In legends, she suffered even worse. Dooku literally ordered her death on the battlefield, but at least in that, she managed to build a new life. In Canon, she died forgotten and only cared for by Vos. She pretty much had a shitty childhood and past.

Writers had an idea to include her in the Resistance show to fight Kylo Ren, but Filoni said that everyone would care only about Asajj and no other character. Well, as a result nobody cares about this show at all...
She held her own and even outsmarted some of the strongest Jedi ever. She held her own against both Anakin and Obi Wan several times, defeated Grievous in a duel, nearly killed Luminara Unduli. She’s a very VERY powerful user of the dark side.
Definately stronger than Grand Inquisitor, even though Filoni claimed he was on the level of Ventress. If she was fully trained by Sith, (her training by Dooku was incomplete) she might be on the level of Maul. And it is a shame she never learned Nightsister magicks. Those might have given her edge, or at least versatility, over other Sith and Jedi.

I just remembered that Ventress was the one responsible for taking out his eye awhile ago, and he was going up against her without any backup. Just a reminder that this is someone who took on the Chosen One and a jedi master who defeated two sith...at the same time. Supremely underrated swordsman.
Asajj is such a complex character. Cunning, arrogant (rightfully) but with a sense of pride and honor (will not betray), will seek vengeance relentlessly. There's a hint of empathy and occasional tease. Fate has it that she has undergone so many trials, what height would she have risen if allowed to stay with the Jedi order.

Retconning is a slippery slope, If disney wants their canon to be taken seriously they have to stay consistent, they’ve already created enough problems with their canon as it is. Georges canon had 40+ years of material and it all has stayed consistent, Disney has wrecked their canon several times since they bought it.

Asajj Ventress is my favourite character in Star Wars. Such an amazingly complex and tragic character. Dark disciples and the way her character was explored further was also incredible
I know she became a better character and all after the betrayal, but I can't help but wonder what she would have been like if she became a fully fledged Dark Lady of the Sith like she wanted to be (and like Sidious feared).
very much in line with most other villains in this series tbh. Dooku and Sidious are pretty much the only ones who tolerate a setback, and thats because they know they are playing both sides of the chessboard in the end anyways, while Vader and Tarkin coped with failure by killing off a subordinate.
I believe the book was about to get retconned if the timing is right cause she was gonna be in Star Wars Resistance, but they scrapped that idea cause she’s too popular lol

I will read Ahsoka and the Thrawn trilogy (the old old one, from legends) very soon. They are different kind of books, so it's hard to compare. But being honest, is literally everything you can expect from a very good Clone Wars arc. The best thing is that just like in any book, you can see what the characters are thinking and feeling. And trust me, the main characters are really interesting. Also, there are lots of references to other clone wars episodes. If it was part of the series, it will probably be in my top 2-5 arcs, among with Maul's, Ahsoka's and Fives's episodes.

I always preferred grevious over ventress in the early seasons, but what they did with her in the later seasons made me prefer ventress over grevious. They did a really good job on her arc, really this whole show is great.

Never noticed the Ventress's theme, but with all these back to back I now hear it and it's sick. Ventress always seemed kind of an underrated character, her story was very good and she was always somewhat comparable to Ahsoka in a way to me.

Never noticed the Ventress's theme, but with all these back to back I now hear it and it's sick. Ventress always seemed kind of an underrated character, her story was very good and she was always somewhat comparable to Ahsoka in a way to me.

And this is the reason The Dark Disciple arc never made it on screen. Having released it as part of TCW animated series, all the fans would have gone "crazy" about Ventress and then they would be "obliged" to make a live action series about her...

I get that Dooku was ordered to have ventress killed, but like he didn't have to be so cruel about it - the sith may be against empathy, but lack of empathy does not mean a sociopathic nature inscribed to cause pain - He could have just given her no reason rather than that she's a failure, keep her fighting to the death at least - the way he laid it out, she very easily could have turned back to the light and surrendered herself to the jedi had Obi-Wan and Anakin not been such dicks

26:48 After that moment I wished for Savage Opress to do the same for Asajj Ventress no matter what she suffered before. But then Savage had his tragic end and Ventress was starting to change for better.
Since that moment part of me shall never accept her redemption arc. And even when interrogated by Anakin, part of me wished for her execution at his hands and never talking about it. But he was still good enough to resist that temptation and he only departed with threats.
