Ren the sword hero, Itsuki the Bow Hero and Motoyasu the spear hero have, so far in The Rising of the Shield Hero anime, not really proven to be especially capable or reliable. Some criticisms of the Shield Hero seasons 1 and 2 (so far) have said that the other heroes are useless, and only exist in the story to make Naofumi look good. However, these characters do have a lot of development in store later in the series, and in this video, I give you all the spoilers about Ren Itsuki and Motoyasu, including their curse series weapons, their redemption arcs, their involvement with Malty or Myne, and the answer to the question 'do the other three heroes get better?'.
This Shield Hero video contains spoilers for all of the Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series, which is far ahead of the manga and anime (though it discusses the light novel canon, which is different from the web novel). It also contains minor spoilers for the spin off The Reprise of the Spear Hero. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Shield Hero: Protects himself because he doesn't want to be betrayed again.
Bow Hero: Keeps himself at an emotional distance from other people.
Sword Hero: Tries to do everything himself, believing he has to be one cut above the rest.
Spear Hero: Hey gurl, I got something I wanna stick inside ya.
I think these trauma's are based on thsir weapins to.
Noafumi is sceptical and believes that people will betray him and leave him so he puts up an emotional barrier or shield to protect himself and is unsuprized at betray as a result unless its from people who he unknowing lets into his personal bubble like raphtalia and filo.
The sword hero sees him being in a party as putting them in danger and so goes it alone even more so never really wanting to do so before but definitely now that he feels his suspicions were correct.
Bow hero his is the simplist as it directly relates to when a bow is most effective, at a range.
Motoyasu is... Motoyasu. He trusted a woman because she was a woman and therefore his sin was lust and we'll... Dildo spear is the least of his worries I guess... Considering he also envies noafumi for having filo who he lusts over making his connection to the curse even more so holding on him. So thays why his curse weapon is a marital aid, Because he is eager to please the women he likes.
Edit: yes I only know 2 heros names but that's because the other 2 serve little purpose in the anime and I'm an anime only, but I still don't care about spoilers because I'm not a reactionary person when I watch things.

I remember when my fiance and I first sat down to watch the Shield Hero we joked that the Spear Hero was driven by the spear between his legs. Apparently we were more accurate than we thought given what his curse turns his spear into

It's kinda of a negative for their world that the only reason why the other heroes besides naofumi are as hero qualitie just because the spirit in the shield gets firsts dibs
@@dream6562 the shield 🛡 spirit didn’t get first pick, it simply acquired its first choice, while the first and second choice of the other weapons weren’t available to them so they settled on there third choice.

I like Ren's redemption arc the most. I liked seeing Naofumi playing an almost older brother type of role to Ren.
Ha also kind of had the easiest redemption, well started from the least bad spot. His mistakes were the most understandable, and his damage mostly carelessness and a lack of teamwork, but he never really intentionally did harm. As oppose to Mr. anything this one girl tells me it true despite all evidence to the contrary, and the "Justice" first idiot.
But he also made the least amount of sense being that he was clearly aware of all her previous deeds and still was like “maybe 🤔 she can truly help me,” despite her actual useless and iffy ways.

@@sjmcc13 Even in season 1 Ren at least had the mental capacity to listen to Naofumi about the monster corpses and Naofumi's warning about the church. The Bow and Spear guy, they don't listen to him at all.

He also, at least in the WN, showed the most/easiest genuine remorse for rhe consequences of his actions, like when he found out about the Dragons (adopted) daughter and what they (the village who sent him after benign dragon so they could loot its treasures) did to her...
Or towards the end of the WN he, Naofumi and Spear Gigolo get booted from the world, and he instantly accepted going back (as well as having improved himself in the meantime iirc) while spear gigolo had to be dragged back.
I'm pretty sure the reason Naofumi thinks "Witch" is worse than "Bitch" is because of the connotation. He only starts calling her Witch after he sees her manipulating Ren, and realizing that she's actively quoting what Raphtalia told him after his duel with Motoyasu. Bitch, before this, was only really viewed as stupid or petty.
When he starts calling her Witch, it's him saying she's outright evil and malevolent.
Also the nicknaming thing is a huge part of Naofumi's characterization in the light novel. I wish they incorporated it in the anime with an inner monologue.
I thought it was because he combined Whore+Bitch=Witch
Plus, Witch could be seen as a combination of Whore and Bitch, at least in English.
Naofumi annoys Raphtalia a lot with his habit of nicknaming practically everyone he meets.

