Tell me what you think about the powder coating job! Also this is the link to the new shirts in stock truckmasterdiesel.com
Great content brotha love it keep up the amazing work...
Powder coating looks good man. Iâm sure youâll get better and better with it as you do more. So the 64mm is going on the LMM, now you have my attention!
@@Blackjack_focus_st thanks Chris!
@@lbeliel4128 yes đ
Youâre killin it dude, I agree with the wife youâre building this truck up but itâs to WORK. Raptor line that bitch and show us how beneficial it is to have that instead of regular paint.
I just bought one the other day, I love it, works great, Iâm only 14 so I didnât want to pay someone else so I invested in one, a few tips, that knob on the gun is not a regulator, itâs a on/off switch so I would definitely get a regulator and run 15-25 psi, also get a water separator filter because your powder will have a lot better results. Most powders will say but for harbor freight powders it works best to run 450° for 15 to 20 minutes, also preheating your part helps powder stick. In my own experience the best powders are from prismatic powders. Keep up the good work, love your videos.
Thanks! Very helpful đ
That is one 14yr old who's got some motivation and know-how! Keep it up kid! And Truck Master, as always I love the vids appreciate it man
If you don't mind me asking how much was it
@@brodysmith5976 truck master said he paid $100
@@brodysmith5976 I believe it was 85 with tax, I also bought a HarborFreight regular are water filter with a can of both black and white for 107, the oven I bought for $30 on Facebook market place. If I start making a little money off this I will build a big oven with a few heating elements, that way I can do step bars, bed caps etc.
I appreciate the videos, never can learn enough,so thanks for all the great content, and I appreciate your service and sacrifice (sacrifices) you made for us and yourself as a country keep up the great work brother
Thanks Jason
Great video, Earl! You did make it look simple to powder coat, with good results. Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial, and sticking with the motto âlearning togetherâ. That compressor cover turned out great for the turbski! I was always wondering about that harbor freight kit for small projects and adding cool detail to parts. Beats the heck out of the old rattle can red you did on the LBZ stock cover back in the day. Really super excited to hear you might hook Wifemax up to a pulling sled! It will be the ultimate test of the truck in every aspect! I have a feeling you will be hooked (pardon the pun) after trying it, especially if you have the professor and Ryan close by coaching. Keep working hard brother! Blessings to you and the family! đđ»đșđž
Great video! Hey you could make yourself a temporary paint booth by building a wooden frame and using rope to lift it up to the ceiling. You want two wooden frames one for up high and one on the floor. Staple plastic sheeting to the wood frames make sure you put plastic on the floor also tape it down. Itâs always about the prep! Great content! Oh yeah Harbor Freight rocks love to shop there!
Thatâs a great idea
Good to see the Cummins making progress. That powder coating turned out good - nice job for your first and second try.
Thanks Roy
Stove in the shop is a good tool to have. Separating headlights to do leds and clean moisture from the lense, and also for pressing parts like bearings and spacers on. Need an exhaust duct for your powder coat box but look awesome.
MrsTruckMaster is Spot On!! Raptor line the Dumpster Cummins in a gloss color!! Way better protection for what you are planning on doing with it. Got my shirts ordered and thanks for the discount code too!!
Good exercise on the powder coating. I definitely want to get a powder coating gun now.
Looks good. You can recoat when its semi hot, also buy thermal tape on amazon, it can go right in the oven, and its great to cover parts you dont want powder on. Aside from that just order from prismatic and your good. Told you its fun and easy.
Thanks Phil
Destroyer grey would look awesome on that Cummins
Thanks for the suggestion
"Earl and Joy's Powder Coating Service " đ€Ł looks cool man! đ
Can't wait to see how that LMM turns out. I have a 2010 long bed.
Just a little advice from my experience, if you have decent weather paint the truck outside no matter how much you try and keep stuff clean youâll get overspray, all you really need is a day of good weather.
I was just thinking this
Being outside at the wrong time of day painting can ruin your paint job. Bugs are a bastard
Really liking your videos by the way!
Thanks David!
Seems like a fairly easy process- nice job!
