With thin wall pipe I make the splice pipes by sticking them in a hydraulic hose crimper to swage the ends, then weld the seam. Water pipe I use a couple of c channels and clamps to hold together, tack weld then seam weld. I got a laugh when you suggested putting the bolts in the cap, every time I do it it gets kicked and bolts in the grass.

Hi! I have a question for you, We have existing 4ft fence that’s been up for over 30 years still in great shape but we wanted to make it a 6 footer. We got a great deal at auction for posts and rolls of 6ft link. The new posts are large enough to completely sleeve over the existing posts will this same method work with a full sleeve and bolts or would extenders like this be better? We do not want to dig up the cement holding existing posts, it’s held up 30+ years I think they will outlive me!

We currently have a 3' chainlink fence with 6' bamboo panels affixed to it (with wire) by the previous homeowners. Could we keep the 3' chainlink there as is, but add the poles to make it 6' and then have the bamboo be more stable, or something other than bamboo--what we want to do is have a privacy fence and add sound-dampening acoustic panels of some sort. We need a stronger fence along with privacy and sound-dampening. We got a malamute several months ago, and sadly she is very fearful of all the street and neighbor noises in our backyard. I'd love to relieve her experience somewhat, and have a secure fence so she can even be off-leash in the backyard (a 3' fence with 6' bamboo panels won't hold a malamute in), we'll probably add a small fountain as well for white noise. Basically we need to turn our 3' fence into a 6' sturdy frame. We could still use the bamboo, but we need a 6' frame to hold the weight of the acoustic panels. Do you have an ideas for this? We also need to replace our 3' x 3' gate with a 6' gate. Is there a way to add a frame to the existing gate, or do we need to buy a new gate?

Hello, based on your videos, I have just completed a 450 foot chain link fence. I have a possible problem. It rains every afternoon in central Florida. I noticed that I have about 12” of water in each post. All my posts were ‘stabbed’ into wet concrete. Can I just leave the water there? I understand that concrete is permeable, I have considered drilling a small hole in each post at ground level but an concerned that this will provide a place for rust to start, what do you guys think?
