    These people who think space, NASA etc. is all a hoax...why would you want to even TRY to disprove something so immensely beautiful and wonderous? Such small people, with such small minds...makes you wonder if some of the human race are devolving. It makes me feel sad for those people, unable to process the astounding (and yes, sometimes not so astounding) leaps we have made in technology and the understanding of the universe around us. I sometimes wonder if they are just frightened, as they cannot comprehend that we all occupy such a tiny, miniscule part of existence after being bombarded with likes, selfies, movies and the betterment of "self image" instead of the "self".

    • @Nighterlev
      @Nighterlev Před 6 lety +1

      +Draeas Talonsbane The same reason why people disprove if a painting is actually from the 1bc-1800's despite looking so immensely beautiful. There's people who point out how NASA lies a lot, and has provided a lot of fake information, but a lot of them do think we did actually go into space and possibly the Moon as well.
      Facts are facts, not opinions.

      "Choosing-to-be-a-dumbass syndrome" is a really complex issue, and while I couldn't cover every possible explanation, I can maybe hope to give a couple common ones to think about:
      Widespread distrust of authority may be related to ODD in some cases (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oppositional_defiant_disorder) however given how often deceitfulness from bodies of authority (a government, corporate interests, religious organizations) is able to be proved in the advent of the age of information technology and the rise of individual freedoms, even more temper-minded individuals in this day and age are starting to live by Mulder's old adage "trust no one". "Scientists change their minds about things all the time, they don't even know what they're talking about!" is a common one I hear on the net, and it's often difficult for those who do not come from backgrounds that praises the scientific method above superstition to understand why some facts may change over time.
      Science is the noble pursuit of the truth beneath a world of illusions, and while it does not usually wander into the uncertain neighborhood of philosophical questions, it can often challenge the dogma of facts presented by inflexible religious groups. While some scientists erroneously present their anti-religious views as that which science officially endorses, many scientists and seekers of truth are spiritual, even religious to varying degrees and find peace in the pursuit of truth in their own way. A true scientist would admit there is little way for humanity to prove or disprove the existence of a Creator, despite the fact it has contended certain facts presented in the Bible for example.
      Which leads me into my next point: Religious ideologies have probably always been the most common case of fact-denial in the world, and because people in these groups are told for many years that their religious view is infallible and spiritually pure, they strongly attend to antiquated facts and can be difficult to admit that what they have been told all their life is wrong, even if the proof is in the pudding. A lot of religious folk that deny discoveries of space or physics often say that these facts are presented as lies intended to estrange us from the spiritual truth of reality. While such suspicious views are usually telling of a persons mistrustfulness of society, they often reflect the bigger sorrow of a disbelief of the beautiful and profound and astonishing efforts of humanity. They also deny the beautiful which is observed by the world as a whole, and only accept that beauty which is beheld in their own eyes. To them, the world is more beautifully made by a benevolent Deity in 6 Earth days. To me, a cascade of fantastically unpredictable circumstance begun by energy congealing into particulate matter is beautiful. Those many beautiful societies, cultures, men and women (and those between and without) have contributed to a wonderfully rich cultural, artistic, and scientific world which we live in today. We are not perfect, but we are astoundingly creative and resourceful beings.
      Personally, I believe in a Creator but read religious texts as symbolic and philosophical literature, and I believe that is how they were intended to be read. I love cosmology and it is absolutely fascinating to me. Often times in hardship, the glory of the heavens have offered me much more spiritual comfort and connection than the pews of a church or flipping through the pages of an old book. Everyone has their ways to 'reconnect' to the goodness of life.. and often times I look up in wonder and find that connection as my mind tries in vain to cross the enormous distances of space and time required to make sense of such a vast and complex universe which even more amazingly has produced a way to make itself conscious and even comprehend itself. It does not disconnect me. In fact it inspires me, not to commit to lies or hold blindly to 'truths' told but to explore with an open-mind the amazing opportunity it is to be a human living on the planet Earth in this amazing universe.

    Common misconception about Saturn's density and it's apparent ability to float on water. If it were to be put in a massive bathtub, and we just ignore the gravitational consequences of doing so, the gasses would dissipate over the surface and the rocky/solid core would sink to the bottom. It's an average density, not a uniform one.

It really stands out in the Solar System family. Sad some day this rings will disappear, but Neptune will keep up Saturn's Legacy with thanks to Triton. But the best part is Saturn maybe carrying Earth 3.0 or 1.1.2 to be more precise. ;)

    If Saturn is putting out so much heat, how do the rings of ice keep from melting?

    • @astrumspace
      @astrumspace  Před 8 lety +5

      The heat dissipates a lot before it reaches the rings. In fact Saturn's 'surface' is extremely cold, it's much hotter the closer to the centre you get.

      Eddy Spagetti Saturn has an intense internal heat, and the outer surface is only a fraction of that. Since heat is just the transfer of molecular energy (the speed of the atoms moving) heat doesn't travel through a vacuum. Passed saturn's atmosphere, the vacuum of space is still freezing cold. Saturn does give off a lot of radiation, which can move anywhere, but it doesn't heat things up unless it's in a highly concentrated beam. So while Saturn itself is very hot, the rings are still freezing cold.

    If the hexagonal storm at the pole behaves like a hurricane, what do you suppose would happen if we sent a probe done the eye? It would be a suicide mission for the probe but it could send back some interesting data.

      Hey how's it going! I was hoping you'd see this :) Jupiter will probably be next. Expect that in the new year. Also because a lot of the Jupiter images we see were actually taken by the Cassini probe on its way to Saturn, I'm hoping to make that 4K too ;)

    • @MultiSuperAAA
      @MultiSuperAAA Před 9 lety

      Fine :) Are there no high resolution images from the Galileo orbiter and does the Juno probe have any imaging experiment? Too bad the Europa Clipper will not launch very soon.

    • @astrumspace
      @astrumspace  Před 9 lety

      MünRaker They're not 4K but I will no doubt still use a lot of the images it took. It was launched in 1989 and any images that are HD are usually mosaics. Juno does have a visible light camera but it won't get there until 2016 sadly. I am going to be waiting a while until I do the Pluto video though, New Horizons while be arriving in 2015! :)
