Authorities respond to a call from an apartment complex. A resident had found someone lying on the ground, tucked under the stairs to the back of the building. They wondered if they might be sleeping rough and taking shelter, but as they got closer, they saw a pool of blood, and it was now obvious that this was a homicide.

How can they even think not criminally responsible when they had video of her buying a hammer. It was premeditated. The jury got it wrong.
💖👍
Exactly it literally makes no sense at all like wtf 🫣 all they did was made this case look like it’s not a big deal to brutally kill somebody for NO reason at all
And she was caught about to buy another set of tools, - likely for the same thing. It feels too much to me like having a "kill kit".
It’s because she was a woman and he was a homeless man who had a history with the police. By their twisted logic of prejudice therefor he’s the bastard and she’s a traumatized victim. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sick.
@@EssenceofCoilsthat second video is freaking terrifying. She was absolutely buying a new hammer to kill again. Makes me ill tbh
How can the jury sleep at night? What a horrific miscarriage of justice !
Society's innate instinct to protect women over men.
Canada ehy !
This woman got away with murder. Everyone is so quick to blame mental illness on someone's actions. I feel so sorry for the victims' family.
She did us a favor, took out an adult alcoholic man child big deal.
@@bicgohill8756 So edgy wow. If you honestly believe your words then we need someone to do us a favour and take you out.
It's even worse when people are quick to dismiss mental health as if it doesn't matter. There is clearly something deeply wrong with this woman's mind. And one doesn't even need to be an expert to see that.
@@jared5200I agree, she was definitely insane & I feel she knew what she was doing because she bought the "kill kut." Unbelievably sad and maddening.

I'm really struggling with this outcome.. she was filmed buying the weapons to murder Marcel then later whilst under surveillance she was caught doing exactly the same thing again, likely for another victim. How can this be not criminally responsible? This was premeditated, just my opinion.
We have another one in Toronto, Canada. Was caught on camera buying a knife, then stabbing innocent lady killing her. She was found NCR as well and already out, roaming the streets!
The man who beheaded and butchered young man on Greyhound bus, was found NCR is already out too!
They even recently moved Bernardo to a minimum security prison! 🤦🏼♀️🤯🤦🏼♀️
The only “criminal insanity” in this case is the of the “justice” system. They aren’t fit to judge anyone.
Agree she knew what she was doing…can’t even think what the jury was thinking!!
Due to her serious neurological condition, the concept of “premeditation” is irrelevant.
She is pretty white girl
Canada has a horrid record with psychiatric review boards and politicians in charge of Corrections. Leaving it up to "professionals" has shown us time and again that the public is put at risk. What a shame...
Her dad is a big shot she was nice to me and she told me he was a rapist and she was raped her self I went out with her and she told me that. I will say nothing bad about her. She is a fighter to.. I love Anna
Why they let these people out os beyond me. They do not adjust do not take their mrdication etc, and just one glance at these violent people can set them off
So they let them loose to rape and kill. Abhorrent
As does the USA. It is as if they refuse to acknowledge the disease of the mind.

I cant stop shaking my head, ive have always thought Canada's justice system is a joke, especially their sentencing laws but this..... this has taken it to a whole new level.
Im not sure if anyone else found this disrespectful and rude but i sure as hell did, Anne's father and mother congratulating, shaking hands and hugging the defence team's lawyers and the way her father was carrying on, you would have thought that Anne was the victim or a wrongly accused truly innocent person thr way they behaved, how tone deaf and just disgusting, what about Marcel and Marcel's family, why is his life so worthless and his murder so unimportant????
Geez its been a while since ive truly felt sick to my stomach and angry like this, its just so wrong.
She SHOULD NEVER EVER be a free women for what she's done. FFS
R.I.P Marcel, you deserved so much better than this ❤️🕊😔
Well, it’s Canada, the country that believes criminals are victims and victims are criminals. This comes as no surprise.