Raptor liner all the way on the 2nd gen! I did my hood and cab top looks awesome!!
Looks good especially for your first time! I'd love to see the Wifemax in front of a sled too!
Awesome video ! Good job man đđ»
Raptor line in Gray with Red as the 'accent' color!
Hereâs some suggestions I found useful when I did this
-in your little powder coating booth type thing get just a cheap little usb light strip and stick it to the top of the box so you can brighten it up in there
-get that clear material painters lay down on the carpet and drape it over the opening of the box and just slide your arms in there, that way it keeps the power all in there
-when in the oven put the rack on the highest place it can go and hang whatever youâre baking the paint onto.
Obviously Iâm no professional but itâs just what I found worked for me !
I have had a harbor freight powder coating system for a long time. I set my air pressure at 15 psi static so the powder just flows slowly and evenly. The ground lead can be attached to the hanging rack or wire, but must be used or the powder wonât stick.
I pre-heat my oven to 400 degrees (go with the powder manufacturers recommendations) then gently place the coated piece(s) in the oven. Once the powder flows out (melts and turns glossy) I bake it for an additional 30 minutes before shutting the oven off. I let it sit for about 30 minutes before I open the oven door and let it cool to room temperature on itâs own. If it cools to fast it can cause the gloss to haze over...
Just a note to save you a bit of a headache: the powder coating is very durable, but the more powder added the more tolerances will cause issues for close tolerance areas...
Customizing things is fun; enjoy the adventure đ
I use my natural gas weber bbq and do the same I don't live in snow though
Hey, whatever works. Function over form. Battleship grey would look good on it. The raptor liner would help it through Michigan winters.
On any metals softer than steel, outgassing for an hour at 450-500 degrees, then blast the part while still hot (but make sure you can handle it. Then put plenty of powder on it and you should be good to go. Prep work and the right amount of powder, curing temp and time are key. Nice video and I'm enjoying your channel!
my favorite, most comfortable mask . i use the same one.
Leadfoot gray would look sweet on the truck as well. Raptor lining the whole truck would cool as well.
One thing I just thought of, is raptor line the inside of the bed so everything is painted and sealed as it should be. Then add a plastic bed liner to it so what ever you are hauling in the bed when you dump it all the material slides out with no problems.
I know that the bed liner type of products make it hard to move things around in the bed rather than regular paint. Just something I thought of that might make your life easier.
I enjoy these videos brother keep it up
You can buy a nice inflatable paint booth, thatâll fit under the overhang on the side of your garage or inside it for a couple hundred bucks. My friend has one and itâs awesome, he loves it. đ€đ»đ€đ»
Pretty cool with the powder coating. For the colors for the Dodge, I say battleship gray or something in the gray family would look very nice with the red frame.
Wheels and tires for the Dodge, since it's a older truck set it up like Hammer's rig with the larger tires and smaller black steel rims on it or keep it factory sized rims with some heavy duty tires on it to handle the weight better while driving with a full load.
Factory sized wheels and tires would make it easier to get in and out of the truck better since you will be using this for work. Enjoyed the video, look forward to seeing the next one. Take care.
On your up shifting itâs the detention cable that goes to the pedal linkage on the motor Iâm not good on explaining how to do it but it changes your shift points..it will make it shift early or higher in the rpm
Thanks Iâm probably going to mess with it later
For your first time that looks great! I like the battleship gray idea if you are going to raptor line the Cummins. I think it would look badass!đ€đŒ
You did a great job on the turbo
Thanks James
I was excited to see how easy the powder coat was to do... would be really cool to use on a the little details when u r building.... BTW, my duramax is linxed, and we love it, went with kia steel gray for the color, even a diy kit would turn out nice. Durabak is a good product. We used it on an Avalanche we did about 10 years ago... anyway, good luck with the build
i never thought to use a kitchen oven for powder coating thats pretty cool and if you really want red go for it its what you like lol i would go with the olve green metallic like the new rams use accented with a dark grey
Great video Josh
Not against using the raptor liner, but I personally would recommend Liner Xtreme. Friend of mine used it on his truck and I just did from the top bodyline down on my 2nd gen with it and very pleased. Ordered clear and got the tint (with no binder) paint matched to mix in at a auto paint shop. It is supposed to be tougher since it is a 3 part liner not a 2 part like the others. Currently waiting the 5 days it takes to cure but so far looks good and does have a bit of a glossy look to it. A 3gallon kit with the big applicator gun was around $250
Just an idea for the truck master garage.... How to on that body work.. pushing dents out or popping punches out... That would be a great short video.
