Great looking truck. I looked at a BigHorn dually a couple of years ago. I definitely like the 2019 and newer Ram trucks. For now I am enjoying my 3500 HD 4x4 SRW 2018 GMC. I’m a gm guy and I thought the bumper steps were a gimmick when they first came out. Once you own a truck with them and use a truck with out them, you realize they are useful. The bed side steps on the gm HD’s is a must in my opinion and I’m 6’3”.
Not only on back but I have a 2020 and they have them on front of bed too......how someone didn't do this 20yrs ago is beyond me... fleetsides had them, but bed was useless
They really are useful. They look kind of weird if not ugly but I wouldn't want a work truck without them because it makes the bed much easier to access. I wish stepside trucks would come back even though people say they are ugly.

Haha, relatable. My mother had to use a stool to get into my father's 2015 Silverado 2500 HD because it was so high and had no running boards. They bought and installed hoop steps on it so no more stool now.
I bought a 2022 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 just last week, and I don't tow anything with it. Hell I don't even drive it every day. I've been driving my jeep to work this week. We're thinking about buying a camper, but even if we don't, I still love the truck! And I don't regret buying it one bit!

Great truck 👍. I have a Ram 1500 Big Horn North Edition that I bought in November. I went with the 5.7 Hemi. It has a 1 inch factory lift so the bed is high. My solution is to sit on the tailgate and spin myself around. I’m 53 and not as limber as I used to be and 6’2 250 lbs. The height doesn’t really bother me yet. So far I can’t really think of anything I don’t like about my truck. Mine has 4 auto and a rear locker which are features I wanted. I absolutely love the Ram and I do plan on keeping her a long time.
I have same truck but instead of north I have offroad package (basically same thing with lift). The retractable bed step works amazing if you don't have
Great video. Also enjoyed your one on the buying process. I drove Jeep GC’s for 25 years, but after driving Ram pickups for rentals the past several years decided to buy my first truck. Always wanted a Cummins diesel, so after months of searching coast to coast I found the 3500 Longhorn LTD HO Cummins I wanted at a dealer in NC. At the time many dealers were charging a 6-10K market adjustment, I was able to get it for less than sticker price. I use it as a daily driver and to drive north from FL several times per year for business. I understand your comment on comfort. After driving 12 hours straight through I feel like I just drove to the store & back. Haven’t done any towing yet, but looking for a fifth wheel hitch & a RV to start. Still running my own business but plan to start doing some travel in near future. Will probably rent the 5th wheel for the first several trips. Keep up the great work. Love all the videos you guys do & look forward to more!

I like the way dad reviews better ! 👍 A real no BS approach to all the ridiculous options and modes on trucks now The tailgate step on my 20 F150 is one of my favorite options. Lol
Really nice truck. Thanks for the update on it. I have a 2015 Ram 2500 HD diesel. Love mine as well. I have the corner step by bed step. Works great for me. I think it’s likely the supplier for the Ram bed step, only lower cost then Ram version.
Really nice review! We have the 3500 dually and love it, great truck. We have a heavy camper that we haul with it....if you're not going to be hauling anything heavy, just stick with the half tons.
Great video, well done. Well Stephen your dad sure knows how to present a truck video... It was entertaining e informative. Love the father - son approach, Roman and Tommyb got nothing on you two! Lol
I have a 2020 Ram 3500 Tradesman with the HO Cummins and the Aisen transmission. I use it for work and have absolutely loved the truck so far. The only gripe I've had was the fuel tank capacity. Has to add a 80 gallon fuel tank to offset the stock 32 gallon tank. Poor truck already has 85k miles on it and I haven't even had it for a year
Amp research have a bed step that is similar to the mopar one that tucks up and down on the side of the bed, they are around $240-$260 and right now they have a $40 rebate when you buy one, I’m planning on getting on myself.
Great review. I would use the block heater despite not "needing" it simply because it makes starting easier on the cold engine. In addition, the heater will blow hot air much sooner on a cold morning. Love the Cummins powered Rams.
Agreed. I plug , my Ram in when the temps start to get into the 30s (F) and below. Something about starting up your rig and she’s already at 110’ coolant and oil temps.
