He has taken ~7000 3pt attempts in 13 seasons and shoots a completely average( legitimately league avg, slightly LOWER for guards). 36%. That’s a TON of data that flat out proves he is nothing but avg, and is EXACTLY the type of shooter Kenny was talking about, a volume shooter.

It’s amazing. Ray did it in 1,300 games. Steph did it in 789 games. That’s insane. What makes this accomplishment even more crazy is Ray only had 1 season with 250 or more 3’s made. While Steph has 7. That’s crazy.

What's crazy to me is that Steph's got 43% career 3pt fg percentage compared to Ray's 40% despite being a more volume shooter than him. Anyone who understands statistics will be impressed by this stats. A volume shooter doesn't supposed to hit that high of a mark. Incredible!
That’s because ray allen had a all around game and players played defense back then. Curry game is all about the 3 point ball, it seems more or less like a water down stat now. Curry has numerous seasons attempting 800 or more 3’s in a season. While Allen only has 1 season shooting over 600 attempts. It’s kinda ridiculous to even compare the 2 players, because also curry is a defensive liability, while Allen actually played defense when he was in the nba

Well why wasn't Ray Allen able to launch as many 3's as steph? Answer: because he wasn't as good. If you're good enough, they'll let you shot whatever shot you want. Kobe launched contested mid range jumpers like it was nobody's business. Why did they let him? Because he was good enough to make it.

Kenny's right. As much as Curry will probably make that record extremely difficult to reach, someone who comes into the league averaging 15 3PA and shoots at a lesser percentage is still going to pass him. Especially if they remain healthy. First 6 years of Curry's career he never averaged above 9 3PA. It's going to take a while but if the game continues to trend in this direction, that record is going to definitely be breakable.
I hear him but Steph is a freak and I don’t care how many 3s you shoot a game at the end of the day his record still won’t be broken. At least we won’t be alive to see it.
What people ignore is steph still has at least 4 years to play
The thing is, Steph already shoots a lot of 3s, but also has a crazy % compared to everyone else. 15 threes during the course of a game, every game, is tiring no cap. So whoever breaks steph's record also needs crazy stamina and his efficiency.
At the end of the day. Whether the volume goes up or not will not change the fact of the matter that you need to have a god level shooting ability to still come close to Steph lol. He did it very efficiently, and he has a few years left so he’s pretty much guaranteed to have at least 600 more 3pm by the time his career is over.
That record like all records are breakable, but it’s one of those “It’ll never happen again in my lifetime” records.

Even if you account for the fact that people did not shoot as many 3's in Ray's era, Steph's numbers are still superior by far. Ray averaged 5.7 attempts per game over 1300 games to get 2973 made 3's. That means it took him 7410 total attempts to get 2973 3's. If you do the math for Steph, it took him 6864 attempts to make 2975 3's. Steph broke the record, and he did it taking 435 less shots than Ray.

So my idea of what the nba is like in 10 years is this: either the skill level for the average nba player will increase greatly where even if your a big man but can't shoot 3s or a catch a lob, you won't be in the nba or big men built like Evan Mobley or Gobert would be become a more of thing where they are skinner than 90s bigs so they can move on the perimeter.

Even if steph retires and make the record even more impossible to reach. To have someone to make those 3s, it will be someone someone who is a robot and a team that just play 3s.

The NBA has become a 3 point shooting contest. No one wants to see Blake Griffin or Brooke Lopez or these no name players in their first or second years jacking up threes.
What's going to happen is the poor 3 point shooters are eventually going to be phased out. All 5 positions will have a 3 point expectation. Besides the fundamentals, the best future players will have a 3 point shot. Some of the better High Schools and Universities will require it because the foreign players will have it in their repertoire.
The problem with your thing is, not every basketball player will be able to shoot threes so they shouldn't threes at all.
I actually like the way Brook Lopez shoots threes. He’s pretty good at it and it’s a legit arrow in his quiver.

It's like this. A 40% 3 point shooter from 10 shots gets 4 buckets. But a 25% shooter 3 point from 24 shots gets 6 buckets. All it will take is for a guy to enter the league young join a team that will allow him all of the plays and his numbers can eclipse Curry.
