I was very intrigued to click on this video because Iâm from Kalamazoo. I immediately knew which case it was though. My mother used to date Haleyâs father so I knew the family. Iâve been in the house this happened in, years before it happened. It was a very cute house right on the Kalamazoo River. When my family heard on the news and on Facebook about what happened it was shocking. No one could have expected it at all. Hearing the 911 calls makes it feel so much more real.
Thankfully Haley has been able to heal more and has a very supportive partner now. She has two beautiful kids and has started going to college again. She still posts about Christopher often and says he is âmy guardian angelâ :)
Hopefully that gives some people comfort after hearing their story.
I will never forget that night. I live just 2 miles away and I have several friends who live on Proctor. This was hard for me to watch...I still pray for Christopher's family.

You knew when this story started that this animal had a long criminal record and this could have been entirely prevented.
Yep. I reckon lawyers should start getting these families in and sueing the parole boards or whoever it is that keeps letting these people out of prison. There are so many deaths that are by men getting out with a full and violent rap sheet and killing people. If they thought they could be sued then they may think twice. Unless there's a drastical overhaul of the entire system, it will never be fixed.
Itâs sad, but true. Working, law abiding, taxpaying citizens are literally being disenfranchised in favor of caring for the lowest dregs of society. Not that we should be heartless to the homeless, the drug addicted and illegal immigrants, but you cannot protect the law abiding AND have a judicial system that is soft on dangerous repeat offenders. Listening to this horrific story & the actual events are truly sobering, oh man! đ€Šââïžđ
I feel horrible for this family. How quickly evil can slide in is crazy. Prayers for the families.
Great job again telling this gut wrenching story. I thank you for another upload my friend.
Knowing there baby is right there through this ordeal is heartbreaking.
God bless đđđ»đđđ
Well narrated series, I've been bingeing on your whole series so far, I wasn't sure if this was an AI voice over for a few days as I've never heard a voice I could listen to for more then a day, I'm really impressed at the content and factual way your series has been produced! Well done and thank you for making a fact packed educational channel, definitely impressive, keep up the brilliant work :)
Thanks for sharing.
Ok this story absolutely scared me. Probably the most out of all of Truly Criminals stories. I canât even imagine the trauma his wife and child have to endure.
He was so incredibly brave and my compliments on the lady on the line trying to talk him down too
I live in Kalamazoo⊠This is one of the saddest things thatâs happened in our city, but unfortunately it keeps getting worse and worse by the day. The shootings, killings, breaks ins, need to stop.
I live in kzoo too. Crazy having this happen so close to home.
This is one of the most heartbreaking videos Iâve ever watched. RIP Christopher. I hope Hayley and Charlotte are living a good life.
This young man did everything right, protected his family and was calm with the instruder. He was killed for no reason đą. These cases really hurtđ. I hope his wife and kids will find peace after thisđ
I have never had a true crime story gut me as much as this story did. Last week 2 people across the street from my home were shot and killed in a similar manner. This really, really just brought that night back in full force. My heart is broken for Chris, who lost his life, and his wife and daughter. This one hurts.
I agree Lisa. This story is sad. I am sorry for your neighbours. Horrid how we treat each other. Just horrid.
So tragic. Always have a several hand guns stashed around your house in different places- grab one as soon as you hear anything. That dude should have had few a bullets through him before 911 was even called
I'm so sorry. We must get guns away from people with mental illness and high risk behaviors for starters. đȘ I think you should stay away from such videos because you're still in trauma. I hope you're seeing a doctor or seeking help for this. Take care of you.
This case has had me in floods of tears. So utterly heartbreaking.
Wow Iâm taken back at the realization of this story! đđŒâ„ïž
Dreadfully scary after moving into a new city within a month. Sad ending for a 22 year old Christopher. Haley lost her dad this year, what a blow for such a young girl. she lost two people she loved in a short span of time. Stay Strong Haley !
oh no thats terrible, youve made me cry even more
Such an absolutely unnecessary loss of life. No matter what, always lock your doors and every single window in your house because you just never know. What a brave young man, and incredible husband đą Rest in peace, Chrisđ€
The one that should have lost his love was the intruder meth head.
I have never cried for a stranger more than I have today.
I donât often tear up over these videos despite finding all of them tragic, but this one really hit me. I often think itâs so unfair that with what little amazing people we have in the world, they are lost at the hands of monsters like Willian who are then kept alive in prisons. Chis was the true definition of pure bravery and love. May his memory live on in his beautiful children
Incredible episode with audio recordings and real police footage.. I felt every moment.
Yep, this one was absolutely intense!
Ooooh no, now I remember this case. This one stays with me. I lock my house up like Fort Knox and my husband talks smack about it but too bad, you donât know other peoples intentions. This is one of my biggest fears. This poor family has been through an absolute nightmare. My heart goes out to his family.
Dogs have such great instincts , I rely on mine to let me know if anyone is outside . I pity the fool that wants to come in here with three dogs and one glock
We had an intruder once due to a back sliding door being unintentionally left unlocked. We think he was only looking for money because he left after encountering me in my room without any confrontation. You better believe I have never left a door unlocked again. I know a determined person can find a way to break in but I believe if that door had been locked he would have moved on to the next house. Keep locking your house like Fort Knox! No shame in that.
Show him this video and tell him that you don't want him to die. That might change his mind.
Always keep your firearms nearby you never know when theyâll be needed
I am from this city- and had never heard of this case. Thank you for this respectful coverage. May Chris Rest In Peace and may his family find peace đđ#kalamazoostrong.
No this man protecting his whole family has lost his life this is an angel
It is a credit to the maker of this video that she makes us feel we are there with Christopher and Hayley but not in any voyeuristic or morbid sense. The tone of the voiceover totally excludes that. We feel but can never truly know the sheer terror of those 40 interminable minutes. They are both heroes.
Your videoâs often move me, but none have made me cry in the way this one did.
What a man Christopher was, he ensured his wife and daughter were safe and basically sacrificed himself for them.
The fact that his daughter wanted her dad when she was scared shows just how strong their bond was, how safe he made her feel and how much of a good father he was.
The world is definitely a worse place without Christopher in it.
RIP Christopher, you were taken far too soon.

So so sorry for the family, my thoughts are with you Kim from England xx
Very scary that you are not completely safe in your own home. My heart breaks for this family and hearing what their little daughter said oh my just gut wrenching.
