    Thanks for the walkthrough. Interesting way of stripping wires but that makes perfect sense what you said. Keep it up.

    Aaron, thank you for your video. It helped me wire up my new headlight. Halo & headlight work great! I used heat shrinking tubing instead of electrician tape. When we receive my wife's ST ebike, I will setup her headlight too. My bad - I should of took photos of my tidy and awesome work. Thanks again. Much appreciated!

    You initially got me started down the path of installing a better light, but there were many road blocks of failure. The light would stay on initially and then not come on any more. So, long story short I wound up installing a tiny 12v motorcycle battery. I didn't want to mess with the Lectric Controller. I have also installed a spare battery that's in the RockBros Bag also that will allow for extended travel. I wired in a on\off switch for the headlight and juice horn. The first one the headlight switch was faulty, so had to order another one. The 8,000 lumen headlight is awesome! The spare battery is a success, and the switch on the handlebars works great! Note: I didn't realize the 12v battery charger had a 6v setting besides a 12v setting. It was left on 6v and pretty much got fried. I ordered a much better charger. Despite all this, I'm not disgruntled about my frustrations and loses - it was a good learning experience and at the end I have a better bike.

      How did you wire up a 12v motorcycle headlight? Don’t you need a converter or voltage regulator?

    Nice vid, step by step it’s very professional. 😝 I’ve been looking for a vid like this and was unlucky. You should do a Lectric series on the upgrades you do there’s very few to none videos of Lectric.

    Great video. Thank you. I'll have to check on this because my stock headlight sucks and I dont want to buy a rechargeable lights if I can install a brighter light . I couldn't just buy 1 because they was out of stock. But they had a pair of 2 so I bought them could I hook up both lights with using the same wires?

  • @VertedMonk

    Good information, I just ordered. In the last silent part of the video I’m assuming that small blue wire is the one you tied into for the halo. Do you have a video showing that process for the install?

    • @aaronseely2710
      @aaronseely2710  Před 3 lety +2

      Correct, the blue wire for the halo only nothing more, this is the circuit that applies power for the display and backlight when the power is enabled, limit 500ma on this line!

    Hi, Nice video but a few questions. I am buying a Lectric Bike. I ordered a $17 bright light on Amazon. Wonder if it will work like yours? Also, can I bend the bracket without heat? I dont have a way to heat the metal up except using my gas stove. I dont solder, can I use small wire nuts to affix the wires? I am hoping the lights are water proof incase it get stuck in a downpour. The light I ordered on Amazon is Leorx 12-85 volt, switchless. Thanks in advance for your assistance Sir.

      To connect the wires use butt connectors that have shrink wrap. I bend wire all the time without heat. Also I carry plastic bags that cover my throttle,screen and switches for heavy down pours. Will do same for light

    Will this work with the Lectric Black XP 2.0 and would it have issue with the controllers and what about the wattage on the
    Lectric XP 2.0, wouldn’t want to fry it.
    Or any light would work

    • @aaronseely2710
      @aaronseely2710  Před 2 lety +1

      This will apply to any bike that has the M5 controller screen system, the model number can be found on the rear of the screen or on the control box.

    Could you wire the yellow and reds together so the halo and light come on when you switch the light on. So the halo is not always on?

    • @aaronseely2710
      @aaronseely2710  Před 6 měsíci

      I would say yes, as long as it doesn’t exceed the output limits of the controller

  • @cmmbsnyder55
    @cmmbsnyder55 Před 3 lety

    Light works great, but once on it won't turn off unless you kill it by turning the key off. I'm wondering if the original light has some sort of chip to communicate with the display software? Just wondering.

    • @aaronseely2710
      @aaronseely2710  Před 3 lety +2

      Sounds as though you may have a defective controller, we have 4 bikes with these lights and never had any issue yet, but I've read about others having this problem sporadically.

      @@jim5269 yes i just installed the same light without connected the yellow wire for the hallow. Tried the lights a bunch of times and worked great. When i connected the yellow wire to the blue wire, I turned the power ON and the hallow came ON, then I turn the headlights ON and after wouldn't shut off. Now I took off the yellow wire and still the lights don't turn off unless turning the key to kill power. Quick note, I am a car electronic technician so I have +20 years in the industry and sounds like that yellow wire blew the headlights switch circuitry. Should've done my own testing before connecting that yellow wire. Now i have to open the control box and see whats need replacing as lectric won't cover that under warranty!!!

      @@jim5269 i have a feeling that because this bike was such in demand that they changed manufacturers and that some electronic components may have different specs. That light draws 1.5A which is alot so im guessing it overloaded a circuitry. Im just glad it didn't damage the whole brain box!

    • @aaronseely2710
      @aaronseely2710  Před 3 lety

      Yes, I would have a select switch between the 2 lights as I'm not sure the total load capacity the control can handle. If you use the battery itself without the control though, your good to go.

      @@aaronseely2710 well I took the wire from the stock light and wired the new light. It worked wonderfully. Rode it 10 miles then stopped at a friends house to show it to him and it was super dim. Then it wouldn’t turn off at all except when I turned off the key. Weird right? And the rear red led stayed on as well even when the controller had it off. It the light back feeding somehow?