Well, good news is that even King Trast gets fed up with her nonsense eventually.
If I remember correctly, the Sword Hero (can't remember his name) wasn't like the other two. When he did something wrong he apologized and attoned for it. When the whole trial thing came up against Naofumi he was one of the few that found it all... coincidental. I think he actually grows later on and is more then straight guy.
Well he the best but the training ark that happens before the spirit tortoise shows he's just as entitled as the other heros
well, out of the three, ren is the one who is somewhat recovered the most, actually working hard and making amends
Bow bitch just loses his mind completely and is just a doll with no strings
Spear F--er, he just gets demoted to comic relief and a gag act.
Spoilers:
Ren becomes an actually chill dude after his arc
Itsuki literally has no personality after his own arc
And Motoyasu, if you thought he was a simp now, becomes even more of a simp later on, this time without any brain cells left, not to say that he had any to begin with.
That's actually the reason why Ren is my favorite of the loser squad. Even though he is still an entitled child in the beginning, he still takes the blame for his own mess ups.

Understatement
Fun fact; Each of the heroes is based on one of the stoicistic virtues*. Naufumi is Prudence, Itsuki is Justice, Ren is Temperance(hah), and Motoyasu is Fortitude.
*The four virtues are; Prudence, the craft of adapting yourself to be correct within the world(become correct, learn the truth, and grow as a person). Justice which is paying harm with harm, and kindness with kindness. Temperance which is holding yourself back to prevent adverse results from your actions. And Fortitude is refusing to bend to that which apposes virtue.
Fortitude has no meaning without Temperance, Temperance has no meaning without Justice, Justice has no meaning without Prudence, and Prudence is useful but powerless without the others.
Also Naufumi Iwatani(I hope I spelled that right), means "Rock Valley", or really it's a Japanese was of using the English term "Rock Bottom". Which is exactly how this series starts.
It's "Naofumi".
There was a blink and you miss it but in the anime, Naofumi did hint that maybe they had game knowledge about the situation when having the meeting.
The problem is that they're so callous amongst themselves, they still don't even trust what the others say despite them all having proven validity at this point - but despite getting shit on by Glass and L'arx, and literally told will get sat down if they try to fight again.
The problem is the core of the anime that takes place before the Isekai - essentially the "storyline arc" that has yet to or will not ever happen, has been slathered with tidbits of info implying that the other heros had "their respective hero slot blanked out of the tome because it was their story to write." Which is why the other 3 know of "the shield hero" but naofumi barely understands the lore at all.
That s1 e1 scene where they all look at him like a country bumpkin at the start, kind of self proves that they weren't going to rely on him from the start regardless of what Slut/Bitch would've done.
That is part of the problem all 4 of the hero's are playing a different game and naofumi is rather than playing the game he is living the life as if it is all real.
The other 3 seem to not grasp the gravity of the situation and they also seem to have "died" prior to summoning vs naofumi who was reading a book in the library.
@@Lunas2525 True. It's basically plot armor why they are even live now. The other 3 heroes on trash casual gamers in there world. The anime skips a lot of the game mechanics and I remember a rumor that the director doesn't understand gaming so I like to judge anime with that in mind. For example. Filo and Naofami did a combo skill in ep 3 but because it was skipped in book 5 and we only seen Raphaila do something like that. I can understand why others would be confused. Now that I think about it. Have we ever truly seen how weak the Shield Hero is without the Wrath Shield in the anime. Naofami can punch you in the face with all of his strength and you probably wouldn't feel anything.