I'm in New York...Long Island where it doesn't get nearly as cold as Canada but still plug in my 18 Ram every night. I bought a wireless wifi for the outlet and will turn on the heater an hour or two before needing to drive. It can be programmed to turn on a few hours before the morning drive. Save electric and its better for the engine.
I used to live in Alaska. In addition to using the block heater, a battery blanket heater on one of the batteries and a silicone pad heater on the pan of the transmission really help when it gets 0 or below.
From a 17' Ram 2500 owner with the 6.7L in Fort McMurray - close up the flaps on the cold front between -10 and -15degC. Great choice of truck, great video! Keep it up! 👍🏼
I love the review and the truck itself, I own a 2018 RAM 1500 Big Horn yeah, it is smooth and probably a nicer and smoother ride compared to the 3/4 and 1 ton's but at the same time, I love this truck of yours, the color, the over all look, and just the truck itself. I also like how you are not one sided, you talk about your likes and dislikes.
Good Review. I have almost the same truck only mine is the gray color night edition. To comment on an easier way to utilize the truck bed. For my truck, I basically got the same step bars that you have but I got the longer ones that go from wheel to wheel. Because our wheels are black, it blends in nicely. I want to say it cost like an extra 50 bucks total for the longer ones but what a difference that has made in being able to use that step on both sides to get into the truck box up next to the back glass. The second thing I did was I got a truck stepladder that straps to the inside of your tailgate. So when you drop your tailgate and you want to get into your truck bed, the ladder folds left onto the ground. It’s only about an inch thick and if I remember correctly it can hold a lot of weight. It’s so easy to use that it only takes 5 seconds to fold it into place and set it and then my five-year-old uses it to climb into the truck box. That ladder cost me 150 bucks on Amazon. My only pet peeve is how rough the ride is when I don’t have my trailer back there. These trucks ride better when something heavy is attached to them. But I do love the truck though my next one will have the ram air Suspension system to better smooth out the ride when there’s no load on the back.
Happy new year, guys ! Nice truck and good review 👍🏻 I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier SV , it’s my daily driving. Very reliable i used for carrying furniture and Breads 😂and i love it!
I leave the tailgate up then grab onto it and climb on the lower part of the bumper then the higher part then throw a leg over the tailgate.... not perfect but it works...great review btw
I do plug mine in when it's a little extra cold during the winter, just to make it blow hot air in the cab a bit faster because the cummins engines are super cool engines so just sitting and warming up it can take a bit if it wasn't plugged in :) I love the height of the ram 4x4 trucks it's a perfect height from factory :) ❤️
Nice ride, color is great! I just traded in my Silverado ( 30,000 mi) for a new ram. They stepped up the truck game so much that if I was going to make a payment, I wanted the best return for my hard earned money. No comparison. You guys rock.. keep em comin.
Your right about towing. Ya want to be comfortable. No one wants the truck to be handled by the trailer, want the truck to handle the trailer. Ya know, Don’t let the tail wag the dog....lol. Great video as always guys. Happy new year guys.
Very good review. I enjoyed it completely. I have an older one with nearly the same options. I like mine and am not looking to trade it in. Mine has 121K miles and still absolutely no problems. 👍👍👍
Accurate review. I have had a 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins Laramie since new. It’s been great. Only problem is getting in the bed. It’s too tall for an old man to crawl in without a ladder.
i just found your channel on CZcams. I like your content overall. You have made some very good points. I bought a 2018 Ram 2500 and ran into an issue with the payload capacity. I had the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep package as I saw you have. Check your payload capacity on your driver's door pillar. Chances are that the pin weight of your 5th wheel will exceed the payload capacity. You would not have a problem with towed weight as with a conventional travel or utility trailer. The problem is the 2500 doesn't have the payload capacity (trailer pin weight, cargo, including the weight of the 5th wheel hitch, passengers, fuel, etc.) to safely tow any but the lightest 5th wheel.
