  • Recently Electrified my Trek Marlin 5, after breaking and losing lights in the past I decided to fit Electric lights run from the Ebike battery. Searching for a set was like dipping you toe in the ocean as there are lots on offer but little info, I was apprehensive at first as there is little info on wiring them and how they work and I hope my video will ease anyone's anxiety as they are an easy fit.
    Check out this link below for simplified wiring diagram.

    I just purchased this kit as a plug and play for a Bafang BBSHD. I bought the kit off eBay and installed it 4 days ago. For the bafang kit, there is 1 plug that plugs into the main wire harness and that’s it. It does not use the bafang headlight 5v. So it’s really nice with the exception of the useless turn signals. The headlight is bright, the horn is loud, and best of all, the brake light is bright. The brake light works even when the headlights is off ( as it should).
    I am super happy I bought this kit.
    Good Video

    Its been a few months since i used this video to hook mine up and just wanted to say thanks for the help. I made a video myself rewiring the harness to bypass a controller to plug in brake wires directly 🤙 black to one side of the brake switch and grounded the other side of the brake switch to the light kits main ground off the power plug. Been working great for months now 🙌

    Can I easily add this to my ebike controller? My ebike only has one power source for the battery, do I simply just buy a 2 way splitter cable so I can hook one to my controller and one to these lights?

    • @Makemrule1973

      That's what I would do TBF, if you do - put an inline fuse in just in case you have a problem. My controller has a power out for this but if it didn't that is what I would have done myself.

    Hello. I bought an Yume M11 electric scooter. The scooter came with the rear light broken (the red diffuser ) and because was mounted on the rear fender after a while broke completely. Yume sent me a replacement but now I have no brake light. I changed the connectors between them and the led's are working either 2 either 3 from 5 total which 3 I presume should be for the brake light. I understood that the controller has a low and a high brake wire. Is the high 12V? I will mount a separate brake light but I see other connectors with only 1 wire. It means the wire is only +? If yes which one. And the ground is common with other ground wire? Please help me. [Smile]

      The wiring for the lights I have is 12 to 48v so will work all between, the three plugs (3:20mins) from the rear lamp are x2 black and one yellow - the yellow one is for indicators each wire a different direction. The red and black wires into one of the plugs is earth (black) and red (live)for the tail lamp power and the other black plug has white (earth) and the blue (live) to light the brake lamp.

      They are not the brightest in the world but also not the most expensive, being mainly off road I have yet to use them anyway but will be effective in lower light levels and not bright sun. Worth it IMO just for the headlamp alone which is super bright.

    Any tips on which wires source the power?

    • @Makemrule1973
      @Makemrule1973  Před 3 lety +1

      Power is supplied through the white male plug that has x2 black negative wires into one side and x2 red positive wires into the other, depending on your type of controller mine had an output that plugged straight in but others will have to be either remove pins or cut them to connect your pos and neg supply. Shown in the video @ 8.0mins.

      I have not seen a mounting bracket for this kit, mine is mounted to my rear pannier rack that had hole already to take a lamp and fitted great, you could make one if you have the skills or have one 3D printed.

      Unfortunately the supplier shipped cable brake levers instead of hydraulic sensors, they promised they would ship them but I have yet to receive them, there are 2 small black connectors leftover for brake connectors and I will at some point put them on when I have them. 👍

    • @Makemrule1973
      @Makemrule1973  Před 3 lety +1

      My Brake sensors did arrive and I have only just had time to fit them, simple enough job to do and connect up, the sensors working shows as brake applied on my info screen but unfortunately connecting to the rear lamp would cause the Headlamp to go off and shut the power off. I tried multiple ways of connecting to no avail (there is only one way really) so I have no working brake lamp. I will at some point if I have time have a look deeper into this to see why but TBH I'm mainly off road so it doesn't worry me.

      Roy I would message one of the sellers, my bike is 48v.The kit as advertised states 12-72v front lamp with built in horn - then states 36-60v rear tail lamp with brake and turn function ! Sort of contradicts the first statement, my advise would contact a seller before you buy then at least you have them telling you it will be ok.
