    Things the Seb-Ham incident might have distracted you from:
    -Renault 6-7
    -Gasly got lapped
    -Ricciardo's battle with Bottas
    -Norris' battle with Max
    -Norris' brakes melting his suspension
    -Charles gaining over 3 seconds in a lap and a half
    -Kvyat's amazing overtakes
    -Kevin getting yelled at by his boss (then saying sorry)
    -Hulk overtaking Bottas
    Edit: I forgot:
    -Kubica getting a 2.0s stop and Max getting a "1.8s" stop which actually wasn't that because the graphic came up before he even pitted.
    -Lance Stroll getting back up to P9
    -Gio beating Kimi

    I think a penalty was deserved but not 5 seconds. I would of had Vettel give Hamilton the position and then let the racing continue.

  • @AdLamb
    @AdLamb Před 5 lety +1

    Verstapen’s pit clock stopped at 1.8 before he had even stopped in pit box.
    On Vettel, it’s a penalty, rule states he must leave a car width when returning to track, he didn’t leave an inch of track, slam dunk.

  • @2sthimo449
    @2sthimo449 Před 5 lety +27

    I think if you listen to the engine revs he accelerates when on the grass.
    So he actively took the option to go back on track, knowing theres a car 1s behind him and he will be struggling to stay under control of the car.
    He could've (and arguably should've) let the car roll on track, so Hamilton could go through and he would not risk a collision. But because he was desperate to hold the lead he didn't and decided (in a split second admittedly, but that doesn't really matter) to put himself in that position.
    By the rule book he commited to an unsafe track reentry, forcing another car offtrack/towards the wall/to back off. He recieved what the rulebook says must be applied.
    Was 5s for that a bit harsh? Probably. Did it ruin the battle for first? Definetly. Can we change it? No. Are the booing people brainless (or at least to lazy too use their brain) sheep, who are just full of hatred, getting fed up, thinking everyone is against Ferrari and won't understand that this is not Mercedes' fault until their idol tells them to stop? Absolutely.
    Maybe the rules are shit, but then you should argue about the rules, say what you think needs changing, think about other incidents that would become legal if there was a change and evaluate if this is worth it, instead of blindly attacking everyone involved, because that does truly not help anyone and makes people on the other side of the argument feel like you're just a bunch of idiots, who shouldn't be listened to, because they have no clue what the fuck they're talking about....Thanks for your attention
    PS: if you think this happened because the FIA and the stewards are Hamilton fans you have serious paranoia issues and nobody can help you anymore

    The problem is the rules, it should be;

    My view,
    1) Max was given a similar penalty for a similar incident in Japan last year
    2) Vettel could have rejoined the track slower, but he'd have lost the lead, therefore he did have a choice and by choosing to not slow down as I'm sure he would have done in practice if he had gone off he forced Hamilton to lift off, which surely is the definition of rejoining in an unsafe manner.
    3) The good old days of no penalties didn't exist, think Prost and Senna in Japan
    4) Vettel is the worst for complaining on the radio and has had lenient penalties before (Baku 2017) and shouted on the radio (Mexico 2016) despite saying in the press conference he doesn't think much of all the complaints.
    5)Every driver looses out from penalties (Spa 2008) its luck of the draw and there is precedent for this one
    6) it is the rules that are wrong, I agree he shouldn't have been given a penalty but with the rules as they are the stewards had no choice