Insane my ass.... insane is person who cant tell right from wrong.... her planning and disposing evidence shows that her brain works as any normal person
I’ve watched enough true crime shows to realize a lot of them get it from their PARENTS . it’s disgusting all around but maybe someone in the mental institution will murder their daughter & get away with it bcus of their “‘mental illness” & see how they feel. Mental illness has been everyone’s go-to lately, it’s embarrassing now
canada has upset me more times than any where in the world... karla homolka is the perfect example... she was in a cottage style prison that looked like a hotel resort.. wear regular clothes, gardening, fashion shows, photo shoots..then released to where she is married and has kids... i could go on and on.. and a case on forensic files a woman "fell" down the basement stairs.. and it crushed her head on both sides like a vice..yet she was found holding her keys in her hand which she had when she went up...not possible.. anyone who falls from a height, and has brain injuries drop objects instantly..the body will try to break the fall its a reflex and defense thing... canada is like in the dark ages of investigations
@@dej4644 You notice that too ?
Its a sudden epidemic!
Sounds rude. But I agree with you. A type of karma.
Ridiculous verdict. If somebody knows to cover up their crime, then they know what they did was wrong, and that makes them competent/aware and responsible.
Very true.
I'm not saying she is unwell or not but I feel people have a simplified view of mental illness. People can still be intelligent with mental illness but not have capacity it depends on the reason why someone covers up the crime. They can pre plan murder and cover up but believe entirely they did it as part of a conspiracy or due to delusional reasons. Not saying this is the case here but it can happen
@@sparky21737 I disagree. If somebody knows/understands enough to cover up a crime, then they know it's wrong. It really is as simple as that; no reason to over-complicate it.
@@jeanniemarkech351 I 'm not saying this happened in this case but a person's delusional content could lead them to cover up the crime. They might be trying to hide things from aliens/conspiracies/might believe horrific things will happen to them/might be trying to hide from people who are after them. Just because a person appears to be acting calmly and rationally doesn't mean they aren't unwell. I also think the mental health defence is overused and exploited and people get off when they shouldn't. I'm just saying mental illness is tricky to navigate and is more complicated then people think. Again not saying this is thr case for this crime
She lured him to her apartment, she killed him while he was outside, she hid the body and got rid of the evidence. She clearly knew what was she was intending. This is truly heartbreaking.
Great comment.
Having intentions and being insane can coincide. She was clearly mad, and as part of her madness she had a bizarre compulsion to buy hammers with the thought that she needed to kill someone.
Also, she didn’t really hide the body did she? She hit him while he sat on the steps, and then just pushed him off the steps.
She was literally buying a new tool to murder her next victim when they arrested her. She will kill again as soon as she is released, and when she does, I hope the jury members that acquitted her understand how badly they screwed up. And that the high courts understand how moronic their rejection of the prosecutorial appeal was. This woman is extremely dangerous.
This was an unbelievable miscarriage of justice. She appeared entirely lucid in the footage of her buying tools and items for the first murder kit, planned the murder, deliberately chose to attack Marcel knowing he was seriously intoxicated and would be unable to fight back not the other people she was with that night who would have overpowered her quickly, approached him from behind while he was half passed out, moved his body and tried to cover up where he was attacked, changed her bloody clothes, disposed of two bags of evidence one of which she stated they needed to watch sink in the water to make sure it was gone, rejoined friends and pretended like nothing happened and continued the night as normal. She was very much responsible for her actions and had the mental capacity to grasp what she was doing, and that it was wrong.
Canadian courts are ludicrous, they have a bunch of clowns serving jury duty and as sitting judges up there.
That's exactly what I was thinking, she was preparing for her next victim
I just commented the same thing before I saw this... she will do it again.
I wonder if the jury was informed about the circumstances in which she was arrested, it's incredible how many details are hidden from the jury in some of these cases (from criminal history, to details related to the crime itself, statements of certain witnesses), it's easy for us when we look back and have all the information, which cannot be said about juries (I'm curious how many end up regretting their verdict when they read these details later in the press)...
I hope to hear of murders committed in the families of such jurors and judges!!!
