How to Connect Any Portable TV to the Internet - Dumb Portable TV to Smart TV

    I got a Pocket Vision 34 Radio Shack, only has an external antenna. This video was super helpful and I’m really interested in making this small Tv work as a smart TV

    Tyler TV's work great. Not the greatest picture but very functional and useful for watching TV broadcasts in a small area. I have a 9" and it works excellent.

      Will a Blue Ray DVD player with screencasting have wifi internet that will connect to a smart TV? I'm seriously having troubles with computer electronics. I don't understand most all of it. Old hunting dog is past learning new tricks but we still enjoy the hunt! Thank you for the videos, it's sinking in slowly for me, very slowly 😅

      I can plug in my high quality digital house TV antenna for good signal reception 📺
      There is no electricity needed for a TV antenna.

      @@WaybackRewind I do miss the amazing long range of the old VHF analog TV signal. I live in Washington State near the city of Seattle and I was able to receive clear TV signals from the country of Canada 📺

    You kids don't know how easy you got it. I had to connect to a BBS with a 2400 baud modem! If anyone picked up the phone in the kitchen, the modem would hang and I'd get disconnected and lose my place in MMUD.

      My first modem was 300 baud. I dialed into the mainframe it was plenty fast enough because it was all text with zero graphics. My first computer class used punch cards. Oh we had it rough.

      The cable I used, for example @18:51 is just a regular coax but with an adapter on the end to convert to 3.5 mm plug.

      @@unitedstatesirie7431 it depends on how you intend to use it. The 7inch is small enough I could mount it on a camera as use it as a monitor. The 9 inch is more for casual tv watching.
      I really like mine and is very useful. I did a lot of comparisons before I picked this one.

    Thank you! Quick question please, the second small TV you used with the Roku you used a 3.5mm to coax adapter. If I plugged in an external flat antenna like a mohu, and then scanned the tv for channels would it pick up the over the air channels?

      Well no, unfortunately you cannot plug an antenna directly into the second small TV, (or the third one either), and scan for channels because it cannot understand digital channels.     Where do you get your older models of these tvs? I love these analogs, and I want to purchase one that's small. Like the handheld or the small one on the top left

      I bought all the used ones off eBay. The biggest challenge is that most are untested so it's a gamble if they will work. Only 4 out if 10 worked and one of those was brand new so it was more like 3 of 9.

      I'm not sure as I bought it off eBay. Thoroughly disappointed it didn't work better. Most analog TVs don't work at this point, and it's not because of the transition to digital tv. They simply just don't work, period. Thanks for watching.

    Ive got a bluetooth FM transmitter for my car. Maybe something like that exists for television frequenties? So it could be wirelessly transmitted?

      A low power TV transmitter seems like it would work over short distances. I tried to see if it would work with the power I have available but it’s not enough. If demand existed certainly they would be available. But in 2009 everyone abandoned these TVs. Thanks for watching.

      @@lori1035 This will work with any television assuming the television is still functional.
      The tuner on my Realistic Pocketvision 24 has drifted very badly to where the channels are off by about 30 channels from where they should be. And I get sound but barely a picture. Probably due to leaking capacitors that change value over time.
      Assuming your Pocketvision 22 still works this will work.

    I went out bought all the stuff i need. It goes fuzzy. Was white screen at one point. Old tv like last one. Rf modulator only has channel 3 and 4. That problem?

      Channel 3 and 4 only should not be a problem ordinarily. What I have found is that old tvs being analog the tuner may have driven outside the range that it's designed to tune in. Set it to channel 4 and then try 2 or 3 or maybe 5 or 6. You might get lucky. If not maybe the TV just not longer works at all. I wasn't sure my TV still worked. I know I had it repaired in the 80s but couldn't remember if it still worked back then. Thanks for watching.

    I got everything to work except the sound. Picture comes through but nothing else. I have something similar to first TV except it didn't have HDMI only AV inouts. So I got the HDMI to AV cord. Any suggestions?

      Check the cable you are using on your camera. There is no universal standard for TRS plugs, (tip, ring sleeve). Sony is different from most everyone else. So its possible you might have the wrong cable.

      They are portable in the sense that there are no connections to anything else. What part is not portable?
      Have you ever seen the televisions from the 60s and 70s? They were the size of a suitcase, and with a handle, they were considered portable.

      @@WaybackRewind I have a small collection about the same size,and not parting with them.They all still work.One is a boom box B/W.Hopefully I can get them receiving somehow without all the extra connections,so they are fully portable.Here in Nerw Zealand where I live I cant buy a DTV convertor.

      Are there no DTV converters compatible with your TV system? It is so disappointing to me that the world couldn't agree on a single digital TV standard.

      It really depends on what kind d of connections your GPX TV has. The order I did it is the preferred order.
      1) If you have HDMI use that.
      2) if you have audio video use that.
      3) if all you have is antenna then use that.
      But no matter what you have, you should be able to convert it.

    How to get over the air channels for a pocket or portable tv like Casio brands when camping or driving out of town??

      I didnt show over the air channels per se, but if you do this method over the air channels are available via the internet with apps. Also in the video I did on free over the air TV those techniques will work on portable TVs if it was an antenna jack, (and most do) and the converter is battery powered, some are.

    You need to recap the Panasonic pop up. Your V sync caps are bad.

      I wish I knew how to do that. Oh I can solder passably, but de-soldering and re-soldering 100s of caps without frying the surrounding components, probably not.

      I just went to power up the Panasonic pop-up and it spewed battery acid all over me and failed to light up. So it has bigger issues now. Afraid it needs a complete rebuild.
