I hate that we have to do school shooting drills now for my lil 5-7 year Olds. One time I had to get the class to play the "silent game" just to make sure they stayed quiet for our drill. None of them knew what the drill was for except for the new kid from Dominican Republic saying "its because people with guns can come right?" This is what they know outside of the U.S.
    Sad world.

kids pick up on parents emotions to regulate. they don't know what meaning to assign to something, like the girl holding the snake. she wasn't afraid of it, she had no emotional reference for it, so she just picked it up, like she would a stick. but when her mom saw it, she got scared and the girl picked up on the mom's emotions connected to the snake and instantly gave it meaning snake=scary/bad. hence the sudden reaction of fear in her. kids will do this type of learning up until the age of 7-8. especially with mom. this is why babies are not scared of anything, they just don't have experience/knowledge about something. they are completely in tune with their mom and dad. what mom feels, baby feels, even if the mom is not showing it, because adults control and supress their emotional reactions. the emotions are still their and small kids and animals can feel them.

I'm not a parent, but I've worked with 3-6 year olds and intend to do that as my full career after I finish my degree. It's so true that a lot of the time, kids just need to figure things out for themselves. They will NOT believe you until you let them do it.
Eg Once when I was a kid I insisted I didn't want to go to the beach, didn't want to bring my bathing suit; when we got there, I was like "....I want my bathingsuit." My mom, being smart, had secretly brought it with her because she knew I would change my mind!
Or I know a little kid (about 3) who, when you tell her there is "no more" of something she wants (like cookies), she needs to actually go over and see that there are none left. Then she's fine - she just needs to see it for herself lol

If you freak out, they will cry if you look at them and say you’re OK usually they’ll just be like OK I’m OK and just keep it pushin

The clip at 0:15 is super relatable. A long time ago when I was like 6 years old I was at Gatorland in Florida. I got picked from the audience to come down to the center pit which was a raised platform with a moat around it full of alligators. The host alligator guy told me that we were going to jump in the water and catch a gator together and he told me the plan. I was a little concerned, but I trusted this professional. Then he said 3, 2, 1 ... and I felt the rush and it was go time and time for me to act. I was a brave kid and I thought that we could do it, so I sprinted at the water and the guy caught me just like this breakdancer. He laughed, the audience laughed, my family laughed afterwards. I realized he used me for a joke, but I thought it was so real in my 6 year old head. Afterwards I realized how dangerous it would be and I could have died if he had not stopped me. I am not sure if that qualifies me as dumb, or just trusting in adults and in myself. Just wanted to share, as this clip brought back those memories so clearly

About the kids crying in the plane/public transport. No one actually hates THE KID for acting this way , but the parents that don't do anything about it and haven't taught their kids not to be loud in a confined public space. Babies don't count you can't really do anything about that , if they cry , they cry. But a 7yo throwing a tantrum in the plane isn't ok.. If I ever did this as a kid I would have been pronounced dead the second we arrive wherever destination the plane was heading

Please! never let a child play on big piles of material like that kid in the background; snow, sand, dirt, gravel, etc. they will fall through and get buried alive. It happened to my dad’s cousin when he was a kid and the parents became estranged from the rest of the family. It was tragic and very sad. COnstruction sites are not a good idea for playing in general. I know it looks fun but it is so dangerous. You shouldn’t do it either. It is tragic and a scary way to go. 15:48

The crayons😂😂😂😂 as a kid, I used to destroy my (.and by “my” I mean my art teachers’) markers to make that asterisk shape… just smashin em into the paper…
Maybe it was … I guess my thoughts as a 6 yr old were “anything in the name of my artistic masterpiece!!!!!”

Cody to answer the carrot question, carrots do technically help eye sight, but barely. When the British invented better radar in ww2, and were able to take down German planes much sooner, they spread that their Troops are a lot of carrots and thus were able to see the planes sooner/easier, as means to throw the Germans off their scent.

cody’s so right about babies on planes… such is life, can’t really help it. babies cry 🤷

It’s actually harmful to the baby because of the pressure change they can’t handle the pressure change and can’t stop the ringing and pain from that. Also they have like no immune system so they’re apt to get sick. Ears being under all this pressure will make them more susceptible to infection and injuries potentially. It’s just best not to travel with babies. But yes people need to grow up and put headphones on it’s just another part of life.

Seriously. It sucks for the baby and everyone else. Bringing babies on planes is just another stupid thing parents do.

@@EllaNutyou literally don’t know peoples circumstances. People are often forced to travel with kids, not every flight taken is for holidays. Use common sense before being so judgmental

@@nammy4058 lol forced to travel? You know planes haven’t always existed right? No one is being forced to travel anywhere. People don’t have to go to weddings or funerals or any of that, they just want to go more than they want to prevent the baby’s ear pain. They care more about their “circumstances” than other people.