I couldn't agree more!! She knew exactly wtf she was doing!! She's a sociopath it seems!! I do believe if they let her out, she will kill again!
That second video of her buying a new hammer is honestly scary as hell. She was definitely about to kill again. Freaking horrifying
I agree, I went cold inside watching her with those hammers. Shocking
She got away with murder.

Even in a bad mental state or a psychotic break, bludgeoning someone with a hammer is cruel.
Yeah, I am a very kind person and like, animals, people in a rough spot, they often are able to spot me, and know I'm someone safe.
I lived with my uncle for a bit as a young man and, he was an alcoholic, a big partier, he'd smoke crack when his monthly check came in. I'd join in, because he offered and, to my thinking back then, why not?
"Cocaine psychosis" is freakishly common among crack smokers, it manifests different ways, I believe something like 20% of all people will experience it, typically every single time they smoke.
I had girls and women who were smoking crack pull me into back rooms and bathrooms and stuff and start sharing with me that they're scared of someone who is there... Also, assert that such and such car has circled the block five times, despite being in an apartment with the blinds drawn and curtains closed and no way to sit outside, lol.
I'd always calmly explain to them that they're feeling the effects of cocaine psychosis and that they're safe and fine, try and calm them.
But yeah, this perception that an attack is imminent, that they can discern someone's motives and they're planning to hurt them is fairly common for women. Though, I've never seen anyone ACT on that violently or anything. Maybe they'd leave a location or whatever, but this kind of reaction truly is rare
you don’t understand what those words mean then. It’s an altered state of mind where logic and reasoning don’t always matter. For some people, normal humans can appear to be demons and beasts out to kill them. So in that case, it would be less unreasonable to attack with a hammer.
Please learn what things mean before making statements that mislead others
You don't know what you would do if you became psychotic.. yes, it is cruel.
Not if you're psycho
Murder is cruel😢
It hits me hard to see one of our good old boys meet such an end. I’ve met many guys like Marcel and generally they’re good-hearted, down-to-earth guys dealing with a lack of opportunity coinciding with addiction issues. They may be down on their luck but they’re still good people. It breaks my heart to see Marcel’s life end like that. And I feel just terrible for his family. Newfoundlanders are on the whole the kindest, most generous and most loving people I’ve ever known and it pains me to see the Reardons go through this loss, with such an unfair outcome on every level. RIP Marcel and wishing peace for his family.
Canada has a disgraceful history of giving low to non-sentences to their criminals - particularly the criminals who commit such horrific, gory murders. Reminds me of when murder Vincent Li decapitated and cannibalized a 22 year man on a bus in Canada several years ago - a horrifically gruesome murder. The court found him not responsible and the murderer renamed himself Will Baker - he is out free as a bird in Canada. I wouldn't want him as a neighbor or this lady.
Didn't know he was out and free 🫤 that's terrifying

@@Flicky800 agreed!
My heart breaks for Marcel Reardon and his family. This tragic case serves as a painful reminder of the devastating impact addiction and mental health struggles can have on someone's life. Marcel's journey was filled with pain and turmoil, and the brutality of his death is utterly heart-wrenching. The fact that his killer, Ann Norris, was found not criminally responsible due to mental health issues leaves me with mixed emotions. It highlights the urgent need for better support and resources for those battling addiction and mental health challenges. May Marcel's soul find peace, and may his story inspire greater compassion and understanding towards those in need.
So true and I thank you for your comment!
I don’t think her mental issues have anything to do with why she killed him. She may be mentally ill, but that’s not where her sadistic nature comes from. She’s a truly sick person, but it’s not because of her bipolar diagnosis. She knew exactly what she was doing and purposely chose him to kill, knowing he would be wasted and wouldn’t fight her back like the other guy she was with that night or Jessica would have.
@@Tsumami__ I appreciate your perspective on this tragic case. It's essential to recognize that mental health is a complex issue, and it's not always straightforward to determine the exact factors contributing to someone's actions. While we may have different views, I believe that it's crucial to consider the impact of mental health struggles and addiction on both the victim and the perpetrator.
