- This is my first cover using drum samples! For decades I have used nothing but the internal module sounds of the Roland TD-10, TD-20X, and TD-30. Many of my online drumming friends (Mike Luke, Jason Ozant, Bryan Kouba, and Paul Gherlani) have been triggering various sampling programs with amazing results! After months (maybe years now...) of convincing me to try it out I think I'm sold. I have been working hard with the help of the forementioned group to learn the Superior Drummer 3 program. I have a loong way to go but I'm pleased to release this timeless classic by the amazing classic rock band that is Aerosmith! Rock on

Thanks for all the feedback Cheri!
WOOOOOW... NICE COVER!!
Sounds great man, nice tribute to a very underrated drummer... Joey Kramer, love that shuffle feel on the ride, makes the track...😎🍻🥁
Thanks my friend! Shuffle beats are not my strong suit. It took a few tries to get that one right...Did you notice I'm not using module sounds here? Yup, finally took the VST plunge hehe
What an awesome setup to do your magic on!! You have truly just got better and better, video production too, and that's just plain to see man! Love the drumming and the energy!
Entertaining from start to finish! Brilliant performance! 🍻🍻🍻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks my friend! Aerosmith is iconic and the Pump album had a zillion singles in the top ten! Remember?
Love the part around 2.35 and also the freaking open played parts going into the stick trix!!!
Thanks Eric! I’m digging the samples but it’s a lot of work compared to using on board sounds. It gives me some work to do though so always fun to learn new tricks!
I'm leaving two comments on this because it's only right. I've watched this at least 10 times now. You just have so much damn skill and presence it's nuts dude.
Hell I haven’t even watched it 3 times bro! Many thanks from a veteran to a veteran. I’m going to surprise you with my next cover...waaay out of my comfort zone!
Great vid! Excellent choice of samples, and killer mix! Lots of fun to watch -- one of the best Aerosmith covers I've seen! You killed it! Found your channel from Trey B - looking forward to seeing more!
Big thanks man! I have fun playing my 80’s Rock. Brings me back to some good times in my life! Trey is the shit! Another force to be reckoned with on YT!
Mike, I had a smile the whole time while watching the video! All the time we spent on that Zoom meeting and various emails back and forth, you finally got it. You nailed the iconic tom fill at 2:39! I bet you still have a lot more tweaking to do, I always do too. Welcome to the club, now the addiction starts where you start buying SDX's every black Friday. 😂🤣
Haha! I knew you were waiting for this brother! Thanks again for your time and patience! I still have a long way to go but I’m getting it little by little. I did start with a preset that was quite close to the sound I was looking for but I added some different cymbals and tweaked the kick and snare slightly but Hey! Not bad for my first try 😝. I know, I have already bought D&D and the Rock Foundry from Sweetwater. Too many killer instruments not to add to my library. Now I’m just getting caught up in trying out all of the presets! See you back here in a month 😂
Just awesome work man !
stay healthy my friend
thanks for all the hard and great work
nailed this cover man!
Thanks Mason!👍👍🤟🤟
You made a masterpiece Mike!
✨🤘
Great cover and wonderful sounds !! Great post registration job!
In front of all those screens and vst I stopped like
an enchanted child in front of the candy window,
I hope soon to be able to enter that shop too! 😃
It’s an expensive candy store but soooooo worth it 😆. Thanks for the props Jason! Come on over any time. I don’t mind sharing 😉🥁
Awesome my friend.., great drum sounding..👍👍👏👏🤘🤘
Thanks so much for your kind words! 👍🤟

wow you are SUPER solid and i love the stick flips, great video work too 🤘subscribed
Dude Mike you never cease to amaze me buddy you ABSOLUTELY killed this cover especially that tricky ride cymbal part on the bridge. I am always waiting for your next cover to see how you're gonna amaze me. You never disappoint. Keep it rockin' buddy I can't wait for your next cover.
