@@jar407 yes, prices go up over time. This video was made two and a half years ago.
Why does this link go to the Tyler model ? The 7 inch Milanix on Amazon is almost 20 dollars cheaper
@@mjfollrd The Milanix set I reviewed does appear to be on Amazon anymore. The one you found is a different version this review can't accurately represent. The Tyler TV is the same exact TV reviewed in the video but with a different name on the front case.
Ok thanks for the response and clearing that up for me now I can place my order for the Tyler without second thoughts
This portable TV for sure coming handy for adjusting the antenna on the camper
Well, thanks largely to your review, I have just ordered one of these. Even though they are around $80-90 USD now, it still is a decent value.
Gonna have buy me 1 soon for a backup đđđŸ thanks
Got one, made a trip to Delaware County, was able to obtain 43 channels! Now they are locked in.
If antenna man says its good, Im getting one, amazon here i come. Little over 70 with tax.
I just bought a mx14 (14.1) screen . I picked up channels easy thru the scan and the volume level displays onscreen up and down but there's no sound. On the sound menu I have it on standard. In the options menu, it's on English for OSD language. Audio language is on the list but it's not highlighted and skips over the setting if I try to scrolln on to it. Any suggestions ?
I bought the milanix mx12 tv on ebay and hooked it up to my televes datboss and televes vhf [my hot set-up,vhf components removed from dat-boss]and it will not pick up my 2 vhf channels.Maybe a weak tuner?
Antenna Man.. I bought a 13"Milanix flat screen for the kitchen and a wall mount but I cant see how to attach the tv ??? can you help please?
I have a color analog 5-in television if I wanted to use that I noticed it has a jack for an external antenna what would you call the adapter that gives you a coax in there I have the adapter that gives you a two prong antenna thing
Nicely done video no pissing around get right to it and explained everything didnât have to watch it uncrate the damn thing.
And I am thinking about getting an apartment and not buying cable I'll be on the 10th floor would that be high enough just to use an indoor antenna hopefully my apartment will face the channels and maybe I'll get some extra channels being about a hundred feet up
I got their 12" and a similar 10". Watching Football I only get the Spanish audio and can't switch to English Audio. Both TV'S had the same menu software.
Do you know of a portable TV that can change its Audio language?
Im wondering how i would use my Samsung tablet to update the firmware on the tv.
Hey Antenna Man, I currently have this same model of TV but I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a more technically advanced portable set or signal meter. I saw that ChannelMaster had a portable signal meter for $350, but ideally I'd want something under $150.
Mainly, I'd like to see the RF channel of the current channel I'm watching and a more advanced signal meter with either dB or % readings. This unit takes almost 2 minutes to auto scan and that's the only way I've been able to see the RF channel. Also, it scans all the way to channel 69 which isn't even in use anymore - so it wastes like 30-40 seconds scanning. Thanks.
I'll have a video on this topic in the future
Thanks! đđ»
Wow. I just watched the current video on the subject and this came up on the recommendations after watching it.
Same here. Probably a result of the YT algorithm.
Is it small enough to fit in front of your speedometer on your vehicle so you can watch a football game when you have to be traveling ? And do you recommend a outdoor magnet type car top antenna for this sort of thing?
Well it wouldnât pick up while in a loving vehicle
I have a couple of questions. Does the TV have an option for an external battery? If itâs plugged into the car power adapter does it charge the internal battery? ThanksâŠ
It has a car charger that will power it and charge the battery
Ok, 7" is a little small to me.. .do you think their (Milanix) 10" and/or 12" portable TVs will have the same menu system and feature of manual channel tuning and signal meter?
I would assume so
I am not getting a very good reception what should I do
I would only own this as a tester in the event my TV starts to act up, i can unplug from the TV and plug into this one to see if it does the same thing.
I did CATV for 7 yrs and we as techs had a small handheld to be used as testers to let the customer know their TV was bad.
Where would one get an external Antanea?
Hi...I'd like to get the 'largest screen' battery TV...is there one you'd recommend or just as important one I should avoid?
I can't exactly recommend one as I only ever purchased 7" models
how long does it take to charge the battery plugged into the wall and also plugged into the car charger?
Less than two hours.
Thanks - more good info - I have an old COBY CX-TV6 5" bl & w - still in box - not sure if it's worth messing with ?
It's pretty much useless as there are no longer analog tv broadcasts in the US
RJ Jen It will still work in the Philippines
RJ Jen NO AV Input??
Oddly enough I have one still in the box. Got one of those Panasonic pop up TVs too from the 80s I think.
Start a little collection of 70 and 80s tech like I have.
To the Antenna man: What in window antenna would you recommend for better service then receive in the Milanix MX7 Box?
Thank you
Gary R.N.
I am on the 1st floor of a Condo (No access to roof or tree).
