    Your explanation of Gain is correct - I like to add something - Gain is the Preamp volume to the Darlington preamps,- it is a volume knob that controls the signal input power of those amps

    You are so right Tim, I was intimidated by mixers because of all of the button. You made it seem so easy with this video. Now I just have to prevent my credit card from buying this online.

      LOL I keep my Credit Cards in a lock box so they don't escape.

    Timmy, I have been looking at the meter on the right, while you were speaking. Why wasnt there movements of the green, amber, red lights that responds and shows you your levels?

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  Před 4 lety

      I think that is actually because it's at a bad angle. Those lights aren't that bright.

    Ya know, I always enjoy your vids. Keep it up!!
    Do you ever use the built-in EQ/sfx or do you usually do that in post? The mixer is a bit of an overkill for typical VO, but for the price and versatility, ya can't knock it. From a good standpoint, doing live directed sessions, there is usually a mix of them wanting the pure audio from your studio or those that run their audio through an expensive channel strip like an Avalon 737sp. What do you have as a backup preamp/interface?

      Like compression I prefer to use a little on both the mixer and a little in post rather than fully one or the other.
      Yes the extra features on the mixer do seem unnecessary to most but I use all the EQ and Compression features pretty much every single day. Also a lot of voice recording apps leave something to be decried in the post department. This mixer gives me the ability to plug up my phone to it and just do the recording without having to worry about EQ and Compression. I can plug, record and go.
      I use it for doing long recording and live sessions where I don't want to or can't edit afterwords. Also one of my goals is to have a studio where I record other people and multiple at a time and a mixer is something you will need for something like that.
      I have a few back ups but the best go to is the U-PHORIA UMC22. No features but has lasted a while. I am hoping to upgrade and move my current mixer to backup, but that may be a while.
      I had a compressor strip one time but didn't know how to use it. Also didn't have a good place to mount it so not a lot of experience with those.

    If i use a condenser microphone on line 1, does that mean I can’t use input 2,3 and 4 with dynamic microphones or guitars etc? Basically making 2,3 and 4 useless?
    Can i use my guitar amp as the speaker?

    Can you have two or three different instruments or mics with different effect for each one?

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy

      No it has one effects option and you can only change how much the channel is effected.

      @@FunnyGuyTimmyright, so if I'm understanding you corectly, each CHANNEL could have its own level of effects, like if for band use, as part of your PA, you could have an effect on the guitar, but not the bass, and a different level of said effect on the vocal...or maybe I'm misunderstanding.
      Would you even use this for a band? I saw a guitar dude selling a slightly different model, the Yamaha MG 10/2, and he said he used it as the backup mixer for his PA.

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@advancedraymondology2914 it can have varying levels of the same effect on each channel but it would be the same effect for all channels, yes. Yes, this would be good for bands.

    Did you run this into another interface like a scarlett, or did you run this direct into your pc?

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  Před 3 lety

      Right into the PC. It acts as the interface as well, via it's USB connector.
