Persona 5 (PS4) - Passionate Listener Trophy Guide (Tips on making Futaba say specific things)

In order to earn this trophy you need to listen to or hear 250 navigation lines from Futaba Sakura. These lines can range anywhere from hitting enemy weaknesses and resistances, inflicting status ailments, getting inflicted by status ailments, having your weaknesses exploited, ambushing enemies, being ambushed by enemies, running away, and whole host of other lines.
Few important things to keep in mind:
1) I believe that lines don’t carry over to NG+. Now many people say that they do and many argue that they don’t carry over. The best approach is to be careful and make sure you are always working towards lines after Futaba Sakura joins your team as the Navi.
2) When you or your party members level up, do not upgrade their low level elemental spells for higher level ones. Having low level spells are quite useful as you can target enemy weaknesses without killing them, making it easier to grind for weakness exploitation lines from Futaba.
3) When you are grinding for lines that involve status ailments, make sure to use a persona that knows the Stagnant Air move as it increases susceptibility for status ailments for all combatants. Also make sure to make you teammates use a spell that doesn’t do damage, so they do get inflicted with a status ailment. If you leave them to defend, no status ailments can affect them. Make sure to get the Death Arcana link for the Confidant Tae Takemi to Rank 7, so you can buy the Invigorate 3 accessory for all your team members so you can regenerate SP each turn.
In the video i give specific examples of how to trigger multiple different lines from Futaba.
Enemies that are great for grinding status ailment lines:
1) Incubus, Evil Touch (Fear): The Path of Qimranut, The Path of Aiyatsubus
2)Succubus, Marin Karin (Brainwash): The Path of Qimranut, The Path of Aiyatsubus
3) Sandman, Dormina (Sleep): The Path of Kaitul
4) Yaksini, Wage War (Rage): The Path of Chemdah (rarely), The Path of Kaitul
5) Lamia, Ominous Words (Despair): The Path of Kaitul
6) Black Ooze, Famine’s Scream (Hunger): Spaceport Palace, The Path of Akzeriyyuth
7) Kaiwan, Makajam (Forget): Spaceport Palace, The Path of Akzeriyyuth
8) Narcissus, Nocturnal Flash (Dizziness): Cruiser Palace, The Path of Sheriruth
Make sure to constantly switch out your teammates to get lines for all of them equally.
Hopefully I explained it well enough and that it was able to help you guys get the trophy. It’s not as hard as it was in Persona 4 Golden, and most likely you should be able to get it before you get to the final boss.

I got this trophy at December of my 2nd play through on NG+ I just played the game simply scanning for weaknesses etc making futaba speak but after the 7th palace i went into mementos to grind for this trophy. Hope this helps just as described form the video getting different ailments is the way to go
By being afflicted with status ailments/debuffs (132 in total)
Lines for each character having their attack, defence, and agility debuffed (24 lines)
Lines for each character being afflicted with every status ailment (Fear, Hunger, Dizzy, Rage, Brainwash, Forget, Despair, Sleep, Confuse, Rattled, Shocked, Burned, and Frozen) (100 lines) Note: Some party members can't be afflicted with certain ones, for example: Ann can't be Burned, Ryuji can't be Shocked, and Yusuke can't be Frozen. Below are some Personas and items that are useful to get certain ailments and debuffs:
Rage: Yakshini - Bank of Gluttony and Mementos Path of Kaitul
Sleep: Sandman - Pyramid of Wrath and Mementos Path of Akzeriyyuth
Hunger: Black Ooze - Spaceport of Greed Facility Passage and Mementos Path of Adyeshach
Forget: Kaiwan - Spaceport of Greed Transfer Line and Mementos Path of Adyeshach
Despair: Arahabaki - Spaceport of Greed and Mementos Path of Adyeshach
Confusion: Valkyrie - Casino of Jealousy Sloth Machines and Dice Area and Mementos Path of Sheriruth
Fear: Skadi - Casino of Jealousy Dark Maze and Mementos Path of Sheriruth
Shocked: There's a chance to become inflicted with this ailment when using a melee attack against an enemy that's shocked
Burned: There's a chance to become inflicted with this ailment when using a melee attack against an enemy that's burned
Attack Down: Buy Sekkenine A from the drugstore in Central Street
Defence Down: Buy Sekkenine EX from the drugstore in Central Street
Accuracy/Evastion Down: Buy Sekkenine from the drugstore in Central Street. Lilim is also a good enemy to use for this, she's found in Spaceport of Greed Export Line and Mementos Path of Adyeshach.

