As an old rocker from England I can feel your joy at this, these girls are so good, I even have them at the top of my playlist, second only to Deep Purple when driving, oh and then LOVEBITES after BAND-MAID

As an old Aussie Rocker I heartily agree, except my daughter won't let me play BM anymore when I'm driving because I racked up two speeding tickets in quick succession playing So What 😂 cheers 👍🍻

@@clivematthews5296 Yep I know and listen to them as well, also Aldious, hadn't heard of Show Ya until I stated listen to Band Maid, that's when I realised what I had missed out on
'Secret My Lips' and by extension, 'Secret Maiko Lips', starts with vocal distortion which is removed as the verse progresses, which lifts that natural compression and gives the vocal track a nice bloom to it.
Of all the reaction videos I have seen, I like your video the best. Thank you!
An absolute banger. I love how Kanami is attempting to do something different with her solos. She is constantly stretching her boundaries and not just doing fast rehashed cookie cutter metal solos. She is an innovator. Misa's Bass growls as usual and oh my goodness Akane on drums steals the show. She is a force of nature. This is one of their best songs 🤘
Did you catch their Lollapalooza performances on Hulu today, Joel? They really knocked it out of the park. They played 19 songs the previous night at the after party and then 13 more this afternoon. They didn't play this song though. Not yet. 😀

There are several songs where she starts the song with a filter on her voice, then she goes clean for the chorus. It brings it into focus.

Amazing! Every song by Band Maid is a journey, they take you on a ride and shake your boots along the way!
The first seconds and this bridge with the buildup driven by the drums already belong to the best of them for me. And yes, that they set the place on fire was really fitting. 🔥🤘🏻
That effect on Saiki's voice isn't used that infrequently at all. However, I think it was most prominently used in their song 'Rinne' so far, which has a similar energy signature as this song here. :)

Maybe I forgot some but these are songs with more or less vocal effects. Sometimes it's in the beginning of the song, sometimes at the end of the verse, before the solo or during the bridge. 🙃

Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid.
So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘Thx, Joel!

A bomb exploded today in the morning in the world of CZcams...it was thrown by Band-Maid...what a banger...( The song Secret my Lips has that effect on the voice too)

Listen to Misa's bass riffs through each verse. Every part of every riff is almost completely different and she goes nuts on every song as well.
I was there for the "premier" yesterday, and right before it started I told everyone in chat "Everyone shut up! Kanami is about to speak!"
And for all of 5 seconds...NO ONE said anything in chat. lol

Distortion/effects on the vocals during the verse is used frequently in BM songs: Rinne, Secret My Lips, Unleash!!!!!, Bubble, from just off the top of my head.

I heard some heavy "Industrial Metal" mixed in. I haven't heard that from them before but I love it. Miku and that Flappy Pigeon can chug with the best of 'em.
Of course it's a Banger. It's Band Maid. They are performing at Lallapalooza this weekend. A major step for a Japanese Band in the West!!!!!

Dragon Cries has a bunch of distortion on the vocals for pretty much the whole song... which makes it kind of divisive amongst the fan base. Check it out, it's different.

Vocals on Dragon Cries were produced Tony Visconti who also produced some David Bowie albums.

Never was a fan of the effect they use on Saiki's voice. And they use it in several songs. Now it sounds like they are using it on Kanami's guitar. Other than that, it's a banger!
Rinne has distorted vocals. One of my personal favorites!

Some bands get old and stale, and become parodies of themselves. Band Maid is not one of them.
They are very good at self evaluation and change.

Blooming, Rinne, Don’t let me down, along with few others use distortion on the vocals. I feel they over use it. That and over compressing everything. They did back off the compression a small amount on the remastering of the new 10 anniversary set. On many of the albums they are so compressed the inter-sample-peaks push the audio levels to above 0dBfs. I'm hoping it is enough I can listen to the album without ear fatigue by the 3rd song.
From an email Band-maid sent out "Shambles" will be the ending theme song for Netflix "Kengan Asura" Season 2!" Maybe they only use the distortion that are theme songs, I'm not sure.
Already done both albums and sound 👍👍 to me but that's my opinion

I enjoyed it a lot more with the captions off. The translated lyrics confused me more than they connected. Musically I dig it.
I think that's cause it's specifically written as an anime outro so if not familiar with the anime some of the lyrics are a little???
It was good but didn't care for the vocals I hope they don't use the distortion when they play this live
Rinne music video has heavy distortion on her vocals but yea, good song…im just sorry for Kanami’s wrists…she keeps writing these crazy songs but then she has to perform them live over and over again 😂

ANOTHER ABANDONED WAREHOUSE? ANOTHER SONG IN THE BAND-MAID "FORMULA". I HOPE TO SEE MORE "SLOWER ROCK" SONGS THAT THEY DO BETTER THAN ANYONE, IMHO. FANS ALSO WANT TO HEAR MORE OF KANAMI SINGING. HOPING MORE MVs ARE RELEASED SHOWING MORE VARIETY OF STYLES AND INFLUENCES.
