  • Stuck on a Def Leppard kick I had to cover (probably) their most famous hit single! Once again I tried to capture the huge drum sound adding in the "Claps" and "huge tom" sounds when hitting the snare. I'm sure this was all added in post production when the album was recorded however I always like to add effects and percussion to the live recording when I can.
    I claim no rights to the music and share this video foe entertainment purposes only. Thanks for watching!

      Great comment George! My thoughts exactly. When you drill down Ricks beats they are pretty straight forward but his fills and accents are much more intricate than most people imagine. Huge respect for him regardless of his achievements post accident.

      And he does it with one arm and two feet. I recently saw a CZcams video with some asshat talking about how Rick Allen was among the most overrated drummers of the "hair band era". I had an urge to slap the tool for being so stupid.

That takes a lot of focus. Bro you never fail to amaze me and I love it!!! Michael I am so happy you had an amazing vacation and I hope you have a wonderful week! ✌️👍👊💪😁

    Your last three Leppard covers have each been something to behold. You have really brought Rick Allen’s parts to life. As I’ve said before... I was more of a pyromania fan than hysteria but after really going back and listening, my opinion of hysteria has really changed for the better. That’s something I think gets missed with 80s music often, the writing, musicianship and production was so awesome... keep rockin man 🍻🥁😎🤘

    • @mfournier01
      @mfournier01  Před 4 lety

      Very true Steve! While I loved Pyromania, I thought Hysteria was such a huge production and with Rick coming back stronger than ever. Even though the beats are straight forward, his fills are very different and just fit the music so perfectly they often go unnoticed. Until you try to play them of course! I only realized this while trying to record these last few songs. Thanks for the support my friend👍👍

      Funny you should mention filling in...I was asked to tour with Geoff Tate’s band in Europe this weekend after their drummer became ill! Unfortunately I have too many responsibilities to leave my family and home for 6 weeks with 24 hrs notice! Anyway this kit started as Aa “ rock drums” preset from VEX Engineer 1.2 pack that I heavily modified. Crazy world

    • @brohoop
      @brohoop Před 4 lety

      mfournier01, Geoff Tate!! Holy moly!! Pretty damn cool! But I understand. Family and job have to come first. Too bad they could only give such short notice.
      When you heavily modify the VEX, what is the main thing you like to do? Also, do you think you’d be happy with the 20X if you didn’t have the VEX packs?

    • @mfournier01
      @mfournier01  Před 4 lety +1

      brohoop Yeah if I was only 25...I love my TD-20x because of the sheer versatility. I hate the fact that the factory presets are mostly unusable for recording. The VEX packs this what the unit is capable of when u take the time to tweak everything. I honestly don’t remember every adjustment I made to the Def kit because I do it all by ear. Usually start with kick and snare. Tune each, match the attack/verb/ambience and then move on to the toms and cymbals saving as I go. People always ask me for my settings but there are SO many involved that’s it’s too time consuming to share. I do recommend the VeX packs. Engineer/Top 50 1 and 2/Exotics. These are the best in my opinion