Personally I headcannon that Motoyatsu is still insane because unlike Itsuki and Ren - who were saved by the power of friendship - Motoyatsu got into the mess he was in because of the power of friendship; so the author just put his route in reverse.
Also one of the greatest moments in the series for me is when Naofumi & crew are getting decimated by some especially powerful enemies and Motoyatsu Initial D's into the scene and straight up decimates.
That moment was a terrifying reminder that for all the strength Naofumi has as a legendary Hero he's still the Tank. We got to see the power of a pure damage dealer at that point.
And they way he got that strong still cracks me up. "If father says the other level up methods are true then they must be!"

Now I'm imagining Naofumi and the others fighting a desperate battle when Motoyasu just zooms in out of nowhere with "Deja Vu" playing over it right before landing in the middle of the enemy forces and exploding on impact.🤣🤣🤣

Oh my god that scene in the light novels had me dying because of how quickly he destroys them.
Another favorite would be when Naofumi is hearing massive shockwaves, and it just turns out to be Motoyasu fighting Ren because he overheard Naofumi talking about capturing Ren. I like how he went from being annoying in the beginning, to just being hilarious later on.

Do you think it’ll be covered in season 3?
@@mask938 I'm confident we'll probably be able to see the curse series of most of other heroes, as where its left off now is volume 10 and we see Ren and Motoyasu's curse in volumes 11-12. There's a good amount of world building that I hope the anime really takes its time with next season which adds some gravity to the situation for Naofumi to find the others. I don't wanna say more to it as I feel like it would be going too far. We might not see Itsuki's curse series until maybe the end as there were a lot of arcs that took place before then, including Naofumi looking for the Demi humans from Raphtalia village and fighting in a tournament to get enough money to buy them. I believe it took another volume after Naofumi helped Ren recover from his curse before we see Itsuki. Of course if the anime is able to cover it all we might also be able to see Itsuki's curse series no issue.
I do wanna say you don't need any special service to really get into the light novels, as there are readings of light novel volumes on CZcams you can just listen to which is what I did since I'm not much of a reader. It definitely got better after the spirit tortoise arc as that felt pretty boring even in the light novel and manga so I can understand them skipping that arc only but not the rest.
As an anime-only viewer of the series, I had absolutely no idea that the evolution of 3 seemingly background/comic relief characters could take such intricate and imaginative routes (holy crap Motoyasu!). Hopefully, the anime will be expansive enough to properly display the development of these characters without compromising the pace of the story.

Motoyasu because of this also become some sort of a psycho who has no problem or even second thought in killing women when needed because all he sees of them are pigs, sometimes even gleefully killing them, from total simp to total psychopath. the only woman he sees and treats nicely is Filo or those connected to her otherwise they are nothing but animals or even monsters for him and will kill them if he deems necessary which is not much

Yeah......so...those guys' Cursed Arcs are hella wild. It was a nice touch to find them at their worst, surrounded by almost nothing except consequences.
Great thing is, the parts Natalie talks about here are not even CLOSE to being the craziest, most fun, most rewarding tales in Shield Bro.

Ren got the best redemption arc, while Motoyasu got too comedic/dark(once you realize that Motoyasu just developed an even worse trauma that he'll never recover), meanwhile Itsuki got the weird one and has to continuously be improved.

I think it was hinted that bitch gave itsuki the "justice bow"(his cursed bow, he claims bitch gave him special power.) I dont think pride fits him as a curse.

@@paradox2702 I think pride does fit him as he basically he had the mindset of "I'm the best, I'm always right, I'm always heroic" and seemed to basically only.do the hero work (in the beginning) so people can give him praise. In fact, it was so bad for him that he couldn't see that his party actually respected him but just only praised to keep him happy.
Reprise of Spear-Hero Motayasu became comedic relief
From what I understand is that
Ren is not only the quickest to being the best but also that in general the most competent and understandable
Itsuki while can be the worst also has a stronger mind then Motoyasu therefore he makes it out
While Motoyasu has a weaker mindset and just downright foolish meaning it’s not intentional but he’s just to dumb for his own good
The scene where nofumi confronts the two of how their lack of awareness has caused innumerable damages comes to mind.
Itsuki attempted stop nofumi but Ren stopped him before asking what he did wrong and when the shield hero explained what happened to the dragon corpse you could actually see some sadness.
@@jackmack4181 yeah, Ren mostly just didn't realise that things were different from the game but tried to learn from his mistakes, while Itsuki was unwilling to accept that anything was his fault even when he realised it was different from the game.
Motoyasu was basically the worst of all 3 of the others plus had his own faults.

