Love the cinematography!! 💯 So nice...
Nahre Sol what?! A piano player watching guitar stuff? Your piano skills is on another level. Love your videos😍 Also can’t wait for your next IG LIVE
I dont even have a reverb pedal and I'm watching this
truth and common sense warrior it’s huge too lol
I’ve tried probably 6 different reverbs including having multiple pedals that focus on different types of reverb and while they sound great, none of them come close to the versatility or depth of the strymon.
@@luketanner7638 Have you tried the boss dd-200 or dd-500?
@@joeymorse365 Those are Delay Pedals.
source audio ventris. two dsp with 56-bit processing each. who cares about 10 yrs old big sky?
Dig the track at the beginning man. Explosions in the sky vibes
I ask, no, I DEMAND the full version of this track! The first seconds I heard it, so sweet memories that never happened to me, hit me so hard.. Sitting by the fireplace in my house, it's raining outside, beautiful blonde wife and 3 kids are with me.. We are happy, I'm playing guitar, we're drinking hot chocolate.
Yeah was that first round of reverb big sky as well? Just that huge swell.
The poetic approach in the intro, the high quality images and music its awesome! So original and beautiful. Thanks!!
I love how the dude was ready to jump out of his seat, that passion is contagious. Keep up the good work! :)
This is one of the most useful and BS free pedal videos I've ever seen. Thank You!
Damn man, I've been playing guitar for 50 some years and it never ceases to amaze me how much I learned from watching your videos! I appreciate you man and I think you're playing is next level!
That intro, that sound... oh my gawd! That was so beautiful
Your videos keep getting better and better. Inspiring. Keep going, Rhett!
Great Video Rhett, nice to watch someone that knows how to actually use the pedal and demonstrate it well.
Great discussion on how to get a sweet reverb without it wetting it too much... pre-delay is definitely a key to that... still learning about the other parameters
That intro song is amazing Rhett!
Excellent videography and music! Loving the intro. Had to like before I even made it into the actual video!
A great thing with the BigSky & TimeLine (and probably Mobius) which is useful when wanting to recreate a patch is if you change anything the preset button will change its color to red and when changed back it turns green again. Yoy could go through all knobs like that to see what settings you dialed in! :) great video!
Which one is the button to switch between presets?
Great vid Rhett, love the way you demo stuff. Learned a bunch. But that intro track....damn. So good.
An evocative and beautiful video on many levels Rhett. You’re an artist..
I just dialed in the first 3, so good, exactly what I have been wanted thank you!!!
That intro was beautiful. And those reverb sounds are really, I gotta mess around with reverbs now. I especially liked that shimmer effect
Your strymon videos are super helpful, thanks. I'm learning a lot and a big reason why I got them in the first place! Strymon should hire you. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada
Very creative, love it!!! I agree, reverb can create such a beautiful sound scape, much more than distortion, great job Rhett, really enjoy the videos bro, God Bless !!!
Man I’d love to hear you put out a solo record with this exact kinda stuff like the intro! Just awesome, especially with the cinematography, and visuals. The intro reminded me of a lot of the stuff Julian Baker does. That was killer!
The raining footage is awesome as your playing, great intro!, i really enjoyed.
I just bought this pedal and I love it. Definitely a lot to learn with it but this was very helpful thank you
Great reverb tips Rhett! - Years ago I had an old analog spring reverb, and I got this amazing effect out of it I've never been able to replicate. It sounded like a jet engine accelerating into some kind of "hyper drive". I got this sound by massively over-driving the unit (which I assume was designed for line-level) by placing it _after_ the power amp section and slowly turning the amp up from zero until it sounded insane and then doing a dive-bomb on the whammy bar. -- As the whammy went down the insane distortion actually went "up" through some kind of zero point and into this weird "phasey" modulated distortion reminiscent of the final fade-out of Van Halen's Eruption. It was really other-worldly sounding and makes me want to pick up an old analog spring unit off of eBay and try to recreate it. - Not sure I'm that adventurous any more though, lol.
I may have had a phaser somewhere in the chain around the pre-amp section as well. I probably did as I used to use a slow phaser almost all the time on leads back then.
