    I love these chunks. It gives me a chance to digest the information. I don’t retain much from long lectures and I really never go back and rewatch things very often.

    Keep on keeping on. I love this series and learning more about the machines and why and how they run as they do. I mean, you can always intersperse them with other episodes but, these are fascinating. I learned with coils, back long ago, and I knew no one who paid attention to voltage. It was the sound and the feel that mattered when one tattooed. BTW, I just took the foundations course. I was curious after the intro and it looked interesting. I can't wait to start it.

    Aye! So yeah, I feel like everyone says the same damn thang. And I seriously just love this so much, so I’m a weird case... self taught. But since fucking 05... I actually believed back in the day that 5r were the ONLY NEEDLE that was produced. That’s how uninformed I was. Now I was taught how to set up and break down. So I thought I was in the good! Anyway, I wasn’t able to get an apprenticeship (in my immediate area) since people thought I was trolling them with my portfolio... saying I was using professional tattoos for my own. Nope. I’m a professional artist in other mediums, so I translated the info I knew etc.... now that I’m in a shop and have been for a bit, I seem to be the most experienced even though there are dudes from large shops I work with. I dunno what I would do without your podcast man... I’ve missed a section of my career by literally taking my time and figuring out how to reach my potential with out anyone else. But it just took fucking FOREVER! I dunno... sorry for the ramble. Just seems as though this is how more and more people are doin it because of the info and accessibility of tattoo gear?

    To touch on the subject i would agree with their not being a set voltage weather for lining or shading. I have some coils that i line no higher than 5.5 volts. Another 6.5 . these are all custom coils so no plug. And then your hand speed has to be put in account. I had to learn hands on but they didnt have all these platforms putting out all this information.

    Thanks for the %10 just bought my second Neuma 4. I got my first one in at the shop last week and I wanted to be able to say it was hyped up. I've been a religious Axys Valhalla user. Adjustable stroke in 5 lenghts it was the shyt for me for years have bought 3 still have 2 gave 1 to a coworker. Well sadly the Valhalla hasn't made it out to play since th 4 came. So at 3.6 end %20 it does it all. It puts color in fast, does solid 12/09 rs(most are more like a loose liner anyway) lines. Voltage parameters are small 4.5-9 but I can't see ever going near 9. I have a decent hand speed and run at between 6.5-7.2 for lining. Can't wait to try the shift grip. Got the 4.2 this time around. Sorry about the long comment.

    I would like to hear about different skin types and how to identify them correctly and how to adjust your style to them, if this changes across melanin ranges and how this may affect healing and aftercare

      @@gregmurphy5014 Good subject. M guess is that melanin doesnt have as much of an effect as age, sun exposure, skin condition but it would be a fun topic to discuss with an expert

    For Carson's Neuma 4, how do you keep the 20% 3.6 from spitting.... I know how to do it on a coil, with a needle bar, but none of that applies to cartridges. I love how it feels, but I'm annoyed at how horrible it spits. I do like the machine. I am glad people are learning about how to build coils from scratch. I think every tattoo artist should intimately know those machines and what they feel like, since every other machine is STILL trying to emulate how they feel.

    I wonder what the new market will be in the next years,maybe there won,t even be a motor or copper winding,just a grip and an electric cable will push the cartridges. Nice video,keep going,cao.

  • @dennismowery
    @dennismowery Před 3 lety

    Lol I haven't watched the video yet but I use only coil and the answer to the question of what voltage do I run my machine at honestly just depends on how I'm feeling ,how the skin is taking the ink and what I'm doing if I'm lining shading or color packing and what technique I'm using so it varies alot lol

  • @dalebogucki
    @dalebogucki Před 3 lety

    I think the themed shows have been very helpful. I wish there was an easier way to find videos on youtube. Yes, I can search google, but what if I just want to look through one channel? I find the really well thought out titles, and well curated playlists work better that tossing my line into the entire ocean that is google. That said, I think what you have done with this series has been great. I wanted to thank you for putting in this extra effort.
    Seperate topic: are there artists that have tried all the black inks? This might be a great thing to slip into the ink series happening now. I’d love insight on whether an ink is brown, or blue based. Which ones age in certain ways. I want to buy more black inks, but every website is focused on the deepness and trueness of the black, and not on what could be done with blacks that age in a particular way.

    I use a machine by vlad blad the avenger and their site is very specific u do black and grey shading at this voltage thin lines at this voltage and color packing at this voltage and so I went and tried the voltage recommended by them and for the most part they were in the ballpark but honestly I like to feel the machines feedback and I figured it out so the voltage thing is subjective to every artist I tattoo at such a low voltage when using a certain technic it blows peoples minds like the Xion I use at 10volts with the longer cam and my coworker who does super soft bng would never dream about that voltage he uses the smaller cam and five bolts so I think it’s super subjective
