So, you'll probably already seen it. He could have changed his weapon to Shield and survive Blood Sacrifice, but he didn't since he had his code. He was a vilain, yeah, but damn he was true to his beliefs too :)

My God what in the world is naofumi's back made out of. Any normal humans should've broken due to the sheer amount of carrying he has to do for every useless character in this show.

That's pretty much the show in a nutshell. All the characters are useless blank slates with no character to make the mc and other two companions look good.

If Tales of the Abyss has taught me anything it's to be wary when the church has immense power within the state. To remember that the church is run by people just as capable of having agendas just like any politician or king. And to be especially worried when the church has its own standing military.
That applies to nearly every organization of people in the real world too, infiltration exists.
Teachers are supposed to teach yet some dont care to, some politicians dont care about serving the people, some cops dont care about protecting the peace, and some citizens dont want to live in peace.
An org can have great values and goals but people have to execute them, some do and some do the exact opposite.

I think one of the reasons the other heroes are weaker is due to the fact that they treat this like an RPG game instead of real life, where all you need to get stronger is fight monsters. Naofumi both trains and realizes that there are actually consequences for his actions.

However-the pope has so much of a god complex and is so determined to abolish the shield that he *won't* use the shield, even when he needs it.
I feel so bad for Naofumi and his party right now. They probably feel like the only normal people here, meanwhile literally everybody else are either diluted or foolish in some way; Motoyasu with his video game Superhero problem, Malty with her 'next Queen' delusion, even the Popeâs anti-Shield-Demon-God complex. There's just so much going on it's almost funny
It amazes me how dense one character can be. And to think, HE ACTUALLY GETS DUMBER FROM HERE!
That said, I do like what the anime does with Naofumi and his party and makes them pretty much reflect the audience in how they react to Spear idiot and his party at this point: annoyed, tired, and just waiting for them to get what they deserve. Don't get me wrong. I love hating those two and counting down to when they pay for the crap they've caused Naofumi and the kingdom in general.
Dude, after the intensity of the previous battle, everything the Spear Guy does in this one is 100% half assed at BEST.

Sacrificing their lives to help people and bring information about concentration camps in WW2? What about having estabilished monasteries and being one of the prime reason why we know so much about Dark Ages by them keeping the records and writing and conserving books while most of the population couldn't read or write?