Gotta be honest, I keep coming back just to listen to the intro over and over!
Really appreciate this in depth video as I recently got the big sky.
Wowwww. The audio and video production quality (on the intro especially) is brilliant!
Very helpful video. Nicely done on the explanations of knobs and sounds.
I’ve had a couple nice reverbs but honestly the best shimmer verb I’ve ever heard was on a boss RV6. If you get the tone in the right place to where you don’t really hear the octave swell in, it can make some beautiful soundscapes. To me shimmer can be really nice when used subtly! Especially with swells
Currently thought I just use a Neunaber immerse. I love the wet sound but I wish I had something with more sounds available on presets. I play in church mostly and the settings I use are somewhat close to the preset you called versatile.
Beautiful playing. Such a great overall tone.
I love the Shimmer With A little over Drive Sounds Great 🎸🎸
Rhett, I found your channel from Rick Beato and want you to know how much I enjoy your work and contributions to my musical knowledge and growth. I think you offer so much practical know how in a very engaging way. keep up the good work.
Beautifully shot video and great sounds 👌
Light and shade in that opening track is GREAT👍. Like hearing festival scale rock in blazing sunshine…
Thanks for setting up the launching pad for all of us noobs! After seeing my buddy pick one up, I had to get one, and your video has helped me get the fuel I need to blast off. Superb descriptions of all the effects knobs and how they interact. Subbed and liked!
Rhett, you're putting up great information for musicians. Great tone work. And "weird science" is tasty!
Hey, Rhett !!! I'm from Brazil !!! Your videos are always great and help me a lot !!!! Your style of playing is awesome !!! Thanks !!!!
The Intro was so "Coldplay-yy"
I fucking loved it.
I almost snagged me one of these, they are really amazing! Price was not an issue nor was the size. I opted for the Wampler mainly due to the fact that, I probably would never use even half of the features on the big sky. There are many who do and to those a big thumbs to them and the big sky.
Great tones and tips man!
Hey Rhett, Really appreciate these effects uses, tips and tricks. Thank you so much. I will check out your Tone Course. Thanks.
Killer intro! This video is helpful for understanding why guitarists might want multiple reverb sounds on a gig.
I'm a bit of a minimalist and like to use the onboard spring reverb in my Carr Rambler.
I plug straight in, crank the amp to 10, use my guitar controls to dial back, and barely turn up the reverb to get a touch-sensitive reverb that you feel more than hear. From there, I can wind it up or down depending on the vibe and the room.
Beautiful playing Rhett! Gotta get me one of those Strymons. I've been using my Soldano Space Box forever. Might be time for something new.😁
Thank you so much, mate! Those tips are gold!
You have a genuine sense and feel for great movie photography
great tips and clear explanation. Thanks!
Yea I agree with that point on using longer and more wet reverbs for more simplistic guitar parts, I think thats something Coldplay’s guitarist does very well. I think I’m just gonna get an rv6 to start with.
Your videos are so helpful that I take notes...
great tones.. love the look of that guitar as well
Great shimmer tip, thanks Rhett😀
Bro, I love your vids! 💪
Rhett this video made me smile. Going to check out THE TONE COURSE.
Thank you for making these man
Great information - thank you.
Your tones are to die for, IMO.
Thanks for nice video. Plate+shimmer combo was awesome on my Blue Sky, really missing it on the Big Sky
great lesson
Great job! Thanks for the excellent tips !
I recently have been looking at different Reverb pedals and Delay pedals, I have been considering the Big sky and the Time line. But yeah man you confirmed it. I'm going to save up and get those pedals 🎛️🎛️🎸🎶 😊
I'd love to own Bigsky, but have just got Line 6 HX Effects, so will experiment with those reverbs first! An awesome tutorial- thank you!
Love your cinematography almost as much as the tutorial !
Great video! Really liked the shimmer tip!
Fantastic!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Awesome demo
lovely video, God bless you bro!
I can tell a lot of time and production went into this and the Timeline video. They sound amazing and are extremely helpful. More Signal Flow videos, please.
Playing synth I really like what you do at the end, replacing people like us so we can go to the bar and grab a drink : )
But seriously, I like what you do there, especially when going weird.