Alex I always look forward to your comments and can’t tell you how appreciative I am of your support! I put a lot of time and energy on recording and editing my covers and it’s nice to have the positive feedback! This was fun to play around with my new drum software and dial in the iconic Pump album drum sound. Thanks again. Cheers! 😎🥁👍🤟🍺
Michael you have that software dialed in to match your powerful drumming 💪💪!! That snare sound is Phenomenal!! Your dynamics on the bell pattern shows your high level of detail that most drummers miss. Your showmanship is so incredible and I love it all!! My brother 🤘🤘!! I hope you and your family are doing well and y’all have a wonderful week!! 👍✌️👊💪😁
Hey Steve! Thanks my friend. I’ve finally jumped the module ship and dove head first into SD3! Hence the six week hiatus between my last cover and this one...I still have a looooong way to go but this stuff is amazing! The ability to play iconic drums recorded by legendary producers in some of the best studios in the world?? Sign me up haha! The shuffle on the ride bell kicked my butt! Four or five takes just to get through it 😂! Thanks for your continued support my friend and I love seeing your family pics on FB! Not to mention I’m jealous of all of the cool gigs you are playing. I’m still on lockdown. Damn Covid! Cheers brother
Great Cover my drumming-friend! Nice set! Have a nice weekend! Greetings, Chris!🥁🥁🥁
Thanks for the compliment Christian! That means a lot coming from such an accomplished musician such as yourself! You deserve way more support. I’ll start by giving you my sub mate.✌️👍🥁😎
@@mfournier01 Thanks for your feedback! New friend here! Playing drums makes so much fun!🤗🥁 Have a beautiful day!
Welcome to the dark side, Mike. ;) I didn’t read the description first, but after the first two bars I knew and heard what’s going on here. The cymbals sounded too realistic 😎 Congrats my good friend, you entered the next level. Always knew you’d achieve a sound like that. Together with your drumming skills it’s a pure joy to watch and listen. Can’t wait for more. And by the way, there’s a new SDX to be released tomorrow ... 😜
Thanks so much for all of your help and patience a Mike! I couldn’t have put it together without you seriously. The videos you have done are also a huge bonus for anyone looking to dive into the deeper controls this software offers. Yes I received the email about the new SDX, going to check it out, though I’ve already sunk $ into D&D and the Rock Foundry! It’s addictive 😂. I’m working on a few more songs but it’s going to take longer now that I have to mix everything myself 😆. I’m happy to be able to join the elite though. Thanks again sir!
Good job! When can I be a little PO’d at Mr Beats by Jay? Where’s my tshirt?! HAHA Love this tune and spot on man. Kudos.
I paid good $ for that shirt😂
mfournier01 LOL
This sounds great!
Thanks very much! It’s a fun groove to play
That was nice!
Thanks Rob! Really appreciate it
Well done bro! Now you gotta do all the videos over again with real drum sample software! Great production and great drum sounds chosen in SD3! We would all love to know the exact drums and cymbals and effects chosen! Well done man!
Ha! I’d be an old man by the time I worked all of that out but moving forward I have some new tasks to keep me busy! It’s not easy dialing in these drum sounds not being a sound engineer but I’ll do my best to get close for sure! I chose a mix of drums and cymbals from the Rock Foundry SDX starting with a Bob Rock preset that is already in your face as his drum sounds always were. Tweaked a little from there with tuning and volume adjustments. That’s about it. Cheers
You are an inspiration !!! Keep on !!!
Wow thanks so much! To inspire anybody is a huge compliment to me. Much appreciated
Jesus, you basically channeled Joey Kramer Mike! Straight up, I skipped to 2:15 just because I wanted to hear that immediately....LOL! And you did not disappoint. I mean dude, this is perfect. Like...........it's f'n perfect from the sound to the chops. Just nothing but stupid, mad respect.
Thanks brother! Joey’s not the hardest drummer to cover by any means but I dig his sound and play “for the music” attitude! It was fun dialing in that huge drum sound too. First time with the software so I took the plunge. Next is to build a sick metal kit lol! I’ll get my floor Toms to sound like your DW’s if it kills me 😂!
Mike awesome cover and as always it sounds great!! Excellent drumming and video editing too!! Hope you have a great weekend as well!!🤘🤘 Great Job with the samples!!👍😀
Thank you very much Zax. My first attempt at triggering software samples and I think I’m hooked! Now there’s so many add on packs they are going to take all of my $ 😂
mfournier01 I know it can get addictive. But I am sure you will really enjoy it and find it easier to get the right sound for the songs!!🤘🤘
Thank you for this video! Im studying it for an audition and this is one of the five songs. Your Rolands sound fantastic!