A good tip for if you're gonna bedliner the truck buy a tent like the in you park under and spray it under one of those. It'll help contain the over spray becuz that stuff goes everywhere. As for your powder costing looked good nice and clean. I've done bedlining before and if you don't want it somewhere mask it off really well and Def pay attention to the instructions don't mix longer than directions say, and always shoot a test panel then u know what your results will look like when you do your actual item.
Id love to see the cummins raptor lined, cus thats what im considering doing to mine
I have the same powder coat setup, I powder coated a green HSP cold pipe to white with prismatic powders. Had to burn the original powder coat off with MAP gas. Aluminum oxide blaster at work only dulled the color, but after I burnt it, the sand blast cleaned it right off. My Danville 68 has the cover glued on to prevent leaks, I'm thinking about sticking the whole turbo in the oven. Gonna call Danville and see if it's okay to do that.
DangâŠ. Here I was watching for the trucks and on your b-roll footage you go showing off this sweet tractor. Seriously? You are living right!
Do superliner best one. Most solids. They have distributor in Austin Texas. They did the pigman Brian Quacas truck. Amazing. They sell to people to apply themselves.
Get the Eastwood system, I have been using it for years and have had great results, they also have a big array of colors
I will check it out
Great job on the video
Thanks!
Tan raptor liner in the truck would look mean but since u have a red frame charcoal gray or cement gray would look really good as well
Hello Josh and Melanie. Good luck in your powder coating.
Thanks!
I would go with just regular paint for the truck in a gray. Also Prismatic Powders has a ton of colors and ive heard its pretty quality stuff for powder coating
Thanks
keep the great work
Thanks!
I lived in Illinois and southern Missouri and have always heard buy Texas or Arizona trucks because no rust! I now have lived in Brownsville,Texas area since may 2021 and Texas trucks have a lot of rust along the gulf! My next truck will be from Arizona, or another state without salt! ! đ
Great video and thank be safe
Thanks
if you line x they can tint the bedliner any color they tint it with the Dupont Nason paintline
Shout out to Ryan Mayer. Super cool dude and hard worker.
Prismatic powders is where I get the powder I use great company and so many colors. I believe their parent company is also the company that owns cerakote
Very good quality from them
Gun metal grey is nice toođ
when you do your powder coating take and place yours in your oven and preheat the parts and the powder will stick to the surface of your parts a little better.
Funny u say that.I'm spraying battle ship gray on my 2nd gen tomorrow
You can get a tintable bedliner and change it to any color you want I'm gonna be doing my 07 cateye silverado in a purple or battleship grey bedliner with bronze wheels
Battleship Grey gets my vote and will go good with the red frame
Definitely
When you powder coat the Cummins turbo you should do a red white and blue theme in camouflage
Make sure the TV cable is set correctly on the cummins trans as well or it can burn up the trans :) †quick Google search will show you how to adjust it
Nardo grey bed liner!!! For the Cummins
The HF unit is solid for what it is but it's going to have a harder time doing multiple coat projects if you decide to get wild. Do not waste any time and effort on any Eastwood stuff. If it works it will not work well If you decide to go larger in oven and coating equipment I would DIY your own oven and then look into Columbia's Hypersmooth Basic with the hopper upgrade and leave it at that. It's an affordable semi-pro level gun that can do multi coat jobs for anything you want and then after that the biggest issue you will need to resolve is how large of a media blaster you want and a larger oven for larger pieces. If you can keep your blasting to the size of the HF units and farm out the larger blast jobs that is probably the most economical path forward overall.
if you do raptor liner though, do arrival blue
Love the channel
Thanks!
