- That was a good Eurovision! Not too many mistakes with the qualifiers and the results were, on the whole, acceptable. The production could have been better but hey, I enjoyed the hosts.
This is my final ranking. I'll probably end up changing it six months down the road once the songs have stood the test of time but for now, yep, this is it!

I was in an airport yesterday when I saw someone who looked familiar. I was like : "lol he looks like duncan"
Then I took a closer look :

We walked past eachother and I was less than 5 meters away from him, LESS THAN 5 METERS!!!
I didn't say anything because
1 : I didn't want to disturbe him
2 : I'm an actual nervous wreck

To be honest, before Eurovision I hated and loved some songs but when they are on stage and I was watching the live show, I appreciated every single performance and acutally thoroughly enjoyed it. That happens to me every year and I just love that feeling of the countries coming together
Seriously, that's a great attitude to have.
It is actually quite rare for me to hate a song AFTER Eurovision. I think it's just a *certain* type of song that grates enough on me to make me hate it (Austria 2016, Denmark 2019....you get the picture). 😂

Interesting, I would say however that I never heard Slovenia’s song before the ESC and I liked it. Also how was Azerbaijan’s song ethnic? I did like Serbia’s entry tho, best staging in 2019
The songwriter (Borislav Milanov) mentioned the ethnic elements previously: "We even added some unique elements of traditional Azerbaijani music… to make the song an authentic fusion of Azerbaijan and the West."
I'm no expert but definitely some of the instrumental and Chingiz's vocal during the break had traditional Azerbaijani roots. I liked them. I think they work well with a modern pop sound, just like they did with "When the music dies", too.

Still strange how they got points with "Nova Deca" than with "Kruna". I mean, obviously Nevena had the better song, right? 😅

Well said. I don't think too many entries went full into stage show in order to distract from the song (maybe only Australia or Moldova come to mind). Generally, I think the songs and singing were pretty good this year!

Wow, that's rather unusual! I do not agree with most of your picks, but it's interesting to get to know opinions which may sound unpopular. My top 5 is: 5. Australia 3. Portugal/Italy 2. Spain 1. Norway. I tend to favour songs in one country's original language, generally speaking (ok, Norway's was mostly in English, but it still featured some Sami bits)
I agree that using their own languages is much better. Case in point, the Russian song this year is MUCH better sang in Russian.

I liked "Home" a lot. Liked it even more before the revamp!
"home" is a beautiful and emotional song and kobi delivered it with such feeling. it made me sad to see how low he placed, even with a voice and song like that.

@@kaleproject3495 Exactly, one of the best vocals in the competition and they give him 0 points? It's clear that the juries do judge on voice as F.Y.R Macedonia won jury vote which was a ok song with amazing voice but for some reason they didn't vote for Israel. Tbh, I'm surprised the televote gave him quite a few points, I was worried he would get very low from that.
To be honest, it was my first Eurovision year and, probably, my favourite year of the decade. I just love about 13 songs this year. And sorry, but I disagree with you about Denmark 🇩🇰 (even voted for them in the final), Germany 🇩🇪, Montenegro, 🇲🇪 (unpopular opinion, I know, but I just love them) and Estonia 🇪🇪. But definitely agree about Italy 🇮🇹, Sweden 🇸🇪, Czech Republic 🇨🇿, North Macedonia 🇲🇰 and Israel 🇮🇱!

I'm going back through my previous Eurovisions to update a few of my rankings and some of the tentative changes I've made have seen me move Netherlands and Italy slightly up.
I think 2019 is a decent year. Definitely not as strong as 2017 but a nice bounce back after the poor year that was 2018.

I've never really understood the hard time that Lithuania get for this entry. It's really solid. The vocal's great and the staging does suit the song.

Even I'm not sure that would be the right place for Italy. It was purely my personal taste with regards his vocal style (which I also appreciate is very deliberate).

Finally, someone that gives Israel their place. This year's song wasnt as good as the last one, but it was still much better than many of the songs this year. One thing I dont agree with is Italy not landing in top 10 here. I mean, this song has everything that a ESC top 10 GF song should have - catchy beat, solid lyrics, some ethnic element, and a solid performance. Performance maybe wasnt 100%, but still

Hey, for me it's always a surprise to see the song from San Marino higher than place 41 (which is in my top list) because the song is neither musical nor vocal good and the song had nothing to do for me in the final. 🤣

I honestly thought this year that I'd be the only person remotely liking Albania and everybody would be telling me that my ranking was too high. To see so many others having it even higher is surprising, especially since I don't consider it one of the better Albanian entries (Oh, I do love me some Albania) or even the best that their NF had to offer. It's a pleasant surprise though.
Don't think many people would try to class "Say Na Na Na" as a masterpiece and I put all the songs that were actually good above it. Still, at least it was enjoyable and fun. Some other songs this year were both not good and also, not fun in the least. 😂

I also like fun songs, (I'm a big fan of "Yodel It!" From the year 2017) but I still care a bit for the vocals, and if the vocals are not good then the fun stops with me. (besides, I do not like the song at all)
But hey as I said everyone has a different taste in music. :) (Belarus is a little bit higher for me though the vocals are not that good, but I like the song quite well)

I'm going to make a video of it sometime soon so I won't give too much away but I'll let you know that Albania is my FOURTH favourite country at Eurovision. My favourite Albanian entry is actually 2005 but there have been A LOT of good songs from Albania. 😊
I really don't know who you are for putting a lot of great songs so far in the leaderboard. How can you say that France, Belarus, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Denmark did not deserved to be in the top 10. Whatever, Netherlands DESERVED a top 3. I not agree your ranking.
Seriously, it is a ranking. I'm not saying I dislike a song but rather, that I like other songs more. You are being disrespectful to the artists behind the songs that I have in my top ten by saying that NO-ONE should prefer their songs to others.

To me, those complaining about Germany's placing are much worse considering just how bad it was in my opinion.
For Germany that comment was ridiculous! And you saying they deserve 0 points is terrible, it’s 2019 and Eurovison.. and the lyrics are based on womens rights. For me that was a really rude comment to their fans and them themselves!
I’m not German I’m actually Australian but artists and duo’s like this in Eurovison I adore. You can really see their friendship and how dedicated they are, it’s just disgusting how people can’t recognized that.
