    Powder coating is pretty forgiving. Here’s the thing; get all the rust off, clean the part very well, degrease the part, out gas the part. With the gun make sure you have a good ground. A dedicated ground rod is best. Store powders in their bag and put the bag in a jar if you are storing for a while. Add silica packets to reduce moisture. Here’s a trick I have not seen on video yet; if the part has texture and you want it smooth, sad it as much as possible the coat it with a very heavy coat. Bake and let cool. Then with 220 paper sand it smooth, put it back in the oven at 100 degrees and then recoat it, and bake as required. If you are recoating a piece, drop the temp about 50 degrees and let bake about twenty minutes extra. The undercoat has to have time to bond with the new coat. If it’s cloudy or dull when you take it out you can quickly put a light coat on while it’s hot. Really, it’s trial and error, practice and experiment. Keep it up! Thanks for the vid!

      Pretty easy to do, we have another video painting brake caliper. czcams.com/video/mKrI0TsS-Bo/video.html
      Make sure to clean your surface correctly and you can also preheat the part to get all the oil out of it if it’s the case.
      Good luck

    What air compressor are you using and how much? Look great!

    • @MassProject
      @MassProject  Před měsícem +1

      Using a 60 gallons Devilbiss V4 dual stage.
      But you can use something a lot smaller than this.
      You just need 8-10 psi to apply the powder.

      @nickyvjr4931 using my Devilbiss to sandblast. You need a lot of CFM to sandblast

    is the parts really need to be hot for the 2nd coat to stick?

    • @MassProject
      @MassProject  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Doesn’t need to be at 400f but it help a lot. If It’s to cold it doesn’t stick has good. We did brake Caliper with dual coat and the result was awesome. Second coat was easy to apply because they were still hot.