The antennas that come with the Milanix TV aren't that good. Try this one: amzn.to/3ezSx8u
For extended viewing while camping can you recommend an auxiliary battery ? Thanks
The TV comes with a car charger so if you have a car you should be able to charge it that way.
I JUST SAYS NO SIGNAL
HOW DO I GET IT TO PICK THAT UP?
Hi thanks im a subscriber.
Question please...
What are some of the
Best Portable Tv Model Names
that are BATTERY OPERATED AND HAVE AV INPUTS
OR HDMI INPUTS ?
Thank you.
Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
I can't get any tv signals. My zip code is 45458. What antenna amplifiers do you recommend?
This is a great amplifier: www.channelmaster.com/TV_Antenna_Preamplifier_p/cm-7778v3.htm?Click=116838&affid=201434
Does this have manual channel tuning, so if you know the physical RF channel you can tune directly to it and see its signal strength (in addition to auto-channel scan)?
Yes but it has to register some type of signal in order to add it otherwise it'll revert back to the channel you were on if that makes sense.
@@AntennaMan So, say I know that RF channel 35 is weak, so I want to tune into it to see its signal strength ... Can I do that?
@@be236 Yes as long as the signal is strong enough to produce some kind of picture and register the virtual channel number.
@@AntennaMan I've been try to get a user manual for this TV.. do you know where I can find it?Or can you post a screen shot of the screen that shows this manual channel tuning and signal meter?
I can e-mail you a copy. You can do the manual tuning with the remote you just type in the channel number and then when you hit menu it'll show you the signal strength.
Can I stream from apple play
It dose come with the adapter to hook up my out side antenna?
Yes it does
@@AntennaMan thanks be good when power goes out đ
I unpacked the box and plugged in the tv and nothing happens. I want to use it in the kitchen but I don't know all the steps to getting started...If you could explain step by step or tell me where to find a more complete video for a senior citizen I would appreciate it so much and can it be connected to direct tv cable where the antina goes in?
You might've received a defective unit. Send it back for a replacement.
I had a few small handheld portable TVs including a couple of Black and White Sonyâs that had a picture Tube which made the picture excellent.
Of course, the digital conversion made them all obsolete. That really pissed me off because there was no Adapter available or digital tuner to make reception possible again.
So I was stuck with paperweights.
This really pissed me off. So I didnât bother looking for small TVs again.
funny how they can take a digital HDMI and down convert it to analog component/S-Video/composite but can't take a digital air signal and convert back to analog ...??
But yea i had a few handheld TV's that i used as testing purpose and now can't be used.
do you suggest i buy this one or the tyler brand.are they the same?.
@northmountainfilms Official Account 2 THANK YOU.
Has anyone tried to connect a retro console to this
Liked your videos...on this TV - What type of batteries? How many?
Rechargeable
excellent TY
Has anyone figured out how to record to the SD card or use the RECORD button at all?
This TV can't record anything - it can only read from an SD card.
can it play mp4 and mkv files?
I'm pretty sure it does but let me get back to you on that. Gotta find my flash drive.
Nice review... So this TV has a strong TV tuner? Nice.. and it has manual channel add/edit? Nice... I've dont know of any other portable TV brands that allows you to tune to a specific RF channel to check its signal strength... If someone knows of such a brand, post it here...
It's better than my home's tuner but not as good as this ATSC USB-C attachment I got for my phone. I'll be posting a video about it this week. It turns your android phone into a TV tuner if it has a USB-C connection.
@@AntennaMan I'm planning to get this Milanix TV (10" or 12") from either e-bay or Amazon soon for this ASTC tuner function.
Cool
Does it have analog Cable TV tuner??
Yes
This TV is sold under several brands names. I tried it several years ago to use at the beach. Not bright or loud enough.
Yeah I would not imagine it would be good at the beach being how bright it is there.
Can you plug in a portable DVD to it from a USB?
no
This is a cute little set! I just found it comical that something this small actually has a remote, lol. I am 56, if that matters, lol. Our first tv was a 13" B & W set. Am I allowed to say that? Are black and white sets even made anymore?
yea considering that this TV is going to be very close to you, WHY need a remote ... LOL ... I am 47 and my 1st tv was in color and it was a Magnavox with the 2 knobs ...
That wee little kitty sure is kyoot... đžâ€ïž

Do you know how to switch it from Pal to Ntsc?
Bill Born NTSC ONLY. ANALOG CABLE TV CHANNELS UP TO 135.
Bill Born Try with your videocam, Nokia Phone, Magic Sing Karaoke machine or cheap DVD player if has NTSC and PAL switch via Menu.
I am staying away from portable TVs until ATSC 3.0 comes around in a year or two.All current televisions will need a converter box again when the change comes. ATSC 3.0 will make portable
TV reception super clear and a much longer range.
That's what I said to myself in 2010 when they announced ATSC/M. A few years went then it was ATSC 2.0, now it's ATSC 3.0. I've read about ATSC 3.0 and it seems really promising but the question is will it ever hit the market or just fade into the dust like the other mobile standards.
