there's a reason almost every culture has a processed meat item in the shape of a tube. sausages are the workhorses of the food world. they keep well, they taste fine even when they don't taste great, they pack lots of calories in small shapes, and how they taste is mainly up to you and how you utilize them. and hot dogs are an extension of that. and there's a reason they always show up in the food pictures. I'm 32 and past my depression meal phase and make all my own food and there are still days I come home from work and just chuck a second-rate sausage in the microwave and chop it into rice or something and call it a day because who can do everything. who. certainly not me. I am not the perfection the world wants me to be. Some days I am just a woman with a sausage and a magic machine that shoots light at a meat tube until it's sort of warm.
