And lesson number one, always keep flying the airplane!! Personally I’d be having a heart attack and coming unglued I’d think. To me this is the most terrifying general aviation incident possible, fire in the cockpit. You did a fantastic job keeping your cool all the way home!!

Thanks William. That’s very true: composure is key to keep your thinking sharp. And training is the only way to increase our chances in the face of an emergency

Not a nice thing to happen! I see you opened the air vent pretty quickly.
I have just started flying Skylarks after the ubiquitous C42 trainers, so it's good to know - Smoke in the cockpit could be a coolant reservoir leak.
    Thanks for the video.

You are going to have a good time in your skylark! Where are you based?

@@skylarkpilot Thanks, I am really looking forward to it. I shall be chartering out of Konstanz, southern Germany, once the transition training is completed.

Reason of the smoke ? Just curious. By the way nice reaction, Safety First!

Thanks. Something rather simple: the engine coolant reservoir had a crack. Under pressure, the coolant spilled all over the engine bay, and when in contact with the hot exhaust and other hot components it generated that white smoke. The mechanics at DOVA quickly changed the reservoir for a new one, cleaned up the engine, and I flew away with no issues just an hour later.
