    I recently got the Minim by Old Blood Noise. It's the best reverse reverb I've ever heard. I paired with the Tera Echo and the Russian Big Muff and got lost in Narnia.

      Minim. it's just magic in a box.
      the only op-amp i have is Acorn's Mind Killer, so i'm going to try your recipe today: Mind Killer > Tera Echo > Minim. wish me luck!

    Reverbs are two categories for me. I have a Holy Grail Neo as an “always on” reverb. I just love it for subtle reverb and it’s a great price for something that is more a tone feature than an “effect.” Then I usually use an Eventide Blackhole for more crazy reverbs. Two completely different purposes but equally important.

    • @anthonyfranklin7137
      @anthonyfranklin7137 Před rokem +4

      I agree with this. Spent a lot of time pedal swapping trying to get the full spectrum of reverb from one pedal that is easily switchable, and it makes so much more sense to have a couple on board to switch between two unique reverbs.

      +1 for the Cirrus, it's just such a versatile pedal. Beautiful dotted eigth delay, modulated shoegaze reverb, heck, you can even swap the order of the effects. Hope it gets some more attention

    A few of my faves
    Free the Tone - Ambispace
    Red Panda - Context
    Source Audio - Collider (stacking two reverbs)
    Eventide - Space or Blackhole (still inspires me daily after all these years)

    The thing I love about the Flint is that it does a few things very very well indeed. Instead of trying to be all things to all men it just does that beautiful intersection of reverb and trem just so so well. And that's it. It'll make you sound subtly better in any way you use it. It's brilliant

    @atonofspiders Před 2 lety +1

    I gotta vouch for the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Procession. That’s an amazing pedal and I can’t imagine using anything else with the inspiration it pulls out of me. It has some truly amazing sounds, the speed knobs set to minimum values freezes the movement of it’s built in effect , and with a flanger, sci-fi filter and tremolo, being able to freeze a texture mid-woosh is nothing short of incredible and makes the sonic possibilities absolutely endless. Hold button for reverb freeze, a kill-dry mix knob, it really does cover a ton of ground even if compared to all the pedals of this video combined.

  • @retainium

    Great picks…again, super happy you found Recovery Effects-I’ve always loved everything I’ve owned of theirs. I also am a big Caroline fan; the somersault is tied for my favorite current chorus (with the Solidgoldfx NU-33). For reverbs, specifically the hall, give the Native Audio Ghost Ridge a go, Mike makes amazing pedals as well (his delay and phaser are excellent as well). Anyways my friend, per usual you’ve knocked it outta the park with these sounds. All my love to you & the family.

    The reverb pedal that stays with me always is the HOF Mini from TC. Even though there's only 1 knob, I can program it to do all sorts of stuff. It's currently set up like this: when the knob is fully counter-clockwise, it's set to a 40ms predelay with no reverb - basically a thickener or doubler. As I turn the knob up it goes into slapback. At halfway up the predelay is at 0 and I have a 'normal' hall reverb. At fully clockwise, it's set to a lush ambient 'wire choir' setting with modulation. I put the biggest knob I could find on it, and I can move between these settings with my foot easily.

    As an ambient guitarist, I love how you said the Vongon could get into ambient territory... then Brian Eno territory. Yes, we all know - Eno is on an entirely different level.
    Also, I could've sworn the first one you played was a Flint. I was convinced. Then I was bummed, because the Flint is such a killer pedal. Then... you showed off the Flint. Good man.
    Lastly, I know you have the Microcosm. Try running it in effects only mode and try out the reverb on that. It'll blow your mind at how good it sounds.

    I have a Strymon Flint pedal( my very first purchase from them actually) and a Strymon BlueSky as well. My first exposure to reverb was my Dad's guitar player, I was about 10 at the time. But the sound of the reverb in that blackface Deluxe Reverb forever burned that as the standard IMHO, into my brain. The post to buy the Flint was how well Strymon nailed the BFDR 'verb, IMO. Plus the tremolo is to die for as well. Love the channel Rhett. :)

    Gamechanger Audio Light Pedal.
    Everything you like about the other Spring-based reverbs, and everything you never knew you wanted. Spring-induced drive, control of harmonic feedback, trem, delay, etc. Just an insanely amazing pedal and the most unique reverb I’ve played. Works very well with the Meris Enzo and Keeley Loomer as an Analog/Digital mix. It’s truly brilliant.