David Hi I enjoyed your review. I have a 2019 Ram 2500 Crew Cab, 4WD, Long bed with the Cummins engine. I love the truck. I went form a 2005 F350 to the Ram and was blown away. I have two things I wanted to mention. I'm 75 and my way of dealing with the high bed is to step on the rear wheel and pull my self up, it works. The other is towing and weight. The problem withe a 3/4 ton is if you have a diesel and 4WD they add a lot of weight and all that weight comes off the payload. I have a 5th wheel that is around 10,000 lb loaded and was shocked to find I was close to overweight.
Me too. Job ONE though is getting an aftermarket fifth wheel that fits the factory setup. I didn't want the one that RAM sells - want something a little more sophisticated.
Thanks for the review, thinking strongly about up grading from my 18 tundra an a larger travel trailer, to something with more gusto. Although Ive been a tundra loyalist, owning 4 tundra's, the New 2022 gonna be a V6, the little engine that could.
Thanks for the review it was very knowledgeable . I just purchased a 2500 Longhorn Limited diesel I am switching from Ford F-250 been a Ford guy for 25 years . I like a lot of the options that Ram offers . I will be towing a 5th wheel with it . Will not be getting it until Aug of 22 hopefully I will like it .
I thoroughly enjoyed your review! I own a 1500 lonestar (texas bighorn) and love it! Although I cannot afford the 2500 just yet, the Cummins with night edition with a few added features would make it my dream; your truck is everything 🤣. With prices skyrocketing I have no intentions of getting anything for a while. Even then when it comes time to, I would honestly debate looking at used--depending on pricing and interest. I had an issue with an oil leakage 5 months ago that caused my truck to be in the shop for half a year. Even when I tried to trade in with amazing trade-in value, even the basic models were ridiculous.
I keep a small step ladder in the bed to get it and out. I set it back of my fifth wheel hitch near the tailgate and it’s much safer than the GM step on the bumper and I think it’s safer to have my hand on the bed when I step up into the bed versus Ford who has the mid step. Still a great review!
I've always had a 3/4 ton lifted with big tires, but now only have a 2wd ranger. Boy it's nice loading and unloading the bed! Lol. Alot of trade offs too but she has nearly 500,000 miles so not too many complaints especially when it comes to filling the tank! Lol. Either way that is one nice looking ram!
I had a 2014 RAM 3500 Laramie with the 6.7 diesel. I loved the truck but recalls were killing me. I live 60 miles from the nearest dealer and constantly taking it in and finding rides back and forth just wore me down. When I traded it in it still had 4 recalls pending waiting for parts. Hoping your not having the same issue.
Great owner review of their own truck! I've got an 08 F250 crew cab, shortbox, 4x4 with powerstroke. It has a 4x4 auto mode, I hate it because it runs off of a vacuum system, so engagement isn't always smooth in auto mode. I wish it was the 6 speed manual instead of 5 speed auto. Aside from those items, I love the truck and its capabilities.
I have an 04 f250. Great truck for its age! Always something to fix! Be nice to own a new truck like that , but 80000 to 90000 is a little steep for me . Keep up the great video's. Thanks
FYI: The truck bed corner step is a aftermarket part that the OEM's purchase in bulk and sell. I did a quick Google search and the first one to pop up was a little over US$200. Doing a little more looking I found Bestop and AMP Research make them. I don't believe GM offers them; but RAM, Toyota, Nissan, and Ford do offer them.
A small aluminium 2 step for $30 is better than anything the manufacturer offers. You can move it around the entire truck and use it for other locations, like camper, roof racks, washing, looking under the hood, etc.
Same height as you. WE are both getting up their age wise! Totally agree on two points| Height Bed access/ exit safety concern at our age ! As you said we ARE NOT 20 any more! A step stool a must! If I remember correctly you could get handle from ram that flipped up to assist bed entry/exit ? What up sets me with ram is aux switches ! Why are they not factory installed for the POWER WAGON ? Would make it a lot easier for light bars/spot lights install ! Thinking change of tire brand. Your February tire review will be most help full.
Team Truck King, I assume you are strictly tracking fuel consumption so you might as well include those numbers in your periodic reports. This overview also reminded me that once upon a time cars were just as customizable as today's pickups. I hope the idea of catering to specific consumer choice does not evaporate for truck buyers the way it has for car buyers.
