I owned one of these for a few years , it had a 305 V8 in it and was really great on gas . we enjoyed it for many reasons and had a great time at the drive ins with it . I was ready to paint it , and WHAM . I was t-boned by a truck and it was destroyed . so it was parted out and went to the crusher . I still miss having it ! . Ray in Pa.
I once had a '77 G20 Gladiator conversion, the "Shaggin Wagon" in the '90s. Enjoyed many fishing, camping trips, and concerts in it with my old girlfriend Sue. Good times.
You did more wagon, than shaggin, eh, Mr Freeze? If that is even your real name. The boy named Sue can back up your trips and the concerts? I hope so for your sake. We have had alot of false reports of fishing around here.
I'm not surprised you found this old van is such great shape. My 84 has 340,000 on it and is still going strong. I believe these old vans are the best thing GM ever built.
I had one just like that one, when I lived in FL 10yrs ago bought mine the same way $500 truck $200 junkyard Engine, turned out to be a fresh rebuild to Lucky Me! I had 7yrs running the hell outta that truck, & 2 cases of Chinesse white paint $ 25 gotta love the old ones easy to fix & Cheap!
We had a old co worker that was gonna sell his 94 mustang for scrap. we bought it off him for $273 bucks. No body damage, nothing wrong with it just needed some maintenance. A/C worked, heater worked, cruise worked everything worked. Not my taste for a vehicle but at 273 we could not turn it down. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for saving the van. I am a big van fan especially 70s Dodge. I found a nice 64 Greenbrier van runs and drives for a decent price but flat broke.
Better that the chain is to long then to short. Again if you do not want to remark your equipment that is your choice. I think I would lable s few of them just as a reminder. I wonder why no one before you hooked up the conecting rod for the sliding door? You are so funny some times. You make a lot of us lol. Thank you for making us lol. Be safe and take care Jeff.
Good one Jeff. I have my grandfather's 1987 G20 van, ugly but shes a runner! Roof is about rusted through, but bodywork is always repairable...Spray can white paint works well too...Haha!
Great video Jeff! I work a lot of old salvage rigs and I save the old oil from my own rigs that do get regular oil changes whether they need it or not to add to or top off these salvage rigs rather than using my money to put oil in them for diagnostic work. Just a hint from one old knuckle buster to another. Keep email on the road brother!
with an engine like that, the fact it doesn't have any oil in it is a good thing, old chevys always leak. If it didn't leak I'd probably walk away unless i saw legit paperwork on it lol
I have a 94 mustang cobra 79000 miles. Been sitting for 10 years, hasn't turned over for 2 years. Wondering whats the best oil and how much to put in the cylinders and lifters before cranking.?
hey on some of thease older trucks some had 2 shifters like 2 seperate shifters whats the secound one for? the older semis had them so what was the secound one for
If that was in my neck of the woods,(PA.), you could have loaded it on the trailer with a dust pan and brush, 'cuz that would be all that's left of it, rust. Ha, Ha. I take it, you live where they don't salt the roads in winter. I didn't know you could rejuvenate a battery that way. Good to know. Thanks.
Hey, nice video been following for a while. Ty. I have a 1980 c10 van. Yes thats right. They call it a g10. Badges say c10. Anyhow. Van ran good. 250 straight 6 key in dash. Just wont crank. Battery good, fuses good, no power to dash, lighs burn. Changed coil and ignition switch.tumbler and all Any help woulld be great. Ty
Generally a fusible link, but your info is a bit unclear. If it doesn't crank, then why change the coil? The tumbler has nothing to do with the electrical part. Check if power is being supplied to the switch located on the base of the steering column. If there is no power on any pin, then look for a blown fusible link. Usually located where the battery cable attaches to the starter. If there is no power TO the ignition switch, then it won't be anywhere else either. A fusible link just looks like a large wire. If you feel it, the insulation is softer than a regular wire. If you squeeze and twist a bit, it may even feel like there is nothing inside. If it has blown, then there IS nothing inside!
It's not so much that it's a nice classic vehicle to restore as it is there are people (myself included) that enjoy reviving just about anything and keeping old stuff going rather than just buying new
boredagain5 yes sir that's what it's all about saving them from the crusher machine I just found a 1979 Chevy Beauville g20 and she's been awesome to cruise the roads in after sitting since 1994
If your not going to pull the spark plugs to drench the cylinders with oil, you should at least disable the coil wire and roll the engine over a bit to lube the top end after sitting that long. Major damage to be had firing up an engine dried out for eight years. no labor involved in disabling the ignition.

You are hilarious! It's good to see classic vehicles getting saved from the crusher! Nice looking old van too!
Looks like a great body on that thing. In the 70's,…vans were really sawed after as a home on wheels. I miss those days.
You know, your blue GMC is my dream truck. Love your videos, keep it up!
im diggin that aggressive ass tire on the trailer lol
I always enjoy the background sounds of your farmyard friends.
Nice! I love these vans, My dad had one when I was a kid.
Can't wait for the old start cold start.
Enjoy your videos. I am an old retired master mechanic. Also like the music you play on the video.