Crazy how the story book about the princess jumping from hero to hero actually foreshadows what mein does besides what she did with noafumi and motayasu
Yup. The novel is quite full of hint that become relevant in the future. Even some that seems uninteresting, like the remark Naofumi makes in the novel about the princess : "wow, this princess seems a bitch".
The Japanese word for 'Witch' that Naofumi uses is closer to 'Hag' in the mythological sense like Baba Yaga, the old crone in the woods casting curses on people and being generally unpleasant. So in that sense, it is worse than 'Bitch', but it is violently lost in translation going into English. Also, Itsuki got done the dirtiest with his Curse, but bless Rishia for dealing with it, the adorable cupcake she is.
I do hope Motoyasu's redemption/fixing it arc is next, strictly because a less insane Motoyasu seems infinitely more helpful dealing with the Cheaters than an insane one. Like, crazy Motoyasu is funny, but it also seems unconducive to the plot going forward.
Motoyasu will not change even after death which is when reprise takes place which has broken Motoyasu

Subaru would be horrified if he saw Motoyasu using his own version of RBD +all those OP powers from the spear only for him to die Over and Over again because of his own stupidity with how he deals with events
Ren's redemption is the best out of the 3. The guy was bested by Eclair who is not a hero of any kind and downright admits he was wrong about everything and everyone

If my memory is correct the funniest part of Motoyasu's warped perception filter on women is that it is entirely unrelated to his curse series, proven by his seeing those connected to Filo properly. Bitch just traumatized him that badly.

Some of that might not actually be the case in the LN though, where the motivations of the one behind the waves and her relationship to them may well be different based on what has happened so far, so I wouldn't assume that's exactly the role and reasons she'll have in the LN/anime canon.

exception 1 , cal mira arc on web is totally different, but i like it more , since they build up the other heroes , foreshadowing why they suck and their fall .
second is the arc of "the new seven deadly sins" , it will probably be axed because what it brought to the story has been acquire somewhere else before .

It's not really quite like that - the powers people have are far rarer than quirks in MHA, and not quite as far out from the sounds of it. But yeah, it would be something along those lines with people with superhuman abilities being recognized as existing and being educated in specialist schools.

I genuinely feel sorry Motoyasu. Yes it's true that he was a fool who thought more with the "spear" in his pants rather than the spear in his hands, but it was clear to see that he was a good guy with a good heart. It's sad to see him not only betrayed by everyone he genuinely cared for, and also that he's the only one of the heroes who didn't regain their sanity after the actiavion of their Cursed Series. Nobody deserves what happened to him... except Bitch

I will only ever believe that Motoyasu was the spear's 3rd choice if Ren and Itsuki were their weapon's 2nd choice. The dude is a bag of character defects from day one.
Like the video stated being the 2nd or 3nd choice of your weapon doesn't mean anything at all as the weapons choices works just like a list (IE from best to worse)it just means that this time the spear weapon's choices were alot worse compared to the other spirit weapons

Powerful, calculating, able to read people and heroic but not in a sacrificial way since that isn't neesesarily seen as a positive trait.
They were some of the best and strongest people imagineable!....and then there was Motoyasu but the spear didn't worry about it because what was the chances it wouldnt get first or second choice this time around!....

@@bibbobella i heard it because the summonings sometimes fails and it kills the summoned characters due to the villains behind the waves interfering with the weapons like you would with electronic devices or something like that the only holy weapon who's immune or at least resistant to that is the shield which is why it nearly always gets it first choice and why it is the most stigmatized/hated because the villains behind the waves try to impede it in every possible way (which fail miserably because the shield has a cult following of nearly all demis which guarantees some allies for it)

The moment ren talks about his backstory I think will be the turning point for this anime.
So their curses are basically:
Naofumi: fiery angry boi
Ren: bandit murderhobo for whom anything valuable crumbles to dust in his hands.
Itsuki: actual brain-washing bow
Motoyasu: Acquires the power of Sir John Phallustiff.
I'm a little on the older side of people who have watched anime. Started in the mid-80's. But I have enjoyed your channel. Your insight into the series is top notch. You are always respectful of what needs to be said, and what doesn't.
I've seen other people diss this season. I kind of expected a let-down after the first season. But I've thoroughly have enjoyed the second season so far as much as the first. I almost think we are going to see some of the cut content so far show up as flashbacks.

