oh my god, seeing this video for some reason was like a memory, even though i'd never seen it before, it made me think of when i was young and watching fantasia, and while i was watching the paint spread out into amaziing shapes and colors, i was seeing colorful unicorns and pegasuses swimming in a lake of colors. its absolutely briliant.
@TheSnakThatSmilesBak wow, now that you mention it, i realize it made me think of fantasia too. i didn't even know what it was reminding me of, but that's definitely it
So how do you get the extra on the floor to come up and stay part of the piece? Is it in such a mass that on a clean floor you simply gently pry and pop it up?
@RaveLikeDave Wow good work with that OMG on an hf-20??? VERY impressive. The 5D, I've never had the pleasure of using one myself, but i've heard conflicting reviews. Some love it, some hate on it......lemme know your take when the project is up!!
@RaveLikeDave House paint? That'd be the easiest way to get the variety of colors and tones. Plus more economical than artist's acrylic.... And you'd get that nice gloss. I really love this art!
Hey Dave, congrats on the feature! These remind me of some psychedelic posters i had as a kid. Oddly enough i could tell this was your video work without seeing the credit at the end. What sort of camera did you use? 7d or something? ANYWAY awesome editing and photography ;)
i call this beautiful art. you see something in between the colors that all match and contrasts each other. just beautiful. and what type of paint did you use? i'd like to try this (:
@EASpaceJam it cannot be acrylic because of the way the colors are able to separate themselves from the other colors without even overlapping. check out at 1:25 how the white drips down. And i just want to say that I hope you are right and I am wrong, because this is something i would love to try to do a version of in my paintings.
to those who think this is not art: this is NOT easy: firstly, one would have to choose which colors to use and in what order; secondly, what kind of paint to use - too thick and it won't run, too thin and it will just wash together or spread out too thin; thirdly how much to pour on each layer and how you pour it - notice how careful they are, not just dumping it on all at once, especially towards the end; oh and I also forgot about the boxes, the shape/height of which determine how the paint moves; I'm sure there are other details, this is just what came to my mind watching the videos
Its acrylic and you have to mix it with a type of paint medium and stir it in until all the colors are the same consistency which would be the consistency of a generic pancake surup. Where it flows off you stir stick in a constant flow and still have a nice lil layer on your stirrer when holding it parallel. Anyway...its not near as easy as it looks trust me. Good luck.
@monlaaslur as, monlaaslur, I want too to know what kind of paint do you use. this is just like a colour-wonderland and I need to know and try it myself. so pretty please enlight me.
This is laZy & ridiculous, not to mention a waste of time & paiNt I can paint hundreds of the exact same thing but with a fraction of paint and time ~xX
wow, ke chevereeeeeeee... bravazoooooooooo........

@MrArtarjun On Holton's site, he lists the materials used in these pieces as "plywood and acrylic"
Magnifique
@LeeMIlby Thanks Lee! i used an HPX-170 with a 35mm adapter, and a crappy little HF-20. the next one im doing is on a 5d MK II!
AWESOME!!!!
you guys could maybe try some different objects to pour the paint on, like big balls or triangles...:D
Mmm bravo !
I like the one in the background have a video for that? and the tower of paint is really cool worth all the paint and time
@RaveLikeDave wow what a wonderful answer! thanks!!
Art, materials, science, gravity...
Like the process more~

Acrylic over wood. The artist's name is Holton Rower out of New York and the technique is called "Pour". You can look the rest up on your own.
I'm loving the music! where it is from?
@delshayDiCamilliano Google Holton Rower's site, click Gallery, then Sculpture, then Money, and prepare to be humbled. This really is brilliant art.

Thank you for your reply, but taking a wild guess, this will probably be a 'nope' too.. last time I used that word I was six.. :o)
@JobAbednego On Rower's website it says he's used acrylic

amazing work wanted to knw wat are these paints called ?? are they acrylics ??
SANJANA ASHER
They are acrylics with added flow medium and other liquids to obtain a particular thickness.
is there a website for these artists?
Well the reply to the question apparently was 'nope', so we'll have to keep guessing.
The paint is enamel. I could almost smell the fumes lol
those pants are knarly
im guessing its some sort of plastic resin?
I did this to my ex-girlfriends car once, wasn't as artsy. but definitely a timeless piece.
I think he used PVA glue mixed with colour paint and a little water.
@monlaaslur as, monlaaslur, I want too to know what kind of paint do you use. this is just like a colour-wonderland and I need to know and try it myself. so pretty please enlight me.
Now dry!
@EASpaceJam Colored Glue...
@RaveLikeDave I'm guessing melted crayons.
@EASpaceJam nope
looks eatable
hey the girl thats doing the paint pouring. whats your number?
its prolly actually really think paint, because this is time-lapsed.
@RaveLikeDave Then what?
And then someone accidentally steps in it.
My god, why is everyone in the vid so serious?
Can you do that on a naked woman's body?
@bingbingmmMapple
this is an insult to the artist, as if drugs made you more creative!
Waste of paint
Waste of paint...
I came here from stumbleupon just to dislike this
This is laZy & ridiculous, not to mention a waste of time & paiNt
