  • Chain Link Fence Installation For Dog Park - How to DIY
    In this video my brother and I install a black vinyl chain link fence for an apartment complex in Midland Texas. This was for a dog park for this property.
    We purchased all of our fence material from Premier Wire Fence in Midland, TX. The total cost for all the material for this 25' X 25' with an 8' X 8' off leash area was $1,359.73. This gives you an idea of what the appx. cost should be for the black vinyl chain link fence material.
    We take you through all the steps from start to finish to get a chain link fence of your own setup and installed. We hope this DIY video encourages you to take on the fence installing project you’ve been meaning to tackle. You’ll find all the links below to whatever tools and materials you need to complete a chain link fence project. We will also share any recommendations or tips that we know have helped us in our chain link fence installations over multiple projects. If we missed any details or specific questions you may have for your chain link fence installation project please ask them in the comments. When I was a teenager, I was running to catch a ball during a baseball game and slammed into a 6 foot chainlink fence and was impaled with a wire tie that wasn't bent over far enough and was sticking out to far. Fire department had to snip it to get me unhooked.
    Those things should be twisted inside the mesh and under the top bar.

    How much spacing do you typically give a gate for the hinges and latches to operate fine?

    • @MasteringMayhem
      @MasteringMayhem  Před 3 lety

      The closer you can get to exactly 48” between the posts, the better. (Not center of posts but the two outside edges that face each other). Usually a 1/2” of play is allowed to where they will still work fine.
      I hope that helps?

    Good vid. thanks. I didn't hear you say how deep the terminal and line posts holes should be. And, the terminal posts are 2 5/8" and the line posts are 1 1/2" ? Why not use a bottom rail too, if for a dog park? I'm looking to DIY chain linked fence around my home, but have a dog, so was thinking it would be better to have both top and bottom rails, with bottom pushed tight as heck down to the dirt. I don't believe the dog would dig herself out--dachshund.

    • @MasteringMayhem
      @MasteringMayhem  Před 4 lety

      RobHTech The bottom rails would add additional support but that bottom wire should be enough. Then again, a stronger fence never hurts 🙂. Thanks for watching the video, glad you enjoyed it.

      The depth of the poles should be 36”. That’s what I believe is the industry standard.

  • @kbanghart
    @kbanghart Před 3 lety +1

    Anyone here know much about pouring a concrete pad, with the poles for a chain-link fence? I've seen the videos where you can add the poles after, with anchors, but that's about it so far.

    • @MasteringMayhem
      @MasteringMayhem  Před 3 lety

      Plen122 I would get the poles in the ground first and then get the concrete pad in place. That’s all I have for my two cents on that. Let me know what you find out if anyone else shares their insight.

    • @kbanghart
      @kbanghart Před 3 lety +1

      @@MasteringMayhem thanks! Yeah considering the space I'll be working in, I think I'll sink them in concrete like any other post, and then do the pad around them. I have to contain two medium to larger size dogs, so digging and stuff like that is always a concern. But here's something maybe you could answer, for an 8-ft pole in concrete 2-ft deep, It wouldn't shift the base if a 75 lb dog leaned against it, right?

    • @MasteringMayhem
      @MasteringMayhem  Před 3 lety +1

      Plen122 I don’t see how it could do that if it’s two feet deep and it’s the bigger 2 5/8” terminal poles all around. I personally wouldn’t put the smaller posts for a heavy dog like that.

    • @kbanghart
      @kbanghart Před 3 lety +1

      @@MasteringMayhem Excellent thanks. I just heard another idea, using sleeves buried in concrete, and the posts inside them, so you could remove the posts later if you wanted easily.