@ M L - I can’t see your comment but I got the notification, just fight the shadows recommended in this video to get inflicted with rage, sleep etc.
Futaba’s lines are ones to look out for during all battles, I’ve separated how to get certain ones for you as well
The Reaper will easily get you a few lines, especially if you’re weak at the time because I never unlocked the lines where the enemies are difficult for the team, that’s like 5+ more lines
And do not use rush mode at all, maybe 1-3 times to get the couple of lines but always take your time in battles and do not defeat the enemies so quickly, you’d want to focus on keep 3-5 enemies for a long time since they get you lines too, which I hadn’t.
So it has to be 250 unique lines of dialog? Urgh, this is going to be an absolute pain...

I'm on my second playthrough and this is literally the last trophy I need for plat. I'm very surprised I haven't gotten it yet given that I'm almost at the last palace.
Yea, some people say you don't have to try for it, but I disagree. unless you are constantly switching characters in and out, and working towards ailments, this could a be rough trophy
BTW you guys should know that when you put the Japanese DLC voice-over the voice lines stacks, so that mean if you heard the same voice line for english and Japanese it will count as 2

Thanks for making this video man. It really helped me getting this trophy and eventually the platinum. And to those wondering why people are struggling to get this trophy and don't get it naturally....if you play really well and end fights in 1 or 2 turns youll definitely miss this trophy due to the lack of status effects which are the main things i had to grind for.

Dude, just switch your party as you play through the game. Once you have Futaba and Akechi, go to Mementos and pick up fights with enemies that cause status effects, make sure everyone is affected by everything at some point, get everyone to get knocked down and killed at least once (except Joker, lol), and make sure you down/kill 1, 2, 3 and 4 enemies at once with every character (Futaba has different lines for different amounts of enemies downed/killed). Get every line out of Akechi before he leaves your party. Hope it helps.

I was so scared from this trophy but I got it in mementos by luck I was going to grab Water, when I came back the reaper attacked me that’s when futaba said the final line lol am sooo happy

I think this has to be one of THE most annoying trophies to get. I swear some of these enemies are near impossible to find, and it sucks that you can’t just skip your turn when you finally do come across the enemy you need.
I managed to get it during the final battle on my first playthrough. It helps that the unique status ailments in that battle and the boss's various actions give Futaba extra things to say.

I got this trophy with no more than 20-30 minutes of extra effort. Once you have Futaba and Akechi, go to Mementos and pick up fights with enemies that cause status effects, make sure everyone is affected by everything at some point, get everyone to get knocked down and killed at least once (except Joker, lol), and make sure you down/kill 1, 2, 3 and 4 enemies at once with every character (Futaba has different lines for different amounts of enemies downed/killed). Get every line out of Akechi before he leaves your party.
I use all party members almost equally so that could be one reason why it was so easy for me.

Thank you this time around this trophy is easier, when I read the trophy guide and read "listen to 250 navivation lines" I had Rise Vietnam flashbacks, also on a different note I've been following the guides but one thing is not accurate you don't need basilion Yen to purely complete the Persona compendium just don't register Personas so you can buy them back cheap I got shit tons of money and the P compendium done the same way I've been doing since P3 and never had to farm gold but you do need to grind to level 99 and for that Reaper is the belle of the ball.

Ehh, was going for the platinum and this was the last trophy I needed. But now that I realized you basically have to play like a moron to get it, I don't feel like doing it anymore.

When i find an incubus in Mementos, it just spams life drain as opposed to using Evil Touch. Am i just unlucky?
You are extremely unlucky.
I have to second this. If you look at the moves listed as well it only shows him as having Ice Break and Life Drain. I've been trying to run around the floor of Qimrant and Aiyatubus without luck for what feels like a few hours now. Also annoyed that voice lines won't always trigger for effects like Shock, Burn and Freeze and that Stagnant Air doesn't increase those effects.
Whelp, guess i have to go for another playthrough for this trophy since i cant go back to mementos now and i have no idea which lines i have and havent unlocked yet. Kinda bullshit that the Trophy says "Listen to 250 of Futaba's navigation lines", implying that repeated lines also count towards the trophy. Also a counter to keep track of the lines wouldve helped