    The Keeley Verb o Trem is amazing for the price - it's usually quite affordable on Reverb. Switch between R->T, Mack (Vibrato), and the T->R is an amazing Harmonic Tremolo. I tend to use it with the Mack mode on almost constantly. Put a simple Overdrive pedal after the Verb o Trem Harmonic Trem to get that pulsing overdrive sound.

      Using an isolated power supply (i.e. not daisychained) the noise floor on a digital reverb should be close to zero! My HSS Strat -> Aurora -> clean Victory D40 is completely silent. So TLR TLR, if you heard a hissing or humming Aurora on your own or somebody else’s board, there was either some other problem with the board or else it was a duff pedal.

    Strymon Flint has replaced my Ventris Dual Reverb as my primary in my rig, which is kind of nuts. Just has such a natural sound and still very versatile. (Or you can stack them together like I do for wettt ambient drippp).
    Also, you can slow the harmonic tremolo all the way down and decrease the intensity to about 20% and it acts kind of like a compression/saturation/sweetener/boost? Hard to describe, just makes your guitar sound better, especially single coil. I've started leaving the trem side always on.

      This is quite the endorsement for a Strmon Flint... The Ventris is a beast of a pedal.

    I find alot of reverb pedals dont sound great if u play with alot of distortion. Two that do sound good for me with distortion is the Holy Grail (I like the older ones) and the Boss Digital Reverb. These are more subtle plate style verbs.

    Huge fan of the Flint. My only wish is that Strymon updated it to be MIDI controllable with more presets. Also great idea for a video! I would love to see a similar one for delay and modulation fx.

    The Universal Audio Golden is my favorite reverb pedal of all time. While it doesn’t do the more ambient reverb tones, it excels at offering the absolute best emulations of spring, plate, and hall reverbs I’ve ever heard. The source audio ventris is also worth a look, as it offers both stellar emulations of spring/plate/hall, along with some beautiful ambient reverb, such as the reverse and e-dome modes.

  • @paulmatulevich3623
    @paulmatulevich3623 Před 2 lety +27

    Any EQD reverb. Not necessarily because the tone stands head and shoulders itself, but because they will work on literally every board. A Dispatch Master is always a go to for delay/verb in a snap. The sound just sits right in any chain

    • @gavinw5469
      @gavinw5469 Před 2 lety +1

      EQD designs kinda suck a lot of the time, and many times are basically just clones where they replace a normal resistor with a potentiometer. They do that with the palisades for instance. They aren't really adding a whole lot to the circuit.

    • @paulmatulevich3623
      @paulmatulevich3623 Před 2 lety +10

      @@gavinw5469 dunno man, their continued sales and brand rep seem to say otherwise. Plus the Palisades is a poor example given the number of parameters it controls compared to most literally everyone else who also clone Tubescreamers. I'm curious what the Rainbow Machine is a clone of? Haters gonna hate

    • @gavinw5469
      @gavinw5469 Před 2 lety

      @@paulmatulevich3623 I said many of them are clones, not all of them. Your right, the rainbow machine is a somewhat unique pedal. Its just built on a standard fv-1 chip platform with external EEPROM. Nothing that special honestly. It's cool, but all they really have to do is make a digital algorithm and load it on the EEPROM, and it's basically done. It's really not that complicated or innovative, it's just that they made some really cool algorithms to load into the EEPROM.

    • @TheBurdenOfHope
      @TheBurdenOfHope Před 2 lety +2

      @@gavinw5469 I really take issue with your analysis. If it's so easy and not that complicated everyone would be doing it? EQD have built a really successful company making great products and that doesn't happen by accident. You sound like some one who hasn't played much of their stuff. The Avalanche Run is an epic pedal. The design of the algorithm is utterly unique. It's character is unparalleled. It has a power and depth not found elsewhere. And I've played them all. Stefan of The Pedal Zone knows his onions and you'll see it featured in loads of his videos. It's a unique pedal that flies in the face of your assessment.

    I got the OBNE Procession a couple weeks ago on a bit of a lark. I don’t think I’m their target market but after watching painfully pretentious demos I realized that tone and circuits don’t make hipster judgements and there’s a lot in the pedal I like. Tremelo option is very good.

    I always tell people that reverb is an essential part of tone. It brings everything together and gives single notes/chords life, like a "breath".. Also my local guitar shop has a used Vongon pedal for about a 3rd of the price. Consider it mine.
