This story is so heart breaking. Chris did two tours in the Navy and he dies at home because some meth-fueled pos lost his mind and picked their home to break into. He not only stole Chris' life he stole his wife and daughter's happiness, peace of mind and sense of security. Disgusting and tragic.

I was very intrigued to click on this video because I’m from Kalamazoo. I immediately knew which case it was though. My mother used to date Haley’s father so I knew the family. I’ve been in the house this happened in, years before it happened. It was a very cute house right on the Kalamazoo River. When my family heard on the news and on Facebook about what happened it was shocking. No one could have expected it at all. Hearing the 911 calls makes it feel so much more real.
Thankfully Haley has been able to heal more and has a very supportive partner now. She has two beautiful kids and has started going to college again. She still posts about Christopher often and says he is “my guardian angel” :)
Hopefully that gives some people comfort after hearing their story.

I'm not a comedian at all and I would never even attempt to be one. My comment wasn't even supposed to be comical but I do understand where you would get that feeling from because that's how most people are online now they're very senseless, and actually quite sadistic when it comes to their emotions. Not that we should be heartless to the homeless, the drug addicted and illegal immigrants, but you cannot protect the law abiding AND have a judicial system that is soft on dangerous repeat offenders. Ok this story absolutely scared me. Probably the most out of all of Truly Criminals stories. I can’t even imagine the trauma his wife and child have to endure.

    I live in Kalamazoo
This is one of the saddest things that’s happened in our city, but unfortunately it keeps getting worse and worse by the day. The shootings, killings, breaks ins, need to stop.

This young man did everything right, protected his family and was calm with the instruder. He was killed for no reason 😱. These cases really hurt💔. I hope his wife and kids will find peace after this💜

I have never had a true crime story gut me as much as this story did. Last week 2 people across the street from my home were shot and killed in a similar manner. This really, really just brought that night back in full force. My heart is broken for Chris, who lost his life, and his wife and daughter. This one hurts.

So tragic. Always have a several hand guns stashed around your house in different places- grab one as soon as you hear anything. That dude should have had few a bullets through him before 911 was even called

I'm so sorry. We must get guns away from people with mental illness and high risk behaviors for starters. đŸ˜Ș I think you should stay away from such videos because you're still in trauma. I hope you're seeing a doctor or seeking help for this. Take care of you.

Dreadfully scary after moving into a new city within a month. Sad ending for a 22 year old Christopher. Haley lost her dad this year, what a blow for such a young girl. she lost two people she loved in a short span of time. Stay Strong Haley !

I don’t often tear up over these videos despite finding all of them tragic, but this one really hit me. I often think it’s so unfair that with what little amazing people we have in the world, they are lost at the hands of monsters like Willian who are then kept alive in prisons. Chis was the true definition of pure bravery and love. May his memory live on in his beautiful children

Ooooh no, now I remember this case. This one stays with me. I lock my house up like Fort Knox and my husband talks smack about it but too bad, you don’t know other peoples intentions. This is one of my biggest fears. This poor family has been through an absolute nightmare. My heart goes out to his family.

We had an intruder once due to a back sliding door being unintentionally left unlocked. We think he was only looking for money because he left after encountering me in my room without any confrontation. You better believe I have never left a door unlocked again. I know a determined person can find a way to break in but I believe if that door had been locked he would have moved on to the next house. Keep locking your house like Fort Knox! No shame in that.

It is a credit to the maker of this video that she makes us feel we are there with Christopher and Hayley but not in any voyeuristic or morbid sense. The tone of the voiceover totally excludes that. We feel but can never truly know the sheer terror of those 40 interminable minutes. They are both heroes.

Your video’s often move me, but none have made me cry in the way this one did.
What a man Christopher was, he ensured his wife and daughter were safe and basically sacrificed himself for them.
The fact that his daughter wanted her dad when she was scared shows just how strong their bond was, how safe he made her feel and how much of a good father he was.
The world is definitely a worse place without Christopher in it.
RIP Christopher, you were taken far too soon.
