That compass update is a GODSEND. I only wish there was a mini map option as well.
Take a moment to memorize the scenery and appreciate the map design, you won't regret it.
It's fine, but I realized that following a compass really hinders "soaking in the scenery" for a game, and actually LEARNING where things are is always beneficial as long as the maps aren't too big (Stellar Blade's maps were not). Holding down the drone's scan was enough for this game, because it wasn't constantly reminding you. It told you where you were going, but you also had the freedom to explore a bit and not feel completely off the path.
And less UI clutter is always good, so a minimap is definitely NOT needed.
There are times I got lost in the scenery that I had to pull up the compass multiple times just to find out where I'm going, glad they're making it a permanent feature
Wait... the compass thing is an option... not a change that everyone has to live with now, right? I prefer a clear HUD.
Can't remember it showing up on my screen at least.
(Probably because I've already picked the option to hide all the HUD stuff in the settings.)
But I noticed the extra puzzle time.
I think it's the usual speed on the first try. But when you fail you get like 3 more seconds for it.
We need a new area for more exploration.

Photomode is officially confirmed. They want to make a very feature rich photomode, so they don’t want to rush it. Can’t wait:D
As long as Sony keeps forcing Shift Up to censor, it's very unlikely. The PC port will most likely have no censorship at all and might out sell the console version.

They did add 2 outfits from Roxanne if the uncensored versions of the bunny suit and the other one so they didn't act like they caved but also listing two fans and yeah I hated the whole gore nerf but to be honest that might have been a region thing due to the laws on game content
This is my GOTY. Replayed it 3 times and got the Platinum trophy.
The game is challenging but fair and it feels so good overcoming the bosses and the OST is easily one of the best soundtracks for a game I've ever played.
I do hope the sequel focuses on the story more and bosses have new attack patterns on hard mode (and Photo Mode assuming we don't get it here).
I absolutely LOVE the support and praise this game is getting, the boss rush look amazing and can't wait for the collab outfits.
Can't wait to see what Shift Up has in store for the future outside of Stellar Blade as well!
GOTY contender definitely, but not GOTY. For me goes to FF7 Rebirth
@@bungifish2227 agreed. It’s just slightly below Rebirth for me. Rebirth’s world design is unreal and the OST is incredible. For their first console game, Shift Up did an incredible job with a stunning game that has incredible game design and the OST absolutely slaps (especially in the late game). Spire 4 is just visually and audibly incredible. Some of the late game bosses were a little more challenging than I had expected. Game also runs at a solid 60FPS out of the gate. I’ve had zero frame drops. The combat is incredible. Really couldn’t ask more from a game.
FF7 and persona 3 reload are my goty contenders for sure .
@@stakesishigh516 yh FF7 Rebirth is literally the full package. Amazing story, characters, music, graphics, combat, features, content, even the damn side missions are some of the best square has ever made. StellarBlade while also amazing, lacks in the story/plot department and characters aren't as fleshed out as FF7 (makes sense since there was also remake)
@@bungifish2227 zero arguments here. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is my hands down pick for GOTY. If “Shadow of the Erdtree” wasn’t a DLC and an actual game (although, it’s probably going to be bigger than most regular games) it would easily be my GOTY for this year.
Can't get Lies of P and fromsoft to give us a boss rush mode apart from sekiro despite it being something fans have been requesting for a while and here comes Shift Up and drops the mode in less than a month. Honestly, props to them 👏. Hope we get a sequel cuz for their first console game this is amazing.
Sekiro’s boss rush is so good though. It fits in Sekiro but it really doesn’t fit in the other games to be honest. Shift up absolutely killed it with how good the parry mechanics are. Especially, with the DualSense. That sound lives rent free in my head.

All of Miyazaki’s games are 100% story and lore focused. If boss rushes don’t make sense in the lore then no boss rush. I think Sekiro was able to cause Miyazaki wasn’t the main director for that one lol
@@OMEKS_1 not even that. I was thinking more that Sekiro was strictly combat without any summons or spirit ashes…so a boss rush wouldn’t make sense in any of the Dark Souls or Elden Ring.
For me, it’s more fun to replay the game so I can feel the excitement of getting back to the bosses that I love to fight. It’s about the entire experience of the game.
There's also 2 new nano suits/outfits at Roxanne's shop that you can purchase.
I appreciate that the compass is not always on which forces you to visually recognize the scene and know where you are just like in the real world. Navigation in most games nowadays is way too easy and it breaks immersion.
For me, it depends. I don't need it to be like the real world. Sometimes I just wanna know where to go
It's optional, right? We have different types of immersion.
I think they want a PC version to be released ASAP so that the devs would like to see what ridiculous mods they're going to see.
The story and world building is phenomenal. Most people have not bothered to go through the over 300 documents and memory sticks that establish the world of Stellar Blade (when Elder Ring does it, it is a masterpiece, when Stellar Blade does it, "oh, it doesn't have a story"). Plus, about the sidequest thing, this is the point, at some point on it is engraved in you that when someone is looking for a beloved one, they have most possibly perished, it becomes melancholic knowing beforehand that you will most possibly "disappoint" them.
Yeah I am currently trying to get all the memory chips just to go through all of the world building.
It’s BS when Fromsoft does it, too. I’m one of those people who when people praise a Soulsbourne story replies with “WHAT STORY???”
The gameplay in From Software games might be pretty great, and the worlds usually really interesting. But eff me, they do NOT have a story.
Stellar Blade has a story, and it tells it. It’s worldbuilding is in the notes and sticks, though. Which is kind of annoying, but not a huge deal.

