    Omg, I'm SOOO thankful I've found your channel before buying a mixer for my DJ setup!! I noticed the mic input of my Numark Mixstream Pro was pretty weak, also I needed 2 mics for an upcoming gig. So, I was looking for a no-frills, easy solution to output 2 mics and my controller to my PA speakers. My only requirements: the mixer should have at least two XLR inputs, one or two 1/4'' TS stereo inputs and XLR out. Behringer offers some great mixers for very little money, but they all lack XLR out. Just as I was about to buy a pair of XLR to TS cables, I discovered this video. Needless to say, I immediately ordered the Yamaha!

    I’m a DJ and allow me to say that I absolutely loooooove my Yamaha MG06x! She comes with me literally to EVERY GIG since I bought it last year in April 2023. My main mixer I run is the Mackie ProFX6v3, I bought THIS MG06X initially to have as a secondary unit for Ceremonies with the Mackie doing Reception/Ballroom duties. But it’s so compact, D-Pre’s are so clean 🤷🏽‍♂️ I just keep it in my backpack 🎒 with my mics etc and use the Yamaha instead of the Mackie…which stays in my duffle for whenever I want/need it.
    Incredible review as always Mr. Kettner! MG06X is popular for so many reasons. There’s NO USB like it’s bigger brothers in the MG lineup or like my ProFX6v3.
    However, whenever I’m recording
    I always use my Scarlett 2i2 which sounds better than my ProFX6v3 and ProFX10v3 internal USB interfaces
    Thanks again for all the incredible tips, tricks and techniques!

      Do you already have the MG12XU? I have been looking at that mixer for quite sometime now especially after I got my MG06X to ultimately replace my Mackie ProFX10v3 for my DJ gigs which require (4) or more Mic inputs OR whenever I’m doing podcast production.

    So great your tutorial videos. Benefited a lot from them. Thank you so much for your hard effort.
    I have one question since I am quite new to this thing. Do we need to use a power stabilizer for the mixer? I am afraid that the mixer gets damaged due to direct power supply.
    Thankyou.
    Much appreciated

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  Před 2 měsíci

      A power stabilizer or power conditioner is always recommended, but no manufacturer says it's required. It's been almost a decade since I've used one.

    Yup, I really hope they make an updated version of this guy with USB and maybe mute buttons too. Love this mixer otherwise.
    Quick question, do you have any idea if an electric guitar or bass can be connected to the XLR combo jack?

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It can, but the impedance mismatch might be a bit off. Try it, but if it doesn’t sound good, you’ll need a DI

    • @Rugerman205
      @Rugerman205 Před 2 měsíci

      Agreed. I have a few mixers (2) Mackie ProFXv3 models with USB and this MG06X which doesn’t have it. The models above it MG10, MG12 have USB but you might not need all those extra inputs?! 🤷🏽‍♂️ Whenever I record my DJ mixes I run everything through my Scarlett 2i2 into my iPad.

    Live applications dynamic mic are generally used...what is the application of condenser mic?? For a conference room if I am planning boundary mic which one is best condenser or dynamic??

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  Před 2 měsíci

      In a live application, condenser mics are commonly used on the podium, drum overheads, or boundary mics. But most often, you find condenser mics in the studio.
      Condenser mics are often used for boundary mics.

    Which frequency range is usually causing feedback?? Attenuating the high frequency will reduce chances of feedback??

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  Před 2 měsíci

      Depending on the room, I usually start by trying to remove 400hZ. Those are typically the worst frequencies. That being said, there is often another layer around 8-10k that is problematic. Turning down the highs a little will often help.

    when you're using dynamic mic, don't you need to turn off the phantom power or it will fry the mic, just saying, I might be wrong

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  Před 2 měsíci +1

      No, that’s largely a myth. Any modern (balanced) dynamic mic can handle phantom power without hurting it. It’s a phantom.
      There’s a reason 99% of 6-20 channel analog audio mixes don’t bother with individual phantom power on each channel.