What I like about this review is that it's from the perspective of an owner, who really seems to look at the practical pros and cons of the truck. It doesn't sound like a RAM brochure, which I can get at any Dodge/RAM dealer.

Good points - cold starts are hard on components.
Cold is hard on diesels in general so I'd definitely get it for a diesel one.
I have a 2104 Ram 2500 Cummins with 150K miles on it. I pull a 38 foot long 5th wheel camper with it and it handles the camper very well.
From a 17' Ram 2500 owner with the 6.7L in Fort McMurray - close up the flaps on the cold front between -10 and -15degC. Great choice of truck, great video! Keep it up! 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing Salute to the Mac!
Well done video. Appreciate your hard work.
Thanks for watching
I love the review and the truck itself, I own a 2018 RAM 1500 Big Horn yeah, it is smooth and probably a nicer and smoother ride compared to the 3/4 and 1 ton's but at the same time, I love this truck of yours, the color, the over all look, and just the truck itself. I also like how you are not one sided, you talk about your likes and dislikes.
Great video. Thank you so much for the great info!
You bet!
great looking night edition! i have a 2017 1500 night edition
and love it
Good Review.
Hahaha! So funny we had the same step in the back for my Mother-in-law. Finally got her some AMPS.
Happy new year, guys ! Nice truck and good review 👍🏻 I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier SV , it’s my daily driving. Very reliable i used for carrying furniture and Breads 😂and i love it!
Thanks for sharing!
Looking at something just like this. Great looking truck.
Very nice presentation, thanks for sharing.
Good Afternoon King Dad!!☺
I have the same truck and I really like the way the specs are on them , they tore great and you don’t feel like you are driving a tonka truck
I just purchased the 2022 yesterday. So far I love it. I do need a step to get in the back bed.
You got that right!
That thing is nice truck king!
Objective and concise 👍
Let’s get TK to 100k subs by 2022, i.e., tell everyone you know.
Nice and thorough, Thanks
Nice truck I love my 18 Laramie Cummins , great looking tires on yours.
No clue why I subscribed, but I did. Truck is awesome :)
Awesome reviews! i don't have the cash for these vehicles but great reviews if i ever had to buy one!
Wow. You're great at this. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Very good review. I enjoyed it completely. I have an older one with nearly the same options. I like mine and am not looking to trade it in. Mine has 121K miles and still absolutely no problems. 👍👍👍
That's good to hear.
I agree - was a little surprised at the payload. I'll work with it.
Super review. You picked a great truck. 👍
Thanks 👍
I’ve had that Trifecta cover and love it also. You also make a lot of great real world comments.
Thank you kindly!
Good advice - check the door sticker.
Looking forward to seeing the 5th wheel video and hearing about rear suspension performance, etc...
This is real review, thanks.
You bet
Thanks for the review it was very knowledgeable . I just purchased a 2500 Longhorn Limited diesel I am switching from Ford F-250 been a Ford guy for 25 years . I like a lot of the options that Ram offers . I will be towing a 5th wheel with it . Will not be getting it until Aug of 22 hopefully I will like it .
I put retractable side steps (auto retractable)along with a rear bed step both Amp Research Products. Work very well.
Awesome looking truck
I keep a small step ladder in the bed to get it and out. I set it back of my fifth wheel hitch near the tailgate and it’s much safer than the GM step on the bumper and I think it’s safer to have my hand on the bed when I step up into the bed versus Ford who has the mid step. Still a great review!
Nice I got 2018 ecodiesel Laramie I love it I take it to family camping pulling 5000lbs trailer trailer and it does the job
Thanks
An F250 with auto-4x4 mode? Sure…
You are correct - that's what I did, plus helps get my mother in and out of the truck
Same height as you.
WE are both getting up their age wise!
Totally agree on two points|
Height
Bed access/ exit safety concern at our age !
Love the dad's review. In-depth and funny. Great job!
Thanks so much!
I will report fuel consumption - and as far as customization, don't worry the OEMs will continue to offer more and more ways to make a truck your own.
Got one, love it!
That Ram 2500 must be huge if it can fit a 2022 Tundra in the driver’s seat.
Jk jk. Love your vids. And your stache. Thanks for the time and effort.
The Rambox is life changing