The game is so beautiful I appreciated the dynamic HUD going so bare during general traversal.
Good for those that need that though. Options are never bad.
I just got the Platinum trophy and now I have a reason to go back to the game. Not only for the boss rush, but also for trying to find what they meant by the And... in their Tweet.

the game is selling really well on ps5. A pc version is not gonna happen until years down the line. Sony wants to hold their IP exclusively for aslong as they can.

I really liked the game! I am for sure buying it again when it comes to PC even though I already got the platinum trophy. My favorite game of all time is Sekiro, and Stellar Blade did scratch that "parry mechanic itch" I have been having.
Edit: If you guys have any recommendations for other games that are like Sekiro I would be happy to hear about them. Have not played Lies of P yet but have heard that it's kind of similar

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm already putting it next to Helldivers 2 for my Game of the Year choices. So I'm excited to see more!
I finish Stellar Blade 3 times so far twice in NG plus, the game is just that insane, combat soundtrack and more. Its amazing we are still getting updates on the game too, I am maxed out on everything looking forward to boss challenge mode.
But honestly I am very puzzled to were stellar Blade 2 could go, we got 3 endings, and all 3 are good endings and that would signal that stellar blade is the end.
All 3 endings specifically mentioned that it would continue

With the way nexusmods has been lately, the only mods that will survive are those that make Eve fat or turn into a male

Happy to hear about the compass update and I'm about half way through the main story. I've been really hoping they'll add the option to fast travel back to the main city from any point instead of needing to go through phone booths.
I would love a story expansion or a dlc where you play as tachy or Raven.
the HUD choice by the developer is kinda weird. they intentionally made compass disappear after 10-15 sec, but made the potion/item HUD always on-screen, which is kinda useless. I'd rather have compass always ON, while item HUD only appear when needed. I think I can get the reason why they made compass disappear was to incite us to scan environment frequently.
You can change it in the settings.

If this sells really well...then that shows exclusivity isnt the issue for FF7 Rebirth weak sales.
Is fast food compared to a nuanced meal. Fans of ff7 will generally love the remakes dearly, but they are probably less attractive to someone who never played the original, and rebirth less to someone who hasn't played remake.
There’s a lot of fans who feel burned by Remake, too. Nomura and Co. just couldn’t stand to not mess with things in their typical way. They want to shove alternate realities/timelines/time travel/character version in EVERYTHING, but they’re not smart enough for it to be interesting instead of stupid.
When I found out about some spoilery things in Rebirth, I didn’t even open it. The Deluxe box sits unopened on my shelf, next to a platinumed Remake because I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared for that amount of effing stupid.
@@KK-fs8rm the timeline stuff is really not that bad it's been blown out of proportion. End of the day the story is the same, remove all the additions with the timelines (yes additions, NOT changes) the plot is still exactly the same as the OG. Heck 90% of rebirth is the same as the OG untill the very end, the last literally 2 hours in a 100 hour game it dabbles in the timeline stuff.
I just think the marketing sucked real bad for Rebirth. The official playstation CZcams channel was releasing Stellar Blade videos consistently close to release and even the controversy of the censorship helped market the game. Rebirth there was literally very little marketing besides 1 state of play.

Also, new censorship was revealed on the kunoichi outfit (skirt is less transparent and heavier). Anyone claiming the original censorship was removed is flat out lying.

I think the main premise of Stellar Blade 2 will revolve around EVE destroying Mother Sphere, thereby putting this world into the predicament posited by Nietche’s God is Dead.
It could explore the concept of people falling in love with their own chains and craving authoritarianism. Maybe Andro-Eidos could be fragmented into 2 major camps; one who is glad Mother Sphere is gone and one who is deeply unhappy with MS being gone. EVE might see no other choice but to fill that power vacuum by becoming some approximation of Mother Sphere.
The camp who are glad Mother Sphere is gone might oppose Eve because they see her as someone trying to rob them of their newfound anarchic and free society. The camp who mourn Mother Sphere’s loss might oppose EVE because they see her as a usurper and a pretender to the throne.
While the patch is great, I've noticed that the framerate dips a bit in certain zones now that previously ran buttery smooth. I'm not sure if I was unlucky or not.
Great news! I'm really curious about fixing nonplayable areas. I pretty much went over the whole game with a fine-tooth comb, and didn't find any of it's areas to be unplayable. If this means some random doors suddenly being able to be opened, hot damn. Or maybe it'll finally let me use the damaged device the sneaky dude dressed in green gave me in the alley by Sisters Junk. I'm on my third playthrough right now to get the last ending, what a perfect timing for a boss rush!

