06X to XLR in channel 1 and channel 2 on RMX5050. Then Connect speaker or 1/4 TS out to the speakers accordingly. MG06X is set to mono so that both microphones 1 and 2 goes to both speakers through the amp. If the MG 06X is in stereo mode Mike one will go to the left speaker and mic tool go to the right speaker. That is the gist of my understanding for now.
any way mr money thanks for your good answer thanks but i don't understand please show me by photo or pdf file or other file thanks

I did not see the controller connected
Hello Superdad thanks for watching. At about two minutes and three seconds of this video, from the back of my DDJ is a power cable and RCA cable with a Velcro holding the two together. The power cable goes into the back of the mic rack with the power conditioner is and the RCA cable converts to a quarter inch it was put into channel 3/4 in the Yamaha MG06X mixer. It was a little bit far away with the camera so it's hard to see. You might have to pause that part and then blow the video up bigger.
@@gfire_productions thank you for details. Do you plug into both channels on mixer?
@@superdad8274 Yes I do.
@@gfire_productions do you come out rca but then TRS? You don’t need to utilize both 3/4 but only 1 channel?
@@superdad8274 My DDJ has both XLR(L & R) and RCA(L & R) master outputs. In the video I uses the RCA (L & R) outputs from the DDJ and then converted the other end of the RCA(L & R) to TS(L & R) to insert it in to both channels 3/4 in the Yamaha MG06X.
