- Lots of trouble getting this vintage snowmobile apart, which means that I go through most of my tricks before I finally have the track and drive shaft out.

Heat is your friend.
They made the elan until 96. Ron Thompson has great drivers give him a call
Good fight. You got it. 😊
Thanks!
I remember working on those snowmobiles with my dad and uncles and some of those did snap rings to hold the bearing. One was a Bolens snowmobile and another was an a Alouette.
I have never worked on a Bolens or Allouette, but who knows what will find it's way to the shop?
Those bearing caps pull suction like a working girl at a truck stop that's why they are giving you fits
Huh, you must have removed those bogey bolts prior to the video. When I was a kid we had the same exact sled and I remember breaking almost every bolt inside the inner axle. That was 50 years ago. How time flies.
The bogies were the only thing that didn't fight me. They just came out.
Thanks for the struggle of fixing the old sleds. I run into the same problems with the sleds i work on. What else can we expect from a 50 year old sled. Give that beer a good home!!!!
Thanks Kevin! We started on the RXL Thursday. It will probably take most of the Summer.
I have a 73 ski-zoom comet with the same track and almost the same chain case set up. When I was replacing the drivers the track shrunk ( I always thought that was a myth. Guess not) had enough meat left on the tension plates I had it machined a extra inch. With no snow this year I lost motivation. I am curious how your goin to use skidoo drivers, as they bolt on vs your snow jet ones are not. Cant wait for the next episode to find out!
Tracks shrinking is not a myth. I have seen it several times :)
Not for wimps front drive change out!
It was every bit as bad as a Ski Daddler in that respect.