Happy to help brother! Hope you get the gig! Let me know if you do and I’ll follow you back! Cheers
Mate what can I say but that was perfect!! I was thinking when the song first started that man you’ve got that module dialled in. Wasn’t to much longer that I realised that you’ve got to be using samples. A bit late to the party but better late than never! 🤣🤣🤣 Awesome sounds from your first SD cover. You gotta love working with superior drummer but it’s like anything that’s new to you...it’s a bit hard at the start to get used to but once you sort of got the heads up on it, it will be just as easy as you’ve done it before. If you need any help feel free to let me know, more than happy to help you out brother.
Cheers Paul.
Never perfect but I do have fun haha! Thanks for the support brother! Yes, I finally took the plunge and am now a part of the elite group that is drum sampling 😂. Much more work than I’m used to but the sounds...Holy Crap. Layering acoustic and electronics, multiple reverbs, big rooms, amazing instruments! My mind is literally blown! I’m still learning and probably will for some time but the support I’ve been getting has been HUGE! Thanks for offering your help as well! I’m sure I’ll hit you up soon haha! Cheers too my friend😄
mfournier01 anytime mate.
Great job Matt! You killed it bro! Sounded awesome! 👍💯💯💯
Thanks Tracy! I’m still Mike though 😂
Mike so sorry man, didn't realize that til just now lol! #typo 🤷♂️😂
Excellent job on this! The drums sound great!
Thanks my friend! I’m new to this whole VST thing but the samples in SD3 are just amazing. It’s like sitting down in a famous studio and bashing away on a classic kit that I could never afford 😂!
@@mfournier01
That is a great analogy of the digital tools we have available today. I use some Chris Lord-Alge plug-ins in Pro Tools that help me get great drum sounds with my acoustic kit. I can't wait to see how far you take this technology you've discovered!
I’ve just started to scratch the surface but earlier I was layering kick and snare samples and the effects were huge! You can almost get too caught up in tweaking the sounds. Makes me understand what engineers and producers do in the professional studios. So much experimentation just to be unique and still sound good for the music. I’m not surprised to learn you use some layering. Your acoustic kit sounds so clean and well mixed! Something I never had luck doing when I still owned my Yamaha Tour Custom or Pearl World Series kits. Eventually I triggered all of the kick and toms using an Alexis D4 while mixing the snare and two overheads for the cymbals. Who knew I would be a “hybrid” drummer in the 90’s. So popular now...
*_You had me from the very start... Spectacular Cover..._*
Amazing drumming skills and your interpretation of this classic song is very good. Aerosmith would be all thumbs up just as am I.
I played some in Seattle during the 80's I was never half as good as you. I also did some vocals. It's hard mixing drums and vocals together, drums require more focus.
*_I subscribed and gave it a like._*
Thanks for the great compliment Steven! Cheers
@@mfournier01 My pleasure.
Please play more
Play more Aerosmith?
Good cover 🤘 !! I leave you my Like & Sub 👍, Well done 👌
I loved watching you play this - rock on🤘 I’ve been listening to this song for 30+ years and only realised recently, upon hearing the isolated track, just how busy the drums are 🤯 it sounds like the shuffle part has a delay on it on the record…might be wrong though 🤔
Hey thanks man. Yeah it’s a pretty cool shuffle during the middle break and it does sound like they add a beat delay for the kick and snare if only for a few measures. I tried to get the drum sound like the original album. Fun to play even after all these years
@@mfournier01 yeah the drum sound is terrific. I shall come back to this video for some more pointers! All the best
MY man! Love in a drum cover! Awesome idea to add the intro of the music video as it adds to the production value and as always, great camera angles. You NAILED that fat snare sound too, bro! But let me ask you this...do you find Joey Krammer' to be the easiest drummer you've covered? To me his work is really good but not in the league of guys like Lars, Tommy lee, Copeland, Peart, Bonham, etc. What say you?
Thank you! This was my first attempt at using samples and I wanted to find an iconic drum sound from that era and the “Pump” album certainly had it. It was produced by Bob Rock who is known for his legendary drum sounds! I do agree that Joey Kramer plays mostly straight forward and for the music but he does have some style and tasty fills that are his own. Not a challenge per say, but like AC/DC and early Judas Priest, the beats always drive the music and keep you engaged! The snare sound is a layer of two acoustic snares and one electronic by the way!
@@mfournier01 Brilliant as usual!
Any chance you could make a cover of All in the Name of... by Motley Crue?