The powder coating came out really nice and if you are thinking about spraying your vehicles in upcoming episodes why don't you purchase one of those portable spray booths you can use it when you need it and deflated and put it away when you're done
You can spray your parts when there hot to and throw them back it
maybe you can use a trash bag to line the bottom like a funnel and have a can to get the over spray .... its a idea
Do it gloss black raptor lined that would be awesome.
oh by the way they do make a high temp making tape made for powder coating.
I use to deliver produce to the store in Van Wert.i also live in Ohio. Van Wert is about 2œ hours away from me
I think nardo grey would look amazing on that truck
I two toned raptor lined my compound turbo 24 valve Grey on the top blue on the bottom I always planned for it to be I work
Truck/plow truck and itâs been 18 months and itâs held up really well thereâs videos of the project on my channel if your interested. I didnât want to just do it black like you said it would be too much.
If your able put a 6sp clutch in your Dodge! Friend of mine had the 5sp and 6spd with 4wheel drive ! I drove it and 6spd had great power and he said great fuel mileage!
Everyone talks crap about them but I've had mine for well over a year and it works really good
Thatâs good to know
Cool. I'm ordering a set for the dually from them. I'll make sure to hit you on the drop down
I wish my forks fit on the front of my skid steer as easy as yours do on your tractor. I have to get out with a pry bar and T Posts to get them to fit. I have beat and pried and done everything to get them to fit but to no avail. I guess I would be pissed if I needed to move anything right now. Just finished doing a DPF delete on my 2013 LML farm truck and am now just hoping for snow. Maybe I will get one of these powder coat things and tear about my tractor and to some power coating.
Old boss of mine had a single cab short box dually stick shift 12 valve had like 300k on it ran like a champ didint look the prettiest but she sure ran good
Kinetic blue metallic would look amazing
I think I should do like a Midnight blue because it something different for the channel u have a lot of red trucks so I think a midnight blue would be cool
I think momma needs to get you an easy bake oven for you to play with. lol. Looking good
đđ
I'm thinking about the afe headers for my dmax.....you should look into that little gem
I definitely have and they are awesome
@@TruckMaster I was thinking the same. Thanks
WTH? Did your dolly move by itself at 3:23? Watch it and you tell me if Iâm crazy!
Your crazy đ it looks like it though
I believe it did
Iâve got to quit watching Ghost Hunters!
How did you clean it off after the first try???
You answered me later in the video. Thanks
I would get a sport bumper for the Cummins for the sport grill you got
For the price, it works pretty well.
Shadow Grey Metallic 2019 Chevy Silverado stock color.
U need a fan in there to take care of extra power coat. Go dark blue
Is the stove you use an electric stove? I used a large microwave stove before, and I removed the oven racks and just made some wire hooks to hang my parts on which were hooked up inside of the top of the oven. It worked great, but remember, those damn parts are hot and sometimes hard to carry on hooks without dropping. It was difficult to find all the rubber stoppers to seal off various holes, but they sure do keep the powder from getting into threads and such when you coat pieces with such.
also if your going to paint the Cummins your self thats cool. but build your self a frame out of 2x4s or someing cheep and cover it in plastic that way all the paint and fumes are contained. like you said you dont want to get it all over your brand new building.
Devin niemela has some good powerboating videos as well.
Dont be afraid of spraying to much, Best part about powdercoating is you can really get to much on the part haha it just falls off, so it's always a good even coat haha :) my setup is about the same as yours haha and it works great. I'm working on building a bigger oven and use stove heat elements so I can control the temp still :) p.s. prismaticpowders has some really good powdercoat powder
Gunship grey or like a desert tan for the Cummins since you are a veteran!
Go with hemi orange for the Cummins.
I might try a powder coating I think you better go blue on the truck
Better job than the first time, also try to preheat the oven first before you put the parts in.
Thanks! Also I did preheat the oven đ
Either pant it blue or raptor line it blue that would be dope with the red
I think a destroyer grey paint job would look great idk đ€
Blue bed liner
I like that 64mm for my 08 LMM. I put an "economy" tune and fully deleted. Think I need to re-tune when upgrading to the 64mm?
You didnât need to sand bast it off you can just power coat over the powder coat
