Great

Serves him right for his wisecracking commentary against lewis Hamilton. KARMA!
Things the Seb-Ham incident might have distracted you from:
-Renault 6-7
-Gasly got lapped
-Ricciardo's battle with Bottas
-Norris' battle with Max
-Norris' brakes melting his suspension
-Charles gaining over 3 seconds in a lap and a half
-Kvyat's amazing overtakes
-Kevin getting yelled at by his boss (then saying sorry)
-Hulk overtaking Bottas
Edit: I forgot:
-Kubica getting a 2.0s stop and Max getting a "1.8s" stop which actually wasn't that because the graphic came up before he even pitted.
-Lance Stroll getting back up to P9
-Gio beating Kimi
Tarmius yeah he’s to ferrari fanboyish
And Williams winning fastest pit-stop with a 2.00 stop for KUB.
Stroll from 16 to 9
Stroll p17 to p9

The funniest part is. Is that The Fia official Instagram page has disabled comments
Part of that is probably because for those of us with subscriptions to the site vs watching on the Tele, we missed the first 20 laps due to their website being down... again...

@@supersasukemaniac nah I agree with the penalty I was just jumping on the bandwagon lol
You missed the fight in between Valteri vs. Ricciardo.
I disagree with the destion, but i can see that the FIA kinda had their hands tied as the rules do say that you must rejoin safely. And I think the argument that Seb didn't have control is the exact reason he got the penalty.
But again, its anther demonstion that the rules might need a overhaul as you cant pick and choose which rules your apply.
And it did neutralised the race up front, which was wrong
Should have made him give up position , and let them fight it out on the track, atleast he would have chance to fix his mistake,But like you said " hands were tied"

Well I guess that the FIA has been different since Charlie Whiting passed away.
I hoped it would get better. Boy i was wrong. Whiting wasn't the only Hamilton fanboy it seems.
The race stewards jobs are also to ensure nobody gets an advantage by for example driving off track like Vettel did. I get that it was a mistake, but if you cant overtake when someone makes a mistake, when can you?
Look at what Hamilton did to Ricciardo at Monaco 2016. He got no penalty for that

they did a 1.8 second pitstop.
Xabier Look at the DHL fastest pit stop award of F1’s channel
@@nicko123454 well, i saw a 1.8 sec pitstop when verstappen did it. Maybe it was wrong.
I think a penalty was deserved but not 5 seconds. I would of had Vettel give Hamilton the position and then let the racing continue.
Hamilton had to take evasive action because of a mistake Vettel made regardless of whether he intentionally blocked him or not, which is why I think no penalty would have been unfair.
Verstapen’s pit clock stopped at 1.8 before he had even stopped in pit box.
On Vettel, it’s a penalty, rule states he must leave a car width when returning to track, he didn’t leave an inch of track, slam dunk.
I think if you listen to the engine revs he accelerates when on the grass.
So he actively took the option to go back on track, knowing theres a car 1s behind him and he will be struggling to stay under control of the car.
He could've (and arguably should've) let the car roll on track, so Hamilton could go through and he would not risk a collision. But because he was desperate to hold the lead he didn't and decided (in a split second admittedly, but that doesn't really matter) to put himself in that position.
By the rule book he commited to an unsafe track reentry, forcing another car offtrack/towards the wall/to back off. He recieved what the rulebook says must be applied.
Was 5s for that a bit harsh? Probably. Did it ruin the battle for first? Definetly. Can we change it? No. Are the booing people brainless (or at least to lazy too use their brain) sheep, who are just full of hatred, getting fed up, thinking everyone is against Ferrari and won't understand that this is not Mercedes' fault until their idol tells them to stop? Absolutely.
Maybe the rules are shit, but then you should argue about the rules, say what you think needs changing, think about other incidents that would become legal if there was a change and evaluate if this is worth it, instead of blindly attacking everyone involved, because that does truly not help anyone and makes people on the other side of the argument feel like you're just a bunch of idiots, who shouldn't be listened to, because they have no clue what the fuck they're talking about....Thanks for your attention
PS: if you think this happened because the FIA and the stewards are Hamilton fans you have serious paranoia issues and nobody can help you anymore
Great detail! And yes I also think VET pulled a "Schumi" on HAM and lost...
He definitely doesnt lift off... I dont think the revs go up but hes keeping a constant speed across the grass. He was always going to mess up worse in that case. Stupidity!
@@EvO24 Sadly yes. I think part of his outrage was against himself. You know how hard that is to digest...
Just look at what Hamilton does to Ricciardo at Monaco a few years ago (2017 I believe). Hamilton does exactly the same, he goes of and closes the door for ricciardo.
@2SRL Thimo Finally a voice of reason. Most of these fools complaining and some threatening the stewards have very little respect for Emanuele Pirro - a bonafide racing legend. The ruling was consistent with other incidents such as max and kimi in suzuka last year.
The 5s wasn't harsh, as it's the least severe available. What we should be talking about, is yet against Sebastian cracking under pressure.
“Every one has a nose, you can pick your own” Martin bundle
Haha
My Little League baseball coach had a slightly different version - "Opinions are like buttholes, everyone's got one, and they all stink."
Thank you WTF1 for properly looking at all sides of the controversy and then making a stand!
I was at the race Matt! The fans in attendance didn’t know about the Seb penalty, quite interesting in the grandstand when it broke with 5 laps to go
(Vettel goes fastest)
maFIA:Wait,That's illegal
MJ Fanboy and rightfully so
Some say the penalty was undeserved which is okay and he can be mad but switching the cons was so immature and childish and very disrespectful to Lewis who didn’t made a mistake
And if Vettel wouldn’t have cracked under pressure nothing would have happened so Vettels fault
F1 fans always want to say the FIA are biased when it suits their argument. When a call goes Ferrari's way, it's 'Ferrari International Assistance' but when a call like in Canada goes Merc's way, it's because they don't want Ferrari in the lead. People say that Hamilton only got a penalty in Spa 08 because they wanted Massa to win, but those same guys say the fia were too lenient on Mclaren with spygate. If people are going to say they're biased then at least be consistent
@@Leon-iz9cw For the record Seb defended people booing Hamilton on the podium. At NO POINT did he have a dig at Hamilton, he was protesting to the stewards.
This comment is so true like props to you mate
if hamilton wasn't close behind him, vettel would now be enjoying the praise for a remarkable recovery and escape. his mistake was going off the track, not in cutting hamilton off.
If Lewis wasn't behind him, he probably wouldn't have made the mistake. He makes makes mistakes when he is being pressurised, often by Lewis.
I think that a penalty was justified as even though he didn’t gain time for going of track he didn’t get disadvantaged either which he should of for making the mistake.
NinjaTri HD why do you having racing incidents then? Should just have penalties, any lock up or mistake....FIA will be like: 5 seconds for you sir