A good thing is that season 2 is this wierd most likely because the studio focused on season 3 while also having multiple covid-related problems.
In short if we still get a s3 it should be back to the good Old godlike quality and air no longer than a year after s2 finishes.

I love Itsuki's character-redemption the most. He ends up directly apologizing to Naofumi, going out of his way to say the things he should have in the first place.

You know, I feel bad for Ren. Unlike the other two, he’s never really ridden a high horse, nor has he been particularly negative towards Naofumi, even acknowledging his own faults when Naofumi brought them up rather than make excuses like itsuki. He’s also the youngest, from what I understand
I actually really like the reprise of the spear hero, watching Motoyasu in this broken obsession state looking forever for something he cant have, while also trying to keep naofumi alive in another timeline, and slowly having to adapt and become less annoying
The best part is when motoyasu becomes super op after getting the list spear because he just starts believing naofumi's tips on on to get stronger

To be fair, ren and itsuki were under the effects of their respective curses, meaning

myne was a master manipulator, she uses her body a lot. Do that to a couple of virgin outcast ( Itsuki ) and teenager ( Ren ) and you can get why they fall for a moment, until she awakens their curse.
Thank you so much for this. I was kinda feeling like a lot of the story was going down a predictable and frankly unfun path, but hearing how it's going to end up being without you directly spoiling the specifics really helps me in picking this series back up!

So far season 2 Seems to be out of order as Naofumi seems to have a shield that isn't unlocked until afternoon the spirit tortoise and Rishia should still be wearing the Penguin costume She doesn't get the Felo costume until they go to glasses world By the looks of the opening credits they're planning to do the spirit tortoise and the arc in the other world with the hunting hero
Your first 2 statements are both wrong, the blue Shield Naofumi is currently using a lot so far is the Whale Core Shield he got from the wave boss at the end of season 1, it does look similar to the Tortoise Shield he gets later this arc though. Also Rishia does get the Filo costume before the first encounter with the turtle and it later gets turned into pajamas while in Glass' world
The Shield you are speaking of that he is currently using is actually the Whale Magic Core Shield (which is shown on the cover of LN Vol 6) and not the Spirit Tortoise Heart Shield (which is shown on the cover of LN Vol 7). They look very similar, but he did in fact unlock the former from the Cal Mira Wave boss.
Also the Filo Kigurumi is in use in the Art from LN6.
But the Anime is definitely taking thing quite a bit out of order. Like a certain 8 Trigrams attack.