It's possible that Ann Norris's actions were influenced by multiple factors, including her mental health condition. Mental illness can affect people in different ways and may sometimes lead to unpredictable and harmful behavior. However, it's essential not to generalize or stigmatize individuals with mental health issues based on the actions of a few.
Regardless of the specific reasons behind the tragedy, I hope we can agree that this case underscores the urgent need for improved support and resources for those facing mental health challenges and addiction. By increasing compassion and understanding, we can strive to prevent such devastating incidents in the future and offer help to those who need it.
@@Tsumami__I know her well I was great friends and she told me he was a rapist. She was sexually assaulted at 12. He tried to rape her and she told me that she did it for that reason. Judges crown are buds with her father. She told me that
Mental illness is real. I have experienced living with my dad who had that illness for the greater part of his life until he passed away.😢
I wonder what criteria the psychiatric institution used to let her out to the public? Because just within a short time only she killed an innocent person. Sad for Marcel’s family!
I was wondering the same. Not only did the justice system fail Marcel but the mental health system did as well by letting this woman out of the psych facility.
I gasped, when you said she was not criminally responsible. With all the evidence you just showed us, that was so hard to believe. She even went to Walmart to buy another hammer. She knew what she did was wrong, she hide the evidence. It was malicious intent for sure.
The only reason why the trial turned out the way it did is because she's a young attractive woman and the victim is an older man with alcohool and financial issues. The jury litterally told the world that his life was less important than his killer's. Unbelievable...
It’s amazing how judges have less idea than the average person what is or isn’t relevant to a case. She sounds like a pathological liar and a psychopath. She’s lucky she’s a blonde woman cause it’s the only reason she got off. That and living in Canada. Honestly if insanity pleas where abolished as a legal defence it would reduce human suffering overall by not rubbing salt in the wounds of victims families.
Agreed. I am severely mentally ill with bipolar disorder among other things (C-PTSD because of sexual assault as a child like her).
If I commit a crime because of this, I WANT to be punished appropriately. If I should take a life, I forfeit mine.
My responsibility is to take care of my health, keep from substance abuse etc. as to never become a danger to anyone.
She got off because of her father’s connections I think.
She should never have been let out again.
Just remember there was a similar outcome when an Asian man got away with murdering, beheading and partially eating a person on a public bus in full view of dozens of witnesses. Canada is the main problem, not the color of her hair.
unjustice has served.

I thought not criminally responsible meant you didn't know what you were doing was wrong and she obviously did know as she tried to hide evidence and lied to the police. As I said I'm totally confused. I hope she gets help but I also think that releasing her would be incredibly dangerous, I hope they keep her and the general public safe by not releasing her, just my opinion.
There is a reason why it is hard when mental illness is involved. I work in mental health, I looked after someone who was intelligent etc. He started to get unwell and got admitted due to delusions and homicidal ideation. He had planned a murder out, started preparing knew how he was going to cover it up. His delusions involved conspiracies that the police would torture him, horrific punishments if he didn't follow through with the murder etc. The scary part was he was able to rationalise it, was able to calmly purchase the things he needed but he was completely psychotic. He got better and was horrified by it all
Big fan of your channel and love to see you covering cases from my home province of Newfoundland, Canada.
Thank you for covering cases all around!! Keep up the great work ❤
Nowadays it would be called "Land 2.0".
It’s strange how they had money to go bar hopping clubbing taxis and late night shopping in Walmart but they haven’t got money to eat and using soup kitchens ect.
Let's be real, there was automatically very clear bias in this case with the murderer looking like a girl next door babysitter and the victim being a large drunken man. I would challenge every one on the jury and the judges as to whether they would be comfortable with Ann living in their neighborhood. If the answer is no, then WTF should she be allowed to eventually be out freely in society?! I'm not that surprised with this being Canada given I watched a previous Canadian case where a man brutally beat and ate a man on a bus and was ruled not criminally responsible, put in a mental institute, released and given a new identity. Yeah...