@@raj16989 Racing incidents are when both drivers / neither driver are equally at fault.
another brilliant video!
Nico Rosberg has said it was a fair penalty and vettel broke the rules and unsafely joined the track and drove directly across Hamilton's path.
Vettel made a mistake drove straight back on the course and never braked on the track nor check for the all clear but simply drove straight across the track to cut Hamilton off.

If hamilton and vettel swapped places at that incident many would be happy with the penalty.
Gasly sucks btw drop him already, he is just too scared to make any mistake that he is not doing anything at all.
"If hamilton and vettel swapped places at that incident many would be happy with the penalty."
Exactly. People moan about the FIA not being consistent, but people change their opinion based on which driver and team did it. And I know a 100% sure that Vettel would have been crying furiously on the radio if Hamilton did this to him.
@dripkakashi sensei albon and kvyat are consistently good this season but albon deserve that chance more since he is a rookie and he already head to head with kvyat.

@Suiyru ...Im in favor of letting the fastest driver win. vettel lost control under pressure. Ham takes open area to overtake then vettel trys to push him to wall.
I think it's debatable if Vettel was trying to defend or saving the car (I agree with Matt more because what the drivers have said), it's a tricky situation and it sucks FIA kinda had to pick a side and end the race there.
Alumnikiid vettel didn’t try to put Hamilton into the wall that’s kind of a dumb comment , vettel was trying to defend his position is a better comment

Max Verstappen was given the same penalty last season for a similar incident involving Kimi Raikkonen.
It was a slow corner compared to vettel incident and max had the car under control...
He didn't have the car under control because he went over a curb before coming back onto the track and he was going fast enough to go across the track and back onto the racing line, forcing Raikkonen to avoid any contact.
What made it worse for the Vettel and Hamilton incident was that on the outside there was a wall.
It would be awesome if the pictures were a little bigger. Thank you!

Mercedes just get a lot of hate because they’re the best team currently, happens in every sport, the successful teams/players always get hate, but are appreciated when their dominance ends
I sort of get the ruling on Vettel rejoining the track, if you apply the letter of the law (as the rules state) it probably wasn't safe.
The problem is the rules, it should be;
Rule 1.1: They're racing, it's a race.. racing stuff happens in racing.
Then have all your rules after that so that it's less of a legal style system and a 'boys will be boys' (or girls) attitude can be applied when need be.

Lol xD
Can someone explain why drivers aren't given time to complete another lap when it's compromised by a crash like in Q2? Thanks
Anybody else noticed that the 1.8 seconds pitstop for Verstappen was seen as a graphic even before he came to his pit box?
My view,
1) Max was given a similar penalty for a similar incident in Japan last year
2) Vettel could have rejoined the track slower, but he'd have lost the lead, therefore he did have a choice and by choosing to not slow down as I'm sure he would have done in practice if he had gone off he forced Hamilton to lift off, which surely is the definition of rejoining in an unsafe manner.
3) The good old days of no penalties didn't exist, think Prost and Senna in Japan
4) Vettel is the worst for complaining on the radio and has had lenient penalties before (Baku 2017) and shouted on the radio (Mexico 2016) despite saying in the press conference he doesn't think much of all the complaints.
5)Every driver looses out from penalties (Spa 2008) its luck of the draw and there is precedent for this one
6) it is the rules that are wrong, I agree he shouldn't have been given a penalty but with the rules as they are the stewards had no choice
This is so well said... so sad that the F1-Rules basically regulate the racing in F1 .-.
What right do you have, coming into a CZcams comments section and posting a perfect sensible comment. How dare you!! ;-)
The FIA are compliancy officers. No more no less.. the Marketers and that includes Brundle want the season challenge to to the wire and are quite prepared to bend the rules if it suits their end game...no more no less