Correct timings or....not, as a rabid fan of the light novels, I am feeling alarmingly let down by the abrupt changes and cuts in season 2. I am a detail guy, and I am really into new important characters getting some proper space. For one, Eclair, of all people, basically got turned into Team Trainer #2(female), when she is a suoer badass swordswoman, who is torn up deeply about her father's "lackings," and what Raphtalia's village went through. It feels like the Spirit Tortoise was not liked by the studio writers, and "Get to the violence" was their thought.
How......did Arifureta's season 2 improve so hard, yet Shield Hero, after a stellar season 1, shots the best in their season 2?!? Don't get me wrong: Arifureta is tied with Shield Bro and Isekai Maou are tied as my favorite light novel series, so I win regardless. I just would never have considered....this result.
Personally, if the anime does get to the Three Heroes' Curse Weapons, I am kinda hoping that it does something similar with the colored gems that it did to Naofumi's shield (i.e. turned the gem from green to red). However, since the other Heroes suffer from other curses, I think it would work better for the Cursed Weapons' gems to take on colors other than red (or their base color).
I keep imagining Ren's sword gems turning from their normal blue to a bright yellow when he unlocks Greed (since there's a bit of a parallel with Gold and wealth in general with that color). Later, when he unlocks Gluttony, I keep thinking that the gem will then turn Orange, or at least have orange bubbles constantly struggling for dominance against the Yellow of the Greed series since Greed was the base curse.
Motoyasu, I think it is fairly obvious, but I think his Lust Spear will change the gem from red to Violet, and then have Green struggle for dominance once he triggers Envy. My first thought was to go for a pink gem for the Lust Curse Spear because of how often that color is used for that specific set of emotions, but that felt too close to the original red of his spear (and aside from which, Naofumi as Wrath already has red for his Cursed Shield gem,) so the next closest was a purple or Violet. With Envy, I just drew inspiration for the gem going green from the saying of people going "green with envy".
Itsuki, with the Pride Curse on his bow, I imagine will have his gem go from Yellow/Orange as a base to Blue as a Curse. Inspiration for that was the phrase 'Blue-blood' which as one dictionary definition points out, refers to "membership in a noble or socially prominent family", and such families will very likely have excessive amounts of pride in their lineage, hence Itsuki's Blue Curse gem.
With thinking about the colors to use, I drew inspiration from the colors of the rainbow just because of the numerical similarity with the theme of the Curse series (i.e. seven different types of Curses, seven different colors). So Naofumi's Wrath Shield has a Red gem, Ren's Greed Sword a Yellow and Gluttony an Orange, Motoyasu's Lust Spear a Violet and Envy as a Green, and finally, Itsuki's Pride Bow as a Blue. Admittedly that would leave Indigo for a Sloth curse gem, which I have no idea how I would justify, but still.
I'd go whiteish blue for sloth, as it's too difficult to fully colour a gem, and the curse would rather just relax...
You are actually correct about the yellow for the greed series... in the light novel cover we see a cursed Ren wielding a sword with a yellow gem
Also doesn't Ren get the wrath curse also or is it WN exclusive? (as he had unlocked it too but it didn't fully activate/manifest as he was stopped right after that)
I feel like sloth would probably need to be the blue colour.
IDK I just think that fits better for some reason...Whenever I think lazy/bored I always think blue.
I feel like "Pride" needs a "stronger" colour than blue....I know the whole "blue blood" thing would work with pride in a lot of ways but I just can't associate blue with pride at all.
Motoyasu's character arc is... unique to say the least. Also, I couldn't help but laugh at the pixelated image.
This was a great video. It's also a good thing to see that it mostly stayed the same when dealing with the other heroes when going from the web novel to the light novel.
Redemption and healing is a slow process. Honestly I like how it's portrayed in a more realistic way. It takes time to grow as a person for better or worse. And in their cases for the better. The author was playing the long game with the characters and it shows.
Having Malty be the key that unlocked all their curses just kind of shows Naofumi was right about her when he first say her likeness in that book.
I'm going on a limb and saying Ren's curse weapon will be link to Pride for the obvious reasons, and Itsuki will be sloth. Greed and gluttony could go to any of the three, maybe even Naofume, but highly unlikely.

Ren: Greed and Gluttony; Which at first surprised the hell outta me, but makes sense for his character, and the fact that these two sins are very similar to one another.
Motoyasu: Envy and Lust; Not so much here given his womanizing tendencies and obsession over Naofumi (Envy) and Filo (Lust)
Itsuki: Pride and Sloth; You wouldn't think these two would go together, but again it makes sense given how much of a gloryhog Itsuki is.

Yeah, the web novel is a whole separate canon and I've only read bits of it so I don't know enough to fully compare them. I did read the bit where she gets killed though, and actually that *would* have happened in the LNs too, but the king she was sent to was killed by another antagonist before that could happen. So, the brutal stuff still happens to other people, she just avoids it...

Honestly season 2 currently has me underwhelmed and i was thinking that this series will drop off (which it still could depending on how well the remaining eps are directed). But hearing these plot points and details gives me hope that theres good stuff coming ahead, just gotta get thru this small grind first. @@FusionTM_REDRUM Not as of yet, currently in the LN we have seen 2 "Gods" of those who follow "The one who takes the name of god" who is what Goddess Medea is a world eater, we have had info that when 2 worlds of the waves collide enough times they are devoured by said "God" but most of the enemy's post spirit turtle hard have been harbingers of the waves/other isekai people who are strickly in it for power and harems.