In the world of modular synths the saying is that you can not have enough VCAs. I think in the world of music in general you can not have enough reverb pedals. I got a Tc electronic Hall of Fame that I made a ridiculous patch for in the Tone Print editor. I have no clue as to what is going on there, but with it i found some sweet spots for gradually camouflaging what I'm playing and turn it into something totally recognizable and different.
I also just recently got a Eventide Space that I just scratched the surface on what it can do.
Then for you as I think I saw an Earthquacker Devise on your board, and you said in another video that you love delays especially, that you if you haven't should try the Avalanche Run, and or maybe the Disaster Transport SR.
Great stuff, really inspiring thanks!
just bought a pedal board today and one of the toys on its the strymon big sky. i havent even tried it yet. just wanted to see your take on it before hiting it. Thanks for posting. Weird science, great name for that effect.
Killer videos man, subbed!
This is such a huge help.....thank you
Really good advice. Thank you.
Great video; well done!
Gave this video a thumbs up for the intro alone. It was beautiful 😍
Plus very informative & creative, & again, great job bro !!!
I just watched your Profiler tops video but could not add comments for some reason. It was a great show and I cant wait to load up your free profiles and then buy some more if they sound as good as they do on the site. Great tips by the way. Im now subscribed. Im a real fan of some of your tone shaping. Thanks again for some awsome videos and advice.
This is gold advice. Tnx!
I really enjoyed this video!
EXCELLENT VIDEOS!!!
I love the textures you create in both this video and the delay video. I like the m7#5 feel you had in one of them. Do you have videos on your favorite chord voicing for lush sounds? I've mostly seen gear.
Some good tips there, many thanks 👍
NICE pedal board. I would love to have that. Great job building that.
This guy is the real deal. I really like the tones you get from your Lightning 15 and Morgan 20 amps. How would you compare the two? Which has more headroom and takes pedals better?
Thanks Nick Kroll!
Hi Rhett! This video has definitely inspired me to exhaust all the possible sounds out of my EQD Astral Destiny + Keeley Caverns v2 combo.
Thank you so much. Back to tweaking haha
Great video!
'Tangerine Fever Dream' Great stuff.
you're becoming as much a part of my CZcams diet as JHS and Sean Daniel. love your production lessons
That Jazzmaster looks amazing!
Thanks Rhett
Awesome!! ❤
Nice work. Love the track at the front.
excellent video good sir. thx for explaining and uploading.
Thanks dude!
Awesome video!
You're quite the sound architect, Mr Shull! And you play well, too! I love it! :-) I have yet to hear that 'shimmer' reverb at church, I was more reminded of U2's 'The Unforgettable Fire' album and something from Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' one. 13:09 reminds me of Andy Summers' guitar synth sounds, and he had tuned it to 5ths also. Nice stuff, and greetings from NZ! :-)
Sounds like the Bigsky is clipping..
When you power up the Strymon stuff hold down the right footswitch (C/tap), then scroll (using the type encoder) to «level», there you can se if the bigsky is getting a to hot signal!
Strymon is designet for «line level», so it works best after a preamp!
I heard that breakup. Rhett said it was the amp, but I agree... that sounded more like clipping.
Couldn't it be Digital Distortion? - from Too Hot a Signal going to the Recording Device? Either way - enjoy your videos brother.
Either way it sounds great!
Yeah some of those didn't sound like break up distortion from the amp, sounded more like clipping
Thanks for that! Did not know about test mode. Totally undocumented.
Bro your videos are awesome
i love your channel, really do.. not especially what or how you play (you would probably say the same thing about me), but your overall love for the instrument and your gift to make it nuanced and contagious.. just one thing about the "no plan B" thing.. i'm sure your genuineness would, in the end agree, that the era we live in as musicians confronts us on a daily basis to the plan B "let's still fill the fridge and pay the rent".. i agree with the sentiment, it's necessary to become a great musician, but let's not kid ourselves, disappearing in your basement to record an album (that won't sell in itself on a "record" form, and will have to rely on finding side ways to make it worth on a financial/time/reality field).. your channel IS a plan B.. and a great one at that.. much love and indeed, keep on keeping on..