I thought this was one of those trophy you just get naturally. Didn't realize it was hard for some types of players/playthroughs.
I just got the trophy. The line that popped the trophy was triggered by swapping out a party member and Futaba said that she’d fill in until they switch... no idea what she meant by that but I was switching out Haru for Panther and they switched then before an action could be taken Futaba said she would take over, then Queen jumped out and Ryuji jumped in her place... no idea wtf but it triggered and I will never attempt this trophy ever again.
Made a google sheets thing and typed in every voice line I heard where she says something in the top right corner. I swear that some of these don't even count and have to be the ones in battle.
I’m trying to get this trophy and I’ve typed each one in my notes 🤣 Ffs I’m in Mementos at 12/24 and I’m scared I won’t be able to get it.
I just got the trophy with platinum!
It was on my ng+ and when I was near the end I realize about this archievement.
Some extra tips thwt worked with me.
*WARNING MINOR SPOILERS ALERT*
So I was at 12/24 and that is the day that you have to go through Mementos and then to the last dungeon. While you are in Mementos you *can go to the Clinic and the Airsoft Shop at any time* I recomend buying the weakest weapon and gun, having low defense is irrelevant once you already have the low health line for everyone.
I begin in the first floor with Ryuji and found 2 Silky (Dormina) and a Incubus, aim at the incubus and pess R1, that will trigger a unique line.
Use *Stagnar Air* at thw begining, when you get the unique line from your partner (in my case "Ryuji is sleeping") Heal him and the in Ryuji with Morgana and then repeat the cycle.
I also recomend to have Fast Heal or Insta Heal just in case you get dispair.
Follow the steps of ailments in the video and you may get the achievement in Mementos.
If you not, *WARNING, HEAVY SPOILERS*
Beat the first phase of the Holy Grail, when you get to the final fight with the god let yourself get aflicted wkth the seven sins ailments, I got the trophy thanks to the Pride line.

When I got this trophy in my first play through I thought "great".
But when I started a new game in a different account it was my last trophy and I spend an entire week just so I could get it

I found those shadows in mementos but everytime they use their skills(sleep, despair or ....) all of my character miss them. How can I fix it

I somehow got this trophy on my first playthrough( really my second playthrough but on a different ps account) i literally got it when getting to the holy grail. Now i did have 140 hours in this playthrough alone so i had more time to get all the lines.

Yes, I have mentioned it in the video and the description. Several of my friends have tested it too. 250 unique lines, meaning different ones.

Still need multiple trophies for the Plat including the compendium and Twin Boss fight, but this one is by far the one that worries me the most. It's just so much randomness, idk. Trying your guide in a couple of days, hope it helps...

the japanese dub thing is a bit confusing. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. I for one, did all english and it took forever lol. Download the excel sheet on playstationtrophies.org and keep track yourself

I got this by complete accident on the final boss by, ironically, NOT listening to Futaba and constantly attacking into a counter and having her chew me out for it.

Yeah, I didn't even know about this trophy either. I forgot about the Rise one because I never played Golden and didn't think to check the trophies of P5. I thought the game was making fun of me for not listening to her.

Inflicting an ailment on an enemy never gives you a line right? I've never run into a confusion line while farming money with the confusion trick at least.
Also, would you advise to use lower level personas for NG+ if you try doing this? I can imagine that getting lines for the mc is tough when you're using a Yoshitsune with insane resistances for example.
Yea, you only get lines for getting inflicted by ailments. And yes to lower level personas :P
Does it have to be 250 different lines? Or just her saying any line 250 times? Because you could spam the baton pass decline from her and you can spam it
for me when I did it. I counted 256 unique lines before I got the Trophy, so I would assume it has to be 250 different ones, but others are saying that it's not. I'm not too sure at this point
Yea. I always had the Elgato on. So once I saw a new line or heard one. I would write it down on a piece of paper by going back on the Elgato recording.

No lines do not carry over, so you will have to restart the count.....
If the lines were carried over on the newgame plus i should have them already i have like 4 ng+

Don't give up! There's a chart with the lines. Just make sure to check them as you go

I remember getting this trophy on my very very first play through of Persona 5 during the shido boss fight almost 2 years ago (I was so clueless when I got it too lol). And now, I'm back again trying to "farm" futuba 250+ lines in mementos and the last palaces'
Does anyone know if after you get a line you need in a battle and then run away from that battle, will it still count towards the 250?
It should as long as you don't die. make sure to save often
This is easy compared to Rise. Got 212 lines, and I’m still only on Palace 7. And it’s on safety mode.
I haven't played P4G so I can't say anything about the ones for Rise. This was the only trophy that I struggled with

rubhen925 I know it can. These trophies are some of the easiest ones. The only ones I had trouble with were passionate listener and golden Finger. I got passionate listener in sae's palace after I unlocked all status ailments and crow missed. I jumped out of my chair, slid across the floor, pumped my fist in the air and shouted YES!!! And I got golden Finger by beating powers intuition first. All you have to do is just treat it like I fighter which basically means go really fast. Ima gonna get my game on and destroy those last 3 trophies!!!!!