I'm curious about something If all three heroes died, and they get sent back after the waves have been completed, Wouldn't that just mean they get sent back to die again? Also I mean this as a compliment, but I find your voice very calming, witty, and lovely. Also ty for these information videos it's nice to learn more about the backstories and lore for these types of series.
This question is actually answered in the light novels - if the heroes were to choose to be sent back to their old world once they have completed what they are there for, the spirits of their weapons do have some influence in those worlds, and will 'undo' their deaths. We learn this when Naofumi gets to kind of 'talk' to the shield, when he is close to death, and the choices the heroes would get as rewards are explained to him.

I didn't realize the author thought that far ahead, I'm kind of surprised the author noticed that loop hole and found a way to close it so efficiently. That's good story telling & planning there. SPOILERS AHEAD
We have Fitoria saying that if one Hero dies she's going to kill the rest so that new heroes can be summoned. At the same time, from what I hear, Kizuna ends up becoming the only living Hero in Glass' realm, and she has to be kept alive at all costs because if she dies the whole world will be destroyed. So, which is it? Can new heroes be summoned if the existing ones are killed, or will the death of the last hero spell the death of their world? Again, I haven't read that far, that's why I'm so confused. Could someone please enlighten me?
I think its a matter of timing, so if there isn't a wave going on then you can kill the heroes and summon a new batch (if you are quick enough). if a wave impacts then the world is destroyed.

Itsuki’s super ability is considered inferior cause another ability called “deadly aim” is considered an improved version.
So basically Itsuki can know how to hit a target or how do a cool rickochet instantly by instinct alone while a person with “deadly aim” basically creates a homing projectile that will always hit the intended target though it was not revealed if it causes extra strain in the user was to make the throw ever more incongruous with the laws of physics(like throwing at a completely opposite direction or with no force in the throw).
He also reveals that Naofumi would be considered a rarity in his world as he not only has one but 2 esper powers. 1st is an immunity to intoxication proven when he ate a highly alcoholic grape in Calmira island that was only in the pub they were eating as decoration and supposedly needed to be distilled in a full barrel of water for consumption and Motayasu proved it was indeed that scary by eating and instantly going in alcoholic coma.
The 2nd is an animal affinity that reveals why true animals and terianthropes like him(with Naofumi remembering that he once encountered a bear and forgot how one was supposed to deal with their encounter and tried to play dead which the bear proceeded to lick his face).
It’s glad to know that this story is going to get alot better. Noafumi is carrying the season of this anime on his back and it feels sore jarring now but hopefully. HOPEFULLY. The rest of the story gets animated and in hindsight this won’t feel as bad/slow.
There’s also nothing funnier than the Spear calling the Shield daddy
Ren 100% is my favorite, honestly even where im at itsuki and motoyasu I still don't care for. Ren is just a cool dude now and is some what reliable.

The heroes in this series seem to only be there to make naofumi seem great. So I am happy they each go through a unique curse stage and redemption.
Now I wonder If there would be more development for Naofumi ?
Because even though his weakness is trust issues. It never seems to be a weakness. When he does trust someone like larc berg he gets betrayed. So is he supposed to learn to not trust someone or what?
At this point naofumi seems to be the only person with a brain and the others feel more like NPC.
If any novel reader knows more about potential development for the main or side characters i would like to know more!
Hearing the explanation on WHY the characters are insufferable still feels a little contrived. I won't be too harsh but to over explain it just highlights the issue to me and tries to lampshade it. That being said I am anime only, but I don't imagine reading or hearing that would make me more charitable in context.