@@AntennaMan ATSC 3.0 is already in the works. It has to happen to bring 4 K to all.
It better! I miss good mobile reception like in the analog days. In high school I'd watch the price is right in a study hall on a portable set
Your from Pennsylvania thatâs news watch 16!
They should make atsc 3.0 ones now
this tuners menu ui is like my small kitty tv in my room
Can I connect an external coax antenna?
Yes
It appears this TV is a white label product meaning that some unknown company manufactures it and then sells it to other companies to package it, provide a manual, etc. under a brand name, sometimes with differing pack-in/include accessories. I have what appears to be the same TV essentially under the Tyler brand and their is at least one other brand name selling the same TV model beside Milanix and Tyler.
I agree for the most part with this review. The main issue I had with it was the poor viewing angles of the screen which is due to the fact that it uses a TN type LCD screen (TN stands for twisted nematic). While TN panels are the fastest among LCD panel technologies such as VA (vertical alignment) and IPS (in-plane switching), making them good for gaming laptops and such they suffer from one of the worst viewing angle issues and poorer color preproduction Vs VA and IPS panels. Thus you really have to angle the screen on this TV just right to properly view it and not move around to much or expect many people to all view the screen at once. One of the big advantages TN panels is they are one of the cheapest LCD screen types which is why they chose it for this ultra-budget portable TV. Now I can live with the limitations of the a TN panel on this TV or the fact that itâs down-converting 720p and 1080p HD signals to 480i/p SD.
480 is DVD quality and to my eyes, DVD still looks good. I am not the one that needs a 4K display on a smartphone let alone a 60 inch TV ... All my TV's are still 1080p and they still look great.
Silly question, how do you charge this?
It comes with an AC adapter
Does it work with the digital antenna
Yes
@@AntennaMan might get one but mountains might be a huge problem
I really wanted to know how the USB port worked, but you're kind of skip that part.
You plug in a flash drive to view pictures or videos. It says this at around 0:50
The USB port on these type of devices only allows you to plug in a USB thumb drive formatted in FAT32. You can then view photos and videos on the thumb drive so long as they are in standard image and video formats like âMP3, JPG, MPEG2_HD, MPEG4, MPEG4_HD,H.264, FLV, and MVCâ. For SD cards, there is a separate card reader slot that can be used the same way.
Will it work in a moving car?
Unfortunately the current digital standard cannot be received when in motion. That will change in a few years with ATSC 3.0
@@AntennaMan That is to bad. I was hoping to use something on the go for when I move to Arizona in 2020. :(
u must wait
i have no idea why europeans have to switchover to dvt-t2 i dont understand it
Darn... They are 80 bucks now. Kinda thought about getting one at 60.00.
ANYBOBY?
Runs from 85 to 100 now. Shipping maybe
This video was made three years ago. The price of everything has gone up since because of covid issues
LCD liquid crystal display is a fragile low quality screen that freezes below -4 F. Too much dependence on rechargeable batteries means the machine won't last. It should have plugged into 12 volts easily. Ouch, those speakers are harsh.
Only 90 mins of battery time is a DEAL BREAKER for me!!! Also fatter&thicker than the other 2 I've owned, which my portables averaged 2-3 hrs. WatchTV Time!!!:'(
Glad the video helped you decide. I was about to buy a new phone model and a CZcams review showed me a deal breaker as well
They changed the price to 80 dollars canât blieve that any ways I canât get a digital signal
Any where in my house so I will have to scan when Iâm out of my house
I made this video nearly four years ago. Inflation has affected everything and will continue to cause prices to go up.
Yeah I remember going to Amazon and looking at portable tvs and they where good price
I CANT GET MINE TO WORK 93449
Did you try running an auto scan? If so, you may need to plug it into a good external antenna so you can at least get the TV stations on the list before anything else
TN panel. Junk.
Ill buy it if it was 1080p resolution and a IPS panel
Given that this sells for around $60-$70 on Amazon these days, your not gonna get a IPS panel and 1080p resolution (or even 720P) on such a cheap portable LCD TV. If really are looking for portable LCD TV with a 1080p IPS panel then youâll need to look into one of the several over $100 portable TV models out their that support 720p or 1080p rather this very budget model. Now given that this is a very small TV screen size at 7â or 10â (depending on the exact model) youâll not see much benefit from a 1080p over 720p model at standard viewing distances for a TV of this size so personally I recommend that a portable 7â or 10â HD TV with 720p support would be good enough. Youâre not likely to notice the difference on such a small screen size IMO especially given how many HD channels only broadcast in 720P anyways. But if you really must have 1080p support as a feature on on a portable TV then there are more expensive models of HD TVâs out there. Also consider that you can get devices that allow you to watch HD TV signals in a smartphone or tablet, which is another option for you too.
