      Hephaestus wasn't *that* unloved.....He had his purpose of being the blacksmith of the Gods which is more than important!?!?
      But Ares was *THE* No.1 "Family Disappointment" and was shunned even by Zeus whereas for Hephaestus,Zeus himself was the one who arranged his marriage with Aphrodithe (Not that it made him feel any better but giving him a unfaithful wife!?!😡😒)

    1. his wife cheated
    2. the affair partner was his own brother
    3. all the other gods found it hilarious
    4. although the marriage was arranged by Zeus, it was a good marriage until she god lonely because of him fulfilling his duties (work)

    After that whole affair, Hephaestus and Aphrodite divorced. Hephaestus was repaid by Zeus for Aphrodite's dowry and Ares paid an adulterer's fine for his offense. He later married Aglaea, one of the Charites or "Graces". She's a faithful wife and they have 4 daughters together.

      When Aphrodite submitted to Zeus who was the lord, she would expect that he sort her good in the relationhsip and not marry her off to someone where both don't comment each other.
      The mistake from Aphrodite was that she should have divorced or not accepted the marriage.

      To be fair, he was one of the most useless gods. Despite being the god of war, Athena was a far better strategist and Hercules, a far better warrior.
      The Roman God Mars was the God of War we all wanted to see. In true Roman style, he's the embodiment of a veteran soldier and a master strategist

    I heard Harmonia is actually the goddess of harmony which is where the word came from. Quite ironic when you consider her parents Ares and Aphrodite are two of the least harmonious gods in the Olympian pantheon. One is literally the embodiment of war and conflict while the other is responsible for jealously and lover's quarrel.

    The way u tell this myth is cool. When Aphrodite fell in love with Ares it’s like a symbolic way of saying how they’re like cause and effect/compliment each other. The effects of love can lead to reckless and almost brutish behavior. She was attracted to him Bc she saw herself in him almost. She knew love was the same way/lead to the same effects.

    To all the people out there who feel bad for Hephaestus because of Aphrodite cheating on him with Ares, don't be sad, he did get a happy ending. Apparently Hephaestus got tired of her and divorced her, then he got remarried to a minor god named Aglaea. Aglaea is another goddess of beauty as she is one of the trio of minor goddesses known as the Gratiae or Charities.

    Actually, Aphrodite and Hephaestus got married when Hephaestus gave Hera a golden throne that was actually a trap. Hephaestus then said that he would only deactivate the trap if he married Aphrodite.

      @@moksh1266 there are two versions of the story. One where Aphrodite was wronged by Zeus. He did make her marry without her consent. Another version it was hephaestus, himself that asked for Aphrodite’s hand in marriage in exchange for letting his mom go. He had Hera forced on a chair as revenge for kicking him off Olympus as a baby.
      Ancient Greece sure was interesting

    Aphrodite has been long time lovers with Ares even before the marriage. Heph also just married her because she was gifted to him.
    Considering most of their children are with each other (ares and aphrodite's) and this trap barely fazed the though, it seemed that Zeus actually set Heph for failure from the start by giving him an unsuitable wife.

    Like how Hephaestus was rejected by the gods (even though he was a demi) because Hephaestus was disabled so he got zeus back by sending a "gift" to him of a throne that once you sit you can't leave. (Kind of ironic actually) And that he gave away Aphrodite to be released. She was into the god of war (Ares) before she was forced to marry the other man.
    There's other things but I'll leave it be, Nonetheless still a decent story.

    I don't know if a remember this correctly but ... Hephaestus was in love with Aphrodite and asked Zeus, as a reward for the weapons he created for his father, to compel the goddess of love to marry him. Aphrodite was against it, since she was so self absorbed and only wished to marry someone equal with her looks - she was very disappointed with Hephaestus being her husband since he wasn't handsome at all- even his mother, Hera, despised him.

    Love how it's sort of glossed over with a love theme when 1. Aphrodite was not happy about this union as she had wanted to marry Ares, she was either given to Hephaestus as prize or he blackmailed them into giving her. And 2. She wasn't lonely or sad about his absence, she never even wanted Hephaestus.
    I just dislike how many try to make a villain of Aphrodite by making a victim of Hephaestus.

      The word "titan" is a term given to Kronos and his brothers by their father after they castrated him. It means "strainer" for they had overstepped their bounds. It does NOT denote a separate race from the gods.
      The version most attribute to Aphrodite's birth is the one where she was born from Ouranos' severed genitals. There is another version where she is born from Zeus and the sea goddess Dione.

    Man Kinds feel like ares and Hephestus coulda been bros considering ones the crafter and the other wields the weapons forged. That would be a pretty cool fan story in its own right.