My first thought - she couldn't possibly have dragged a body by herself, especially with Marcel's build. That was weird. People usually underestimate how heavy a corpse is compared to a live person. They need to look into that more.

I was once reliant on the soup kitchen to eat too and, damn, that's one tough row to hoe.
The very best you could hope for was then they had beenie weenies, you know, baked beans with hot dogs cut into pieces and dropped in there. It tastes alright, it's heavy, and it's loaded with carbs, fat, protein, fiber, sugar, salt... Just all you need, and some stuff that you just want, even if you don't NEED it.
The absolute worst was those days when the soup kitchen was just giving out straight-up soup. God, that was bad.
I remember days I had walked the two miles to get there and seen there's nothin but soup being ladelled out of one big pot into cup-sized styrofoam bowls.
Soup, crackers, then coffee or bug juice to drink... God, that's the last think you wanna see when you just walked a couple miles in hopes of a filling meal. It's enough to bring a tear to the eye.
If I were a volunteer there, I assume these rare soup-only meals happen when volunteers just don't show and it's like, two people are there and they just don't have time to do more.
They should hang on to the little odds and end they sometimes get, bag em up and save those for such occasions, because God it is just bad to be hungry and get handed a cup of chowder and a packet of crackers, lol
Hi, I can truly understand your situation, I hope things are better now 💚
Your videos are fantastic. You put so much research into the cases you present and you pay great attention to details in these cases. I absolutely love your channel, it's the very best true crime channel on CZcams and the internet. Thank you so much for your channel. It's the only channel of its kind that I watch. Fabulous job.
If it was the other way around (him killing her the same way) he would instantly go to jail. This is so fucked up
Crazy should never be an excuse for murder.
The fact she went so far out of her way to conceal her crime proves without a shadow of a doubt she was in control of her facilities. This jury failed miserably & yes, the entire Canadian justice system failed this family. DESPICABLE!
I havent watched the upload yet just starting but i just wanted to say ive been watching true crime content for a while now and this is one of the first channels i subscribed too and i look forward to each and every week, the intro music is like the comfort of a warm blanket and the girl's voices are like a friend whom i havent spoken to in a while and am super excited to hear from, never change a thing ladies you do it perfectly and thank you, you are both so very much appreciated ❤️ ♥️
This poor family 😢
What is wrong with these people
Truly Criminal, thank you again for your production values. RIP Marcel. Prayers for his family. Everyone stay safe - and I'm never going to Newfoundland.
Your presentations are excellent. Thank you for all your hard work on bringing us the facts.
I'm actually concerned with the kind of jurors they appoint in serious cases, i feel they are not mentally prepared for making safe decisions regarding the public with criminals. The laws believe it or not are setup to go against good people, research the system deeply enough and the normal person's will see just how evil and corrupt governmental man made laws are. Man made laws to suit themselves not the good living people, keeping the public in fear keeps people vulnerable and easier to control. Rip
Move to the USA if you want to see a freak show! I mean, just one look at our current President would scare the H out of anyone not to mention the war going on between the 2 political parties. I've come to the conclusion that the whole world has gone mad!
Thank you so very much for checking the volume. It's at a perfect level. Thanks again. Dan from Nebraska 🇺🇸
Between the evidence the judge thought was not relevant to the case and the jury being obviously swayed by her ‘innocent look’ this is obnoxiously wrong and a great injustice.
And her father having a big in with the Justice System almost being promised they would get her off easily.
@@Sanne_Mathiasen What does her father have to do with anything when it was the jurors who actually rendered her verdict?
@@loveforeignaccents Who the lawyers are, is very very important.
And her father made sure she had a former Justice Minister, as a lawyer.
Do you think Marcel’s family had those kind of resources?
It is the lawyers that make the arguments that the jury bases their judgment on.
Also what evidence should or should not be allowed which the judge bases his/hers judgment on.
The best lawyer often wins, despite their client being guilty/innocent or not.
If Marcel had had the better lawyer, I am convinced we had seen a different outcome.
