Beautiful message! I agree wholeheartedly. There are people in my extended family who still don't understand this, and they simply don't know how to "hold space" for my emotions, like sadness, anger, rage or even hatred. They tell me to "be strong" or "be happy." But that's just their conditioning and they were raised by people who also repressed THEIR emotions, so I try not to get too upset when they try to change me or fix me. Ultimately, it seems that I have to be the one in my family to break the cycle and allow all my emotions to breathe. Thanks for this video!

It makes things worse when we put on a mask to hide our emotions. like crying, if we hold it in, it will only build up until it cant anymore

Emotions are a road map to life, not the directions
Without the lows, the highs could not be measured
Ying and yang, everything can be split into two
Being sad is arguably better than being happy, because at least you have something to look forward to and hope for instead of something you must maintain such as happiness
If you kill the emotion, you won't learn from the experience that's causing those feelings in the first place
You can, because you have freedom as a sovereign human. Nobody needs to see or acknowledge your feelings for them to be valid, emotions are for you and only you to help guide your decisions

I seek balance and serenity within myself. I often avoid people who are excessively emotional since it will throw off my own balance that I concentrate to keep. Emotions like sadness are not bad when they are part of a process, but a person can get addicted to their sadness and if you have empathy then it's hard to be near them while wanting to sustain your own inner world.

I get what you're saying about emotions such as happiness or sadness. And I agree everyone goes through them. But some people don't cry when they're sad, some get angry, sometimes anger turns into violence. Emotionally unstable people are not safe to be with. If you don't know or want to control your emotions, how can you help someone else control theirs? A person who lives by their emotions maybe the most passionate person you'll ever meet, but when they get upset, emotionally unstable people are the most dangerous and violent people to be around. Nobody's emotions are a valid excuse for violence.

That's super well said, friend. Again I am by no means a professional when it comes to psychology but 100% what I am saying is not to make emotional abusers valid.
What I'm getting at, more or less, is that if you feel sad, it's okay, and you don't have to hide from the world. Also, in general, mental health matters, and if you need help, it's okay to ask. :)) Sending you peace and light.

i have somany things in my head after watching that video, first how can someone be this smart and aware and be able to articulate complex ideas so easily, second if only more men talk about this their life would be so much more better, lastly i love how u articulated the paradox at the end of your video and showed that the two opposite ideas are both true, it just prooves how life is irrational and two opposit things could be true at the same time and i love it.

Cool video! I do agree, all emotions are not only valid but serve an important purpose for us, both those categorized socially as " negative" and as " positive ", and we must feel I know how to deal with each one of them. Also, emotions are a vast and complex topic, since sometimes we feel a thing but it doesn't actually match reality, and we must be mindful of it in order to not make mistakes. Just saying, Victoria is the name of my first girlfriend. Even seven years later, I still remember her, and love her, despite the fact that we have moved apart. She refuses to talk to me, but she is part of my story and was an good person overall to me when we were together, so I still have a good place for her in my heart, without the need of us being together.

    Nice video and topic
But doesn't it assumes that most of the people are genuine with themselves regarding what they are feeling ?
There are so many monkey dance and tactics or brain use to keep us safe from real emotions
So being genuine with what you feel is equally important
    Thanks for the video

I think you can draw similarities between this video and your previous video about how one does not need permission to be oneself.
I feel like this is a two-way problem. People these days tend to judge others, and having emotions or sentiments is usually frowned upon. We, as individuals, also change ourselves by worrying about what others think of us.
At the end of the day, we just have to be ourselves, rather than trying to be something or someone else. Namaste

This isn't a critique of the video itself, but people really need to stop using the word "valid" in a context where it doesn't make sense. Saying that a person or their emotions are valid is a misuse of the word because it doesn't align with any of the definitions. How can an emotion be "of legal efficacy?" Or "logically correct?" Or "well-grounded?" Or "effective?"
Emotions simply are, as are people. This attempt to justify either is just silly. It's people trying to force others to take them seriously or care; it's people seeking attention that they either desperately want or just feel entitled to.
You are correct that the emotions themselves are not good or bad and that those are judgments. However, those emotions are part of your psyche, and they are communicating something to you, and that communication has some sort of meaning. Emotions are there to inform your intellect that something is going on, and it's the task of the intellect to determine what the next course of action might be.

This video is very beautiful and I agree with almost everything in the video, but I think it needs a little bit more hair feather and God. Sometimes I think or feel thoughts, physical sensations, or emotions that I don't want to think or feel. At those times, I complain of my situation to God. If it's really bad then I might even visualize that I'm hugging God or that I am a baby who God is cradling and rocking back and forth in his arms. God says, "Listen! No doubt, upon the friends of God there is neither any anxiety, nor any depression. (Friends of God are) those who have believed and practice piety." (Quran 11:62-63)

@@demetter7936 Those who do rely on God instead of themselves truly become free. A human self is limited. God is infinite and unlimited. Those who let themselves go and let God work through them literally walk on miracles, the way Noah, Abraham, David, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad did. There are literally miracle workers just like them today. But you'll never be a miracle worker relying on your limited self. Surrender and become free.

@@WasifSikder From the human perspective, God is nothing more than an idea. It's also not the case that "God is unlimited" and I can prove it: God cannot cease to be which means there is something he cannot do, which is a limitation.