Hope the future epsudoes get better and season 3 is shown a bit more care. if anyone wishes to read the books, as of the time of this comment, up to voulme 22 has been translated. there is also no sign of the next volume being released yet either.
I can only hope that they're skimming through the season 2 stuff so that they can get to the juicy character arcs for the other 3 heroes.
Not gonna lie knowing that the sheild gets to pick first makes so much more sense now in the anime cause the queen was always asking how the shield hero was being treated and had way more faith him than the others

To me Ren seems like a 2nd choice as of the sword/spear/bow heroes he seems the most balanced, yes he has his flaws his solo problem and treats his companions worse then they should but he does want them to get stronger. He needs someone to help point out his flaws.
Damn, the curse effects Ren and Itsuki suffer from are devastating! I wonder if that has more to do with Ren unlocking and using more than one curse series, or if Itsuki's Curse of Pride could be related to the Sin of Pride being the one punished at the lowest level of Hell in Dante's Inferno? Lust, Gluttony, and Envy are pretty close to the top of that list while Wrath and Greed are somewhat in the middle I think.
Pride is seen as 'the father of the other sins', as in they all relate to pride and it is the biggest one. So that would make sense. And yes, Ren and Motoyasu both got two. I don't think Ren's was really worse than Naofumi's though in terms of severity.
@@NatalieXHunter Remind me, what was Naofumi's curse effect? The not tasting anything was psychosomatic; didn't using the Wrath Shield set his defense stats and magic use back a lot? It's been a while since I watched, so I can't remember if the anime covered that or if it was manga/light novel only.
It cut all his stats by about a third.
@@NatalieXHunter Ah; thank God Naofumi didn't unlock the Greed curse series too. Imagine how much his life would suck if something like that messed with his mercantile endeavors early on.
Yeah, though you know, I think if things had been different and nothing had happened to make Naofumi as angry as he was early on in the story, he would have been the shoe-in for getting the greed curse series - it's really the sin that fits his actual personality best.

I recently wrapped up volume 11 and motoyasu was great at the end. With how much Naofumi has struggled to beat enemies it was a bit gobsmacking to see how easily one of the other 3 could handle shit if they just stopped being arseholes. Looking forward to some more.
IIRC, Naofumi was the first choice for all the weapons. The other weapon spirits were slightly salty (but not too much, they still respect the shield) about it picking him.

Since its not a spoiler I will state in the WN the reason the 3 baka heroes loose is directly because of them failing to accept the world there currently in as reality.
Thanks to that They each one party at a time atk the Tortoise; each as a result have an "oh shit" moment after its to late to back out. Its Motoyasu that has it worst since his gaggle of women basically peace out on him revealing their utter lack of faith in him. Rens Team shows off their inexperience and fail to provide an adequate amount of support. Itsukis group... well lets just say they were the least appropriate level of skill and leave it at that. Each had a different theory of how to stop the Tortoise, and all made things worse at each fail.
Then yeah Witch does her mind games BS to each and so the Delusions of Grandeur Hero; the exibitionist hero; and the Pedo hero are born.

Well, when Naofumi was accused of assaulting Myne , the people literally though of him as Trash and Criminal hero. So, it's obvious that perception shift a lot, and the heroes themselves are "damaged" people, unable to deal with suffering.

Watching this video makes the other heroes a lot more likeable, though it is disappointing that Naofumi only get one curse-series weapon.
Motoyasu's CsW is very cursed and very funny.
If it is possible, can you do an in-dept video or videos about the curse-series weapons, their skills, etc?
They don't appear that much and given it's told from Naofumi's perspective we only know what he *thinks* their abilities are (other than the Shield), so I don't know if there's enough information to make a satisfying video like that, but I may do one about the weapons in general and include what we know about the curse series weapons in that.

In the web novel, Naofumi unlocked Greed and he became a Mad Scientist. This is also how he originally created Raph-chan.
It's hinted though, in the light novel, when there's a party after killing the phoenix: Nafumi noted that if he kept thinking about making money that much, he would unlock Greed so he stopped thinking about that immediately.
Motoyasu CHANGES A LOT.... the point is, there is manga ; spin-off : The reprise of the spear hero....
There shows his spear has also ability to make a automatic time loop if one of heroes d*es... (only he has memories no one else💀) He gets teleported back when they were 1st summoned into the world... He tries his best to save the world and gets ties with shield hero.... well ... he still calls him father.... but bc it is past, Filo isn't born yet but he still has obsession with her.... In her word and promise he levels up and makes Sheild hero strong and will try to save world in Filos name ... its rlly interesting and he looks more better person in this manga...
The spear hero spin-off is a cool character development of the series.