I'm definitely going to pick this one up for $30 used. I know everyone compares it to souls and for some, that's a selling point, but I've been playing souls games for 15 years and they're getting old and tired like CoD or Halo.
I played the game 3 times, and i can tell you this, its not a soul game, there's only one thing that is remotely souls like and that is the whole bone fire resting part, and that's it. Stellar Blade is about as much of a souls game as much as classic Megaman is a metroidvania. Game plays closer to bayonetta.
It's not really a souls game.
It's more akin to A hack n slash than souls. 75% of It's DNA is hack n slash, so id rather be have it labeled as such.
@@derpyguytheshygamer3283 Finally, people are actually telling me it's not a Souls-like. That term gets used so much nowadays it's become misleading. I'll still pick it up used, if you didn't know, local game shops get 90-100% of the profit from used game sales and only about 5% from new sales. I like collecting physical copies of video games, anything from NES to PS5. Hopefully they never revoke the license on the physical copies.
I love the game, I pasted it last week and on my second run but the music isn’t great, it only starts to pick up towards the end and it’s good really good, but not enough to say the sound track is great or killer. The updates are nice for sure and looking forward to my next ending hopefully I lll get all three endings.

I'm loving their support of this game and I'm excited for a sequel.
As good as this game is and I praise Shift Up, I'm going to pass on the gotcha game. I don't have the time, money or interest to invest in a micro-transaction playground.
I have only managed to open one of the many random code chests. I don’t even bother anymore. I don’t think the problem is the time limit. My problem is I can just barely tell which one is lit up. I have tried adjusting the game brightness, but the time it takes to figure out which one is lit just takes too long.
You're just too slow lol. I barely have any difficulty opening those chests. You just need fast reflex and good brain- hand coordination.
personally, i use my peripheral vision for those code chests. it takes too long trying to focus on the one icon that is lit up, so i just look at the whole thing and my eye automatically detects which one is lit up differently from the rest

Anyone who says the censoring isnt a big deal I would agree with you. However, if its not a big deal then theres no reason to do it in the first place right? No big deal right? It obviously was important enough to do it. But not important enough to the consumer?

Stellar blade works just like resident evil, but nobody complain about resident evil milion files and documents to understand the lore in a deep way, or even Elden ring and etc. This is not fair in certain level, they used files as a form to spread lore and mistery, but people can't read, i know, is hard LOL, and i'm not being silly, read is really a thing that people who play a game don't want to do, i know. But i don't regret, works too much like resident evil.
I love it this way. That’s why I like RE, Elden Ring and Stellar Blade that much.

I cannot do those random arrow chest, i tried and tried. They need to fix that. To auto open after fail if choose to turn on or give more time option. Thats the only thing i do not like. I have problems with these chest. I love the game and want more single-player stuff and just more. Its awesome game. I don’t like skipping chest so i quit for now. Maybe they will give an update

The story could use some serious proofreading and overhauling for sure.
More on key characters outside of data files. Definitely more on Tachy, Orcle’s leadership and relationship with the common citizens, more clarification on when certain events took place in a more general time line.
Definitely the weakest aspect of the game.

I havent got it yet i did not like the demo all that much its was pretty and i liked the character but the demos combat system i died way too much on easy mode even when i used the blocking it was not blocking haif of the time i might give it another go when the game comes down on price i do like Blood Rayne revamped one and two thought and starwars fallen order

I think honestly this game deserves game of the year but unfortunately I know final fantasy VII rebirth will win that award😒 while I am a huge final fantasy VII fan I still do not agree with final fantasy VII rebirth getting a game of the year award if that does happen final fantasy VII is put on such a high af pedestal that after the original game nothing can beat it not even final fantasy VII remake trilogy but I hope stellar blade wins goty at the game awards this year but I highly doubt it will

Those outfits look ugly af imo. And boss rush mode's reward looks mid too. The best news is that they didnt block the ability to downpatch so I can still play ng+ on 1.00
They need to take a page out of ff7 rebirth when it comes to side quest. The side quest were boring in this game. I found myself skipping a lot of the dialog. They need more interesting side quest for the next game. They also need to improve on puzzles some of the puzzles felt like it was from the PS2 era. Everything else was great
#freestellarblade - The petition is 90,000 plus. Don't allow developers to run their agendas on "you..." the consumer. If they allow the censorship then they should change rating to T for Teens. They promoted an uncensored rated M game for years now and flip flopped!!!! #cancelsony