So apparently it's confirmed that you can switch to Japanese(or English) audio have have all the lines count twice. It's even listed on trophy guides for Persona 5 now. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck even after swapping to Japanese audio, but hopefully I'll get the trophy soon. What bothers me is that 24% of players have the Passionate Listener trophy, while 26% have beaten the game, which is why i think so many people just say "play the game naturally and you'll get it like I did."

So after swapping to Japanese audio, I managed to get the trophy. I would consider that confirmation, but there's also the chance that I never got the line with the English audio.

Avery Caauwe I didn't really play through the game properly everytime I went into mementos I started from the top and went down floor by floor to the bottom. Takes a while but I'm pretty sure thats why I got the trophy easily.
I couldn't get this trophy on my first play through. I had to go out of my way to get it on my 2nd play through. Lots of terrible stat debuffing drinks were consumed. I finally triggered it when Joker got brainwashed and then enraged Haru. This trophy definitely rewards terrible play lol. After finishing this trophy I'm just randomly missing the book worm achievement for my platinum. I guess I overlooked it somehow. Oh well, there's so much content I wouldn't even mind a 3rd play through. I just found out there are dates with your significant other past rank 10 confidants so I'm going to try and watch them all.

any tips for the hostage trophy? I literally haven't even had a hostage situation and I've gone into battles where my allies had 100HP and survived with a weakness/critical but nothing
It's beyond random. I had success in the first palace. i only ever had it happend to me twice. Once on each playthrough same locatin. Right after you get to the tower courtyard area for the first palace, morgana will say that there is heavy security. There are 3 shadows patrolling the area there and have red auras. They are strong. The enemies here are Beriths. Let them ambush you, and eventually they will get a critical on you and take you hostage. It took me around and hour to make it happen again on my second playthrough..It's infuriating!
really? damn i have the smae issue and im on my 3rd playthrough and still had nobody taken hostage.. tbh thats one of the stupidest trophies in this game among this one lol
it is stupid because it's random. There's no set way to make an enemy take you as a hostage. This is purely based on luck.

I need to look for an alternative to the Incubus. Not only are they rare to find, for me at least, but they know Ice Wall rather than Evil Touch.
Yes! For anyone having an issue finding Incubus w/ Evil Touch, you can run into Nekomata in Path of Kaitul, 2nd area. It may take a few hits but terror claw can inflict fear. I may have to give up on the lines for MC and Mona fleeing. Everyone else flee'd fairly easily, but I've spent an hour just with those two and they refuse to flee while under the effects of fear.
Oh, and you can get the dizzy lines outta the way much earlier. The Ippon-Datara in the Path of Chemdah, area 1, have a skill called Sledgehammer, and it can inflict dizzy, while crits seem to guarantee dizzy. It's their only skill actually, so they use it a lot.
*Added* Wow, this was shockingly, pleasantly so, easy. For anyone worrying about this trophy, don't. Just go into Mementos and grind out status ailments and burn/shock/frozen for all 8 party members and you'll get most, possibly all, of the lines ya need while working on the ailments. Got this done with some grinding right after the 5th palace, awesome. Glad I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Do I need to hear the lines until the very end in order for them to count? Sometimes when I'm driving around in Mementos and Futaba's talking I get interrupted (usually by shadows attacking me) and then those conversation lines don't re-appear again. Based on my own calculations I should have heard over 200 lines by now so I need to know if I really am that close to my goal or if I need to grind even more. (I'm on 15/11 and I want to get the trophy before I go up against the Reaper and get over-levelled to the max since too much over-levelling = harder to get affected by status ailments = fewer lines are likely to appear)
So it's been almost a whole year since i touched this game, so my memory is hazy. If her dialogue bubble appears then it should have counted. If you check playstationtrophies.org there is a supplement. You can check which lines you will be missing. Most players get the trophy either at the end of 6th palace, 7th or if shit hits the fan, the end of the game. I had it pop at the very end. Almost gave me a heart attack. i would make a back up save after each palace just in case, so you can retrace

I was legitimately worried about this trophy to the point I started grinding for it for hours when I got crow (and I still never got the trophy, never mind the fact that I was never actually counting ANY of the lines she was saying since I got her so I was completely lost)... and after what felt like an eternity... I just gave up and reloaded the "Real" save.. and was like Imma get it on my 2nd playthru and count for real that time.... Now here I am in the prison passageway of mementos randomly ambushing an enemy... and boom it popped... I was like: YOU MADE ME WASTE AN ENTIRE DAY FOR UR STUPID ASS, AND U JUST POPPED LIKE THAT?!
Needless to say.... My platinum is all but guaranteed now... and I'm frustrated for all the hours I won't get back grinding for it....