@@Sanne_Mathiasen I'm questioning if you're just speculating on everything here because you really aren't making much sense. Marcel's family wouldn't need "resources" as it was the prosecution who had to present/put on the case. Also, juries base their verdict based on the evidence presented, of which the lawyers' arguments are not evidence. And if the lead prosecutor wasn't a competent or effective attorney, I don't think he or she would be appointed to trying cases.
Thank you for covering this, I think it's a very interesting case and you're right about the verdict being uncommon due to its being an incredibly difficult thing to prove. (and therefore rarely overturned).
Maybe you could do a series on the back-stories of unusual and/or unexpected verdicts?
This things screams "premeditated!!!" Not unlike the Shabusiness girl in Wisconsin.
Well it wasn't that similar: she was mucking about with his knob apparently.
I guess the one who thinks that she's not criminally responsible is because they thought that anne wants to explore new career as a carpenter. That explains her act of buying multiple hammers. I seriously thought she's going to be a serial killer if she didn't got caught that day
A miscarriage of justice 💯 Obviously premeditated given that she bought the murder tools beforehand not, once but twice! Marcel sounded like a decent guy despite his demons. RIP sweet soul!
Thanks once again for such a well researched and informative video. People will always question the verdict. Sharon G., 🇨🇦
What a weird handling of this case, it's just odd...
But it was premeditated!
Not criminally responsible, wow. Unbelievable and 🇨🇦 has very lose sentencing laws. RIP Marcel
It’s not often a true crime channel covers a case from my home city. Poor Marcel did not get justice, another victim of Canada’s poor mental health support and lenient justice system.
Perhaps she was found NCR because…
“Her father, Gary Norris, was also clerk of the executive council and secretary to cabinet before retiring in 2010 with thanks from former premier Danny Williams. “
“Former provincial justice minister Jerome Kennedy has appeared for Norris, saying he wants to ensure her constitutional rights are protected.”

Rip Marcel 💔
She was found NCR by the jury though.
So, when she recommits the heinous act, which is very likely as she was arrested purchasing another hammer, will it just be another smack on the wrists?
She didn't receive a "smack on the wrist". She received no punishment. She's currently in a mental hospital.
Seems like it, especially in Canada.
Mental health care is extremely important, and it's my field of work, so I would never doubt anyone's struggle. However, I have no idea where to stand on that woman's case. I mean, she was obviously in an awful psychological whirlpool, and I guess she suffered from her disorders. But I can't say someone with a mental health issue cannot be cruel, mean, and evil.
I don't know... 🤔
Plus: she is obviously highly dangerous to society.
Of course they can be cruel, mean and evil, just like people who don't suffer from mental illness..
“Mental health” has become a throwaway catchall to justify every petty sociopaths sick atrocities. It would be better for humanity if we just imprisoned everyone who causes another persons death regardless of their excuses. Yes, there would be cases where it’s unfair but things have gone way to far the other way. This woman isn’t any kind of victim except of her own hideous nature. It’s also disgusting how little Marcel’s life was worth to the legal system.
@@DinoCism 💯
@@DinoCism recommend you do some research to learn about the impact of neurological conditions and how they alter a person’s behaviour.
ann needs locking up for LIFE, RIP Marcel❤
These jurors are gonna take responsibility for the next person she bludgeon to death.
There are some situations in life that are just pure tragedy. Nobody wins here. Mental illness can be extremely powerful.
kudos on all of that in court footage you got your hands on! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much of the inside of a Canadian courtroom in my entire life!
Why was she buying another hammer?
My question is, who exactly does her family know for her to get off like that?
I'm from St. John's. It has a population of only a little over 100k, but it feels like far less because of how often you run into someone you know. Thus, the answer to your question is, everyone.
Absolutely stunned at the verdict. Unbelievable.
Well always one things astonishes me..
In western society a sibling a close family member is struggling to eat and survive and no one offer them help.
It's TRUE.
Parents living in homes while kids being homeless.
While on India, if anyone struggles family pulls them together.
You would have food, shelter and support.
It always catches me off gamurd.
What kind of family system is that?
This is not family.
This is you are on your own.
Sad but true!