Idk what it is but these types of videos are so entertaining

Sweet van, I have have a 1977 Chevy too.
I've got a 85 Chevy navy fire rescue van I love it
That Van Is Sweet!
Your my hero ! Need part two already :)
Thanks for saving the van. I am a big van fan especially 70s Dodge. I found a nice 64 Greenbrier van runs and drives for a decent price but flat broke.
Very straight for an old van. How many times I watched old cop shows with one of these vans in it.
Happy to see that being saved. I just love chevy vans.
QUÉ PRECIOSURA! Gracias por salvarla! Argentina aplaude.
love the rhyme ;)
A lot of them ol' vans in that era had 4 bolt main engines with a steel crankshaft, great truck engines....
Great video
ran when i parked it famous last words...
I can't believe how nice a shape that van is in. We heavily salt the roads here and a '77 van would be more rust than metal.
Y'all need a winch!

This old van?Hey why not. You had This old bus too. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Good one Jeff. I have my grandfather's 1987 G20 van, ugly but shes a runner! Roof is about rusted through, but bodywork is always repairable...Spray can white paint works well too...Haha!
Bless you for saving these old rigs!
Thanks for posting your vodeo is very inspirational i would like to see a part three.
Cant wait to see the rest, i love vids like this, i could watch this kinda stuff all day
Really enjoy your videos, thanks.
little bit of jerry reed came over there!! god bless!
I really want an early 70's chev van, might even consider turning a motor home back into a van
love the old vans , and 4x4 its a Hole Another World. for van loverssss
Can't wait to hear it run, if it does run of course.
I would make an old school conversion van out of that , heart shaped windows in the sides and all lol
There's a classic pair of Chevys!
Yay more classic vans please!
Great video Jeff! Love that Kind!! and the video is Great too Jeff
I love, quickly quickly following
we all need to do our part to save these ole trucks cars and whatevers
lol.. love the beginning.. you're trying to do the intro and the van is being winched out from under you.. lol
Made my day seeing a new video from you in my sub box!
KUTGW looking forward to next episode!
I loved the way you fixed the sliding door!
What does the exhaust crossover butterfly do anyway..?
good save i wish i still had my 75 chevy sportvan g30
these videos are awesome
That van reminds me of the show "Who's The Boss"
Great vid!!
What would be cool is to cut the side paneling away, hinge it and make it so it opens, and put like Chief said, a great mobile tool chest.
ik keep lovin your videos nice
dang did it start.dont make us wait to long
Enjoyed it !!
Looks pretty clean, a shame someone would just consider that scrap.
Lower it a bit, give a 70s love machine paint job and sell it to a hipster for $6000 - $10000.
with an engine like that, the fact it doesn't have any oil in it is a good thing, old chevys always leak. If it didn't leak I'd probably walk away unless i saw legit paperwork on it lol
At 1:25 old school winching talk about a good workout
why people want to put old vehicles to scrap because they are just old? they will last longer than modern when just good maintaned
Exactly mate but these modern car lovers will never learn.
i own a 77 chevy van 4by4 with 327 corvette engine, 400 trany, needs resoration, how should i go about it being broke?? slowly i guess...
You need a winch on that trailer. :)
I want one so bad !!! Hard to find tho
You should be on TV.
I have a 94 mustang cobra 79000 miles. Been sitting for 10 years, hasn't turned over for 2 years. Wondering whats the best oil and how much to put in the cylinders and lifters before cranking.?
Looks like the Red&green show van.
hey on some of thease older trucks some had 2 shifters like 2 seperate shifters whats the secound one for?
the older semis had them so what was the secound one for
I'd love to find a G20 like that around here - my old short-bed S10 just doesn't haul like I need it to.
I wish I could find a good classic round here. Every one breaks them down for parts.
Thanks for the mornin' enjoyment. Looking forward to Part 2. Did ya get the passenger door open?? Rog
Thanks.
yup they are worth saving some times
great video.. what motor and trans is that?? 350 v8 and a 700r? or 200c? thm400?
I had a vandura boy I miss that van, not the gas mileage.
G? I have never heard of that?
theres tons of those old vans here in canada
i dont wish i had your money i just wish i could do half the stuff you do.
Where did u get the bed liner at for your 69' GMC?
weird i found this at my cousins wedding i looked in side and found a book and typed the address on youtube and i get this video
I had a book in there?
Where did u find this van and when is part two comming
Do have any cheap up trucks that run and still drive for sale
That's the case here in Kansas too.
Looks like ol' blue needs some new leaf springs in the back...
Right there's a good reason to keep a gallon of waste oil around. Saves dumping new oil into an engine that might be no good.

Hey jeff, idk if you have a tractor supply around you, but they've got a 3k lb winch for $119. It should work for loading a vehicle on a trailer.
Hey if you guys still have this van I’ve got all the aluminum body trim if you’re interested in it
ah the old fall back if it dose not work after gentle persuasion give it a swift kick!!
Hey Jeff, Is that your fireman badge you wear on your cap?
***** Dad's badge. He was a volunteer for 26 years
How did you end up in Oregon? That drawl is from a southern state.
I certainly wouldn't shed a tear if this thing went to the crusher. Oh well I guess there is a niche market for just about anything.
It's not so much that it's a nice classic vehicle to restore as it is there are people (myself included) that enjoy reviving just about anything and keeping old stuff going rather than just buying new

ronbusa37 Channel I have a ‘74 G20 Beauville, and I feel the same way.

dry start after 8 years 2 cycle fuel
Try pulling plugs on a awd astro or f body, my knuckles are scarred.
yota gang!!!!
Knew you'd like this one Chief. I'm too cheap to throw some cherry bombs on it, though!
ha i noticed that too!
